Chapter One

It was a good day in RavenWolf Pack, not only was the prey well stocked, but the only queen was about to have her pups. This queen’s name was Greyear. She was a black she-wolf with yellow eyes, she had grey ears. Her mate, Deerclaw, was a brown male wolf with amber eyes. Greyear was sleeping when she felt a pain surge though her. She let out a loud yelp. Both her mate and the Medicine Wolf, Featherwing, came running in. Featherwing had his herbs wrapped in a leaf. Deerclaw had a stick in his mouth. He ran over to Greyear and said. “Here bite down on this.” Greyear took the stick in her mouth. Featherwing said, “Greyear there are two pups coming. Now, push.” Greyear gave a huge push. She felt something slide out. Featherwing said, “Your doing good once more.” Greyear gave another push and she felt another thing slide out. Featherwing said, “Congratulations, Greyear,one male and one she-wolf.” Greyear looked and saw that the male looked like her and the female had brown fur like Deerclaw. Greyear said, “They are so beautiful.” Deerclaw said, “I think the male should be Echopup.” Greyear gasped and said, “Thats a wonderful name and the female will be Velpup.” Yellowclaw, the other queen in the nursery with one pup said, “They will be a handful. I know Foxpup is.” Greyear said, “Well now Foxpup and Brightpup will have play mates. They are a month apart.” Yellowclaw nodded. Featherwing gave Greyear a Borage leaf and said, “Eat this, it will help your milk come.” Greyear ate the leaf, it tasted bitter, but anything for her perfect pups. Deerclaw picked up Echopup and placed him at Greyear’s belly. Featherwing did the same with Velpup. Deerclaw padded to the entrance and said, “I need to get back to my warrior duties.” Greyear nodded and said, “I understand, Deerclaw, but remember to come back after to see your pups.” Deerclaw said, “I will, Greyear.” He smiled at Greyear and the pups.
