Hi and welcome to my world! This is the new home for my random posts about life and other stuff. My myOtaku site still exists but I won't be updating there anymore. So, thanks for stopping by and enjoy your stay!

A Day in the Life of... A Zookeeper?
Hey everyone. As I'm sure you've noticed, I've been less than consistent with my visiting (read: I haven't been visiting). While I'm sure I know what you're going to say, I really am sorry that I haven't been around. I had no idea this job would k...The Job So Far
Hey everyone. As many of you know, I started my job on Friday. While it has definitely been keeping me busy (hence my not being here), it's been interesting. Everyone except Molly read this part: What I generally do (when outside the building) is drive around to county parks and generally just make sure people are following the rules. Then, after the parks close, I go around and lock the bathrooms and gates if there are any. While inside the building (like I was on Sunday), I pretty much just hung out until 4:30 when everyone left and then proceeded to lock all of the doors and other such things. Following that, which took all of 10 minutes, I just hung out in the office and watched the security monitors until 11. Luckily, I had my laptop so I didn't go completely insane out of boredom. And Molly, read this part: What I generally do is follow around the county cops and in the event that something serious happens (like a shoot-out), I take over and make sure the cops don't get hurt. (If you're not Molly but you're reading this, don't ask me to explain. It's a long story.)
Overall, it's not a bad job. There's lots of time to do practically whatever I want, people give me discounts for things because I'm in uniform, and I even got to guard a 7-Eleven for a bit while the owner went to the bathroom. Right now, I'm in training so I'm not going out by myself which means even less that I have to do since someone else is doing the driving.
Other than that though, almost literally nothing has been happening. My hours are 3-11 PM so that doesn't leave me much time to do anything else. The only other thing of note coming up is AnimeNEXT though I may not be able to go this year (I've gone the past two years). My days off are currently Wednesday and Thursday but I'm trying to switch them to Friday and Saturday this week so I can go. Hopefully, I'll be able to make the switch though I'm not entirely optimistic at the moment. Regardless though, if anyone happens to be in the area and is going to be there, let me know. For those who don't know, it's in Secaucus, NJ this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Anyway, on that note, since I'm out of things to say, it's time for comments.
Dagger:
Thanks. I saw a post on his World about cupcakes but I missed the one you linked to. That was going to drive me crazy though so I appreciate the link.
ShadowLight:
Thanks! The job has been good so far. I have yet to see my friend though. And I've definitely missed all of you too. I always love it when I actually get a chance to come back for a little while.
Sabrina:
It definitely is interesting. I'm seeing a whole bunch of places I've never seen before (and from areas not generally open to the public which makes it even more fun).
And you seem to be spot on with your guess on what the cupcakes meant.
Crystia:
Haha, yes. Living is something I intend to do for a while yet.
See, now I'm the exact opposite. The few times I do have time to post, I generally have no idea what to say. They end up turning out alright but I always feel like I'm forgetting something.
Oh, and thanks ^_^
Arayanna:
Yeah but I still always feel bad, even though I know you guys understand.
And thanks!
Molly:
I hope you enjoyed your special section of this post ^_^
I Am Still Alive
Hey everyone. I figured I should drop by and let you know that I'm not dead. Between the end of finals and now, I just haven't been home too much. I do apologize for my inactivity here though. I intend to get around to visiting everyone again though so expect to see me some time soon.
In other news, things have been pretty good lately. There's been a lot of hanging out with friends which has been fun. I'm currently waiting on a friend of mine from Ireland to show up. He's been here in the country for almost three weeks (likely visiting family in other states) so he should end up here soon.
Other than that, not much else is going on. Assuming all goes according to plan, I start work on Friday. My friend got me a job working with him as a security officer for the county police. I'm not entirely sure what to expect yet but it should definitely be interesting.
Anyway, as usual, I definitely had more to say when I started typing this but I forgot whatever the rest was. I should probably be getting to bed anyway though so on that note, thanks for sticking around after all this time and have a great night/day!
Dagger:
That was indeed the anime. Thanks! And yeah, it definitely was fun to hear him live, even not knowing much about him in advance.
Oh, and why do you (among others) have a cupcake next to your name?
New York Comic Con 2008
Hey everyone. I'm sorry that I haven't been around at all for the last couple of weeks. I really intended not to let this happen on the new site but school got the better of me. The end of the semester has been far busier than I thought it would b...Yay for Friday!
Today actually came surprisingly quickly considering it was the first week back after a break. If you read my last post, you know that I had a calc test and a physics test this week and that I wasn't particularly excited about either.
First, the calc test, which I took yesterday. While it wasn't as awful as I expected to be, it was by no means fun. There was at least half of one question that I had no idea how to answer, though neither did anyone else. I'm not looking forward to getting this one back though.
Physics on the other hand is another story. In doing the practice problems our professor gave us, I expected some completely impossible question to show up on the quiz (the physics quizzes all consist of one question). What we got though, unless I messed up entirely, was one very easy question which I'm fairly certain that I got right so at least the week ended on a high point.
All I have left for today is a calc recitation at 3 and then I'm done. Tomorrow, I'll be going to The Stone Pony in Ashbury to see my friend's band play so that should be fun. I don't really have much else planned at the moment but stuff will likely come up at random like it usually does.
And to finish off this post, I'd just like to welcome Sabrina to theOtaku and OtakuBoards. I saw her over at OB yesterday but just found out that she's Crystia's roommate so I figured I say hello. So Sabrina, if you read this, hello and welcome!
And now for comments. Thanks for reading and have a great day!
Mimmi:
Haha, that's completely understandable. If I didn't have to know it, I'd be staying away from it too
Dagger:
With one more week down, I'm sure you're just as excited as I am about the fact that there's just about a month left now ^_^
PhoenixClawth:
I wish you luck with your acquisition of a Wii, though it doesn't look too promising so far from what you said. As for playing online, my Wii will be home to stay as of this weekend so that presents itself as an option (I can't get online with the Wii from my room at school).
snow fox:
First off, thanks for wishing me luck on the tests!
Pretty much no ones' "spring break" or "mid-semester break" or whatever they want to call it makes sense but oh well, it's still a break
And not so bad? I'll trade places with you if you want
Crystia:
Unfortunately, no break is ever long enough. They all go by leaving you wanting more... I'm glad you enjoyed it while it lasted though!
