Well, it’s that time of the week once again. For this week’s post I’ll be talking about another Legendary Pokemon from Generation Five. Presenting the last Pokemon currently in the National Pokedex, Genesect.
The legend behind Genesect is more of a modern legend rather than a myth. And the legend involves the infamous Team Plasma. It began when Team Plasma revived a prehistoric Bug Pokemon from a fossil, but it didn’t end there. They also began performing cybernetic enhancements to the Pokemon. But N, the so-called leader of Team Plasma, didn’t like the idea of a Pokemon being enhanced by science, so he had the project scrapped.
You have to wonder how Ghetsis felt about that decision. I mean he was the true leader of Team Plasma. Anyway, the lead scientist on the project, Dudley, was enraged that N did not recognize his brilliance. So he finished the project in secret, adding a powerful cannon as a finishing touch. And thus Genesect was born. Since Genesect is an event only Legendary Pokemon, it has no location in the games where it can be found and captured. So I’ll skip ahead to the next part of this post.
Signature Move: the powerful cannon on its back produces Genesect’s signature move, Techno Blast. Techno is a your basic Normal-type attack, and a powerful one. But there is a way to change its type. The way to do that is through the four drives that can be used on Genesect as a hold item. When the Burn Drive is inserted into the cannon, Techno Blast becomes a Fire-type move. While the Douse Drive is inserted, Techno Blast becomes a Water move. With the Shock Drive, Techno Blast becomes and Electric-type attack. And with the Chill Drive installed, the cannon becomes a Freeze Ray and Techno Blast becomes an Ice-type move. These drives are acquired by defeating Dudley at the P2 Labs once you have Genesect, but you only get two of the four. If you’re playing Black/Black 2, you get the Burn and Shock Drives, and obviously in White/White 2 you get the Douse and Chill Drives.
The Next Movie: I thought I’d close this post by talking about Genesect’s coming appearance in the anime. And that appearance is in the next Pokemon Movie. Of course nothing is really known about this next movie other than the fact that Genesect is going to have a staring role. It has yet to be revealed what the plot is, or if there are any other Legendary Pokemon that’ll be making an appearance. Of course I can think of at least one that might.
That covers it for next week I think. What other Legendary Pokemon do I think might be appearing in the next movie with Genesect you ask? Well, it just so happens that the Pokemon in question will be the subject of next week’s post. And it’s another Pokemon that had an evil organization involved in its creation, at least in the anime. So until then, stay tuned.
