I`m sitting here, watching the sunrise. I feel the warmth consume me and I bask in the moment. A cool breeze blows by , and I pretend that it penetrates my soul, blowing all my pain away.
"Hey, Chris!" Amanda calls. I turn my head to look at her. She`s still jogging toward me.
`Huh?" I say, agitated. "What is it?"
She sits beside me, to my left. "You`ve been out here all night. I think it`s about time that you come back in. Breakfast is almost ready."
I sigh. "Ok. Yeah, I guess it is." I look down.
"You all right?" She says, with distinct concern in her voice. She reaches her hand to my shoulder.
I move before she can touch it. "I`ll be fine." I stand up and start walking back to the house. She follows me.
"Ok."
"You know what? It`s not OK." I continue walking. "I just ran away from home. When I go back, I know Dad`s going to have my ass. I can`t take it anymore! Why does he have to destroy everything I create? Why does he have to destroy ME?! I`m not all right. This is all that`s left." My friend just stares. "What?"
