Continued From: Szayel's First Mission
Szayel wandered around in his lab working diligently on the things Lord Aizen ask him to do for him. There was not much time and he needed them perfect. One reason why Lord Aizen asked Szayel to do this for him. One of the objects Lord Aizen wanted done was rather easy to come by. He already had a diagram of what was to be done. Just getting his hands on the needed materials was all that was required. That, his fraccions gathered for him. Giving him more time to work on the much harder and larger project Lord Aizen requested.
Szayel stepped back from the table that his last project laid on. He smiled widely.
“Beautiful if I must say, and I must say.” He laughed aloud and walked across the room to get one more thing. “I do hope we do not get them confused when they are together. It would be a shame.”
He turned and looked at his masterpiece from across the room. “Maybe I should make a mark on this one that we can use?” He questioned himself. “But where and what?”
He walked back over to the project resting his hands on the edge of the table. At that moment he heard the door to his lab open and close behind the person that entered.
“Come to see if I succeeded in this venture, Cuatro?”
Ulquiorra said nothing, sliding his hands into his pockets, proceeding to the table where the project was laying. He lifted one of his hands letting it slide across the smooth surface of the project. His eyes inspecting every inch of it.
“Should I mark this one so we know.”
Ulquiorra’s eyes snapped to Szayel. “I am no fool. I will know.”
Szayel wore a wide grin as he pushed up his glasses. “I am sure you will.”
Walking away from the laboratory table Ulquiorra slid his one free hand back in his pocket. His eyes looking to Szayel.
“I will bring by the rest of what you will need later. You have done well with this project, Octavo. Lord Aizen will be pleased.”
Szayel still grinned nodding to Ulquiorra as he spoke to him.
Reaching for the door to open it Ulquiorra noticed a familiar reiatsu on the other side. He opened the door quickly finding Ichimaru standing in front of him.
“On your usual rounds, Lord Ichimaru?” Ulquiorra asked him with a curious eye.
"Maybe," the soul reaper replied with an enigmatic grin. "Maybe I just heard something from a mouse about things moving along."
Szayel looked around Ulquiorra and grinned. "Yes. That mouse is correct in the information it gave you."
Ulquiorra brushed past Ichimaru out the door with nothing more to say to either of them. Szayel then stepped up and motioned for Ichimaru to enter.
"Come in a take a look for yourself, Lord Ichimaru. Tell me what you think of my masterpiece."
Gin peered through his bangs at the Octava's project, paused deliberately for a moment, then smirked. "I see nothing to pick at, for all my attention to details. In fact, I would have to say I am impressed."
He walked around the table, inspecting it further from all sides.
Szayel smirked please to hear Lord Ichimaru's praise. “I do pride myself on perfection. I am just worried we will not be able to tell them apart.”
"That could be a problem," Gin acknowledged, tapping a hand on the table nearby. "Wouldn't want the wrong one to suffer the fate prepared for the other, now would we?" He added, sly smile brimming with wicked delight.
"However, I would wait until Aizen sees it to change anything."
Szayel nodded walking over to the table with Ichimaru. “Yes, but I am not sure how we would do this without others knowing as well.”
His fingertips graze over the smooth surface as he looks at the perfection he had created for his master. Szayel then turned walking over to another counter and started working on the other project Aizen needed. He flipped a few pages and started reading.
“I must say this man kept very details diagrams in the things he created.” An annoyed look came across his face. “Too bad this book is a deqoy.” He slammed the book shut and looked over at the object he needed to work on next. He then turned his attention to Ichimaru which was still checking out the other project.
“Will there be a battle? Is that the reason it was created?”
"Perhaps," the soul reaper answered, putting a finger to his smiling lips. "Wait and see."
“I doubt I will be invited.” Szayel said in a annoyed tone.
"I'll bring you a souvenir and tell you the tale afterwards," Gin smirked.
He glanced over at the book in the scientist's hands. "We should have expected as much. That man knows and expects more than he should."
Szayel looked at Gin. “All the more reason to remove him from the equation of ones life.” He tossed the book to the trash can.
Gin chuckled. "So the book is perfect only to annoy the one it was created to fool," he commented aloud, "though you held onto it for a long time. Hoping there was some code to break?"
Szayel looked to Ichimaru. “In reality this is the first time I have truly went through it. Why would I want that man’s creations when I can create the same thing as him and it would be better.”
"Why indeed?"
Szayel nodded with a proud smile. “Lord Aizen.” Szayel said looking at the project on the table. “When do you think he could come by and inspect it?”
Gin waved his hand. "Oh, he'll be by soon, I'm most certain." He paused. "It is, after all, the main event."
"Soon, or as soon as you tell him it's ready."
Szayel nodded. "Yes. I will be sure to do that." Szayel walked toward the door opening it. "Care to walk with me?" Szayel asked not really caring to leave Ichimaru in his lab alone.
Gin smirked. "I think I will do just that."
Teasing the espada about his precious lab could come later, at a less important time. He followed Szayel out.
