FEATURED IN POST: Puck, Brant, Kuro, Asa, Aine, Rina, Ariana Christian
~Puck~
When that demon lord Asa transported us to another deminision I hit a wave of strong energy and felt like my skin was zapped by electricity. Blinking my eyes I guess we're inside a temple. The atmosphere here felt so pure it was almost uplifting.
"Asa what took you," I recognized the voice and turned to see the arch angel Aine. She was dressed in a robe that was tattered and blood spattered.
"Shite! What happened to you?"
Aine nonchalantly brushed dirt off her sleeve. "Just taking out vermin." She turned to Asa. "No troubles I hope." She didn't address Asa warmly more like in a cold business tone.
"None at all," Asa answered in the same cold business air that matched Aine's. "I will take Ryuu and Emiko to there assigned champers."
When Asa left Aine turned to me. She stared at me and I didn't like the look on her face. Then she looked at the unconscious Rina in my arms. She bend down to look at look closely at the girl. "Her transformation has only begun. Puck," She pointed to the a door. "Take her to that room. She should wake up in due time then her training will begin."
Carrying Rina I walked across the room and stopped at the door. The door was a jar and I kicked it wide open. The room was spacious enough and the only furnature was a plane bed and side table. I gently laid Rina down. Her eyebrows wrinkled and her eyelids shifted. She must be dreaming. "I hate to leave you alone, kiddo." I sighed standing up straight. "But I think the missum wants me." I left the room and the door closed behind me.
Out in the cathedral Aine was talking to Ariana and Christian. I stuff my hands in my pocket and walked over to Kuro leaning against a wall arms crossed looking like another emo.
"Hey where's Brant and Aisling?" I asked the demoted angel.
"He took her to another room. She's still unconscious."
The Priestess and her demon servant left probably off to start training. Then Aine turned around and looked directly at me. She didn't look happy and was looking at me up and down with a very stern critical face. "Why do you look like that?"
"Huh," It gave me a few seconds to understand that she was revering to my human form. "Um....its something I'm trying out. Don't I look good." I did a model pose and flash a smile. Aine was not amused. Crap I'm in trouble okay act innocent, I bowed my head and held my hands behind my back.
"Why do you look like that? There's no need for you to appear in that form." Aine said. She took a step towards me and even though I was a good foot taller than her I felt tiny under her gaze. "Sustaining that form will affect negatively on your abilities and performance."
"I-Its not my fault or Aisling's!" I babbled then pointed at Kuro. "It was his doing!"
"Snitch," I heard the Fallen Angel grumbled under his breath.
"Kuro," Aine turned to face him. "What were your attentions to put them in that form?" She looked disapproving at Kuro.
Kuro didn't look scared or even bothered. He stood up straight and look back her boldly in the eye. I had to admit I was impressed. "It was an accident at first." Kuro explained. "But why shouldn't they stay in that form if they wish it."
"They are card spirits and serve under an arch angel in training. They must take whatever form that best suits their master."
Kuro scratched his chin, "You know that sounds kinda kinky when you think about--"
"Silence," Aine interrupted him. "You should not carelessly use your powers to grant people's whim. You are not a genie."
"And we're not miracle workers," Kuro muttered. "But thats what people expect from angels."
"Yes but you are not an angel anymore." Aine said cooly. She turned her back on him and said over her shoulder. "We can make things happened both amazing and terrible things but not without a price."
"Puck," Aine addressed me curtly. "Follow me. I shall speak with and Brant in private." Aine walked away. I glance back at Kuro and then follow behind her.
We left the large chamber and walked down a corridor. It was dark and gloomy. There were windows but they were boarded up with wood and iron bars. It looked like a prison then an sacred temple. Aine stopped at the door where Brant appeared to be guarding.
"Has she woken yet?" Aine asked Brant.
Brant shook his head.
"Brant didn't hit her that hard," I muttered. "She should come around unless you got smelly salts."
"I'll let her wake up on her," Aine said. "Now its time for us to talk." Aine walked away her back turned to us. She took off her coat and flapped it out. The blood and dirt stains on it disappeared when she put it back on it looked like it was newly restored. She took out her pendant and started polishing it absently. She didn't say a word yet and the only sound was the faint squeaking.
Brant and I stood side by side in apprehensive silence. The tension was killing me. What is she going to do and why did she had to take her sweet damn time?
"Puck," She turned her head slightly to look at me sideways. "What is it that you wish?"
"What do I wish? Ahhh milkshake, yo yos, origami..."
"What is it do you truly wish for?" Aine said staring into my eyes. I'm sure she can literally see into my soul. I glanced around, I looked at Brant who looked back at me silent as always and I hesitatingly look back at Aine.
"I...wish to be human....,"
I expected to Aine to blow her top off, scream like a siren but instead she sighed. A heavy, sad pity sigh.
"Oh Puck...you know thats impossible," Aine said. "You can never be truly human."
"Yeah but Kuro said..."
"He make you be able to turned to a human like form, this," She waved her hand at me. "Which is only temporarily and is imperfect. You can't age you can't get sick you have no need to eat or sleep the same as humans do. You can't even reproduce."
Hitting me with the cold hard facts hurt but that something inside of me made me not give up, "Yeah but---"
"Do I have to explain to you what you are exactly," Aine stated.
"I know what I am," I said lowly.
"Then tell me," Aine said crossing her arms across her chest and look back at me poker faced
"I am a Card Spirit...." I started. "No I am a...familiar ....a daeman. I exists to serve my master until he or she no longer needs me. If I die my soul forever roams in Limbo if I betray my master or the Angels or the Forces and Fates they serve then I will forever roam in Limbo. An act of betrayal would be refusing to help my master, refusing the orders of the Angels, refusing Fate's Design."
Aine nodded, "And if you ever truly wanted to be human," Aine began I didn't expected that and started to perk up. "Its not that simply and it can not be easily giving by an angel its part of Fate's Design. For those who had become human they were reborn not magically transformed and it took years. The reincarnation of souls doesn't happened within a day."
I hung my head, dang she can be such a downer.
"I do not know if it can happened to you but I do know you have to be worthy of it."
"Fine then I'll prove my worth."I slammed a fist to my chest in a sigh of my oath. "I protect Aisling until the end and I'll follow the orders of the Angels, the Choir, and the Fates."
Aine said nothing and stare at me. Did I impress her or does she think I'm stupid. "Its both," Aine said startling me. "I can read your minds remember."
"Oh...hehee."
"Prove your worth though take my advice; don't have high expectations." Aine raised her hand. "Now then. You need to recharged. Off with you."
And she spirited us away.
