Pokemon Jukebox! - Halloween Special

Three years ago, a lone man stood atop a mountain. This man had acquired the ability to bend time and space to his will, and on that night he used his control to bring forth two great deities. But the creatures of the night did not take kindly to this man's playing god. With a tremendous roar, the earth itself opened up, and the man was swallowed into a dark and shadowy realm and fell into the clutches of its ghostly master, never to be seen again. Tonight, we invite you to follow this man into the shadows of the world. You are now entering the Distortion Zone.

Welcome, friends. Welcome to the Distortion World. Please watch your step: the gravity doesn't cooperate as often as we'd like. I see you've followed after the fallen god Cyrus to get your own look at our world's parallel. Perhaps you'll even see its shadowy master; be warned, though, I've heard the last person to look into his eyes went slowly insane afterwards. But let's not have that ruin our tour! Come along!

Ah, the sweet music of the shadows. Listen to those church bells, don't they echo so nicely against the nothingness? There's not much to the song, but sometimes simple is better. Rarely is there much background behind the melody, but it's enough to send chills down your spine. Why, I think I can hear screaming at :40, how delightful! And if you listen hard enough in the background, I think you can hear ghosts. Certainly a relaxing mix, isn't it?

Hm, it appears we've begun to break down. Perhaps we're entering the mind of some poor fool who's seen the eyes of Giratina. Oh, though I shouldn't speak that name too often, otherwise we might warrant a visit. Why, I haven't heard anything this dark since looking at the true form of Giygas! Ah, but that's another story, my children. Ooh, hear those bells at :54? So violent and without rhythm! Something's probably coming. I can hear a muffled scream there at 1:19. Perhaps Giratina is closer than I thought. Doesn't this just unnerve you, though? Someone took all that relaxation from before and threw it into the figurative blender, didn't they? Oh, but did you hear that at the end? I must have said his name two times too many! Come now, better make a run for it, before we end up like the sap whose mind we've visited!

Well, seems like we're alive. Congratulations, my last tour wasn't so lucky. Moving on, however. Seems like we've gotten ourselves deeper into the Distortion World. This music's beginning was slightly creepier, see? But the drums have been added, and you know what they say about the sound of drums. Seems like the tempo's faster as well. I enjoy that lovely slowdown at 1:46, it reminds me of the stillness in the River of the Heavens--a much more pleasant place than here, my friends. This music is much creepier. But, yet again, there's a certain relaxing atmosphere in the air, isn't there? Even with the increase in anxiety with those lovely drums, it still gives an odd sense of calm. Perhaps it's because nothing really happens in this world? And maybe that's the creepiest part about this. Wouldn't you agree?

Ah, but enough of my rambling! I must leave you now. I do hope you find the exit: straight through the remnants of that lunatic's mind, remember! Oh, why can't I lead you out? My friends, my friends, what a silly question! Why, though you are harmless visitors in this shadowy world, you'd be foolish to believe that these shadows would act so harmlessly in that light-filled world of yours! And mind the giant ghost-dragon as you leave! Ciao~!

((That's one of the more interesting things I've written in a while. Hope it wasn't too odd to read! The Distortion World is one of my favorite pieces of music in all of Pokemon history, and I've been looking forward to writing about it. Hope you enjoyed, and I hope you all had a Happy Halloween!))
