3 moons later, Echopup looked around the nursery and sighed. Greyear heard that sigh and said, “What’s with the heavy sigh, Echopup?” Echopup looked up at his mother and said, “I want to go out and play but Velpup isn’t up yet.” Greyear chuckled and said, “You may go visit Beetlewhisker. She gets loney in there you know and it will be a few moons before Moosetail retires.” Echopup’s yellow eyes lit up and said, “Ok, I will go give Beetlewhisker some company!” He pounded out of the nursery. On his way, he bumped into Featherwing, who dropped the bundle of herbs he had collected. Echopup said, “I’m so sorry, Featherwing!” Featherwing said, “It’s ok, Echopup. Where were you going in such a rush anyway?” Echopup said, “I was going to visit Beetlewhisker!” Featherwhisker said, “Could you take her some fresh-kill?” Echopup said, nodding, “Yes, I can.” Featherwing said, “Thank you, Echopup.” He picked up his herbs and continued to the Medicine Den. Echopup padded over to the Fresh-kill pile and picked up a squirrel for Beetlewhisker. He padded into the Elder’s Den and said, “Hello, Beetlewhisker!” Beeltewhisker said, “Is that Echopup?” Echopup said, “Yes it is Beeltewhisker! I brought you something!” Beetlewhisker said, “You did?” She padded out from the hollow tree and over to Echopup and said, “Wow, thats a nice squirrel, Echopup, Thank you.” Echopup wagged his tail and said, “Your Welcome, Beetlewhisker. Can you tell me a story?” Beetlewhisker said, “Ok, how about the one about the great founder of RavenWolf Pack, the great RavenWolf, himself!” Echopup said, “Yea, yea, that one!” Beetlewhisker said, “Ok, RavenWolf was a wolf like you and me, but there was something funny about him. He didn’t have normal color fur. He had fur the color of purple and black and his eyes, oh his eyes were dark. Anyway, He was around when the great leaders, Thunderstar, Riverstar, Windstar, and Shadowstar founded the other 4 clans. They had agreed to let RavenWolf have part of their land, but after a while, Shadowstar thought that RavenWolf shouldn’t have the land saying that the forest was only big enough to hold 4 packs. He proved Shadowstar wrong by recruiting wolves that did not belong in either Thunderpack, Windpack, Riverpack, or Shadowpack. RavenWolf’s deputy, Marshtail, disliked Shadowpack, so he would send hunting patrols across the border to steal prey, RavenWolf knew nothing of this. After a few moons of this day after day stealing. Thank you for the story.” Beetlewhisker said, “Anytime you want to hear another story just stop by. And don’t be a stranger.” Echopup nodded to her and padded out. When he got out of the Elder’s Den, he saw Velpup padded over to him and she said, “Where were you? You were gone for an hour.” Echopup said, “Beetlewhisker was telling me a story about the great RavenWolf.” Velpup said, “RavenWolf was only a legend and Beetlewhisker is full of bees.” Echopup protested, “No, she is not! She a sweet elder. She has nobody left.” Velpup said, “Think what you think, Echopup. Anyway, Greyear is looking for us. Lets go.” Velpup padded back toward the nursery, Echopup followed.
