Hey hey, look who's on time! For this post, I'll be covering the battle theme of one of the villains from the Colosseum/Gale of Darkness spin-offs: Miror B!
Well, to be honest, I haven't really played Pokemon Colosseum--I'm planning on it soon, since I just picked up a copy--so I can't say with certainly what Miror B's exact relationship to Cipher, the villainous team of the Orre Region, is. I think he's a high ranking commander? Correct me if I'm wrong. His battle theme, however, doesn't exactly convey a villainous atmosphere....
...Hahahawhat?
No, but this really is a very fun theme. It is absolutely impossible to not move to the beat while listening to this. I love the salsa feel that was given to this, especially with the horn instrument--it sounds like a saxophone backed up by trumpets, but I can't really figure it out. The piano in the background and the conga drums keep up the beat very well. And I never get tired of the random guy in the background shouting "DANCE-A!" Overall, though this theme isn't threatening or villainous, it certainly fits Miror B's...interesting personality. That, and the fact that his entire team is Ludicolo. AAAAAAARGH.
In the sequel, Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness, Miror B has been kicked out of Cipher and runs his own team, Team Miror B: it's a team made up of three people, including himself. But hey, they're one of my favorite parts of the game! The main purpose that Miror B serves in this game is to give a second chance to catch any Shadow Pokemon you miss throughout the game. However, for such a smaller role, Miror B's revamped theme is so much cooler.
Wow. Did you hear that beginning? This is straight out of seventies police movie funk. My Mew, I've heard this so many times that I can probably sing the whole thing to you right down to the awesome guitar lick. I love the mix of guitars and trumpets. It just makes you want to dance! I remember the first time I heard this: I legitimately stared at the TV screen for a minute and just let the music play. This music has convinced me that I want to cosplay as Miror B. No judging.
And our remix for the evening!
Hm. Well this is interesting. I can't tell if this is supposed to rock or techno. I wish there was more piano--sometimes I think I can hear it, but sometimes I think it's just in my head. I kinda like how the beginning was handled, and the part at :35 is fun too! However, I have to say that I like the original more. The reason I like the original so much is the seventies funk, and this took a different approach which, while still fun to listen to, was not as dance-worthy as the other.
Well, until next time, ciao~!
