A brand new trailer for Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon has more than confirmed that Team Rocket will be showing up in the new games, and I'm not talking about those three losers who chase after Ash and Pikachu. Giovanni has returned with all his minions under the name, Team Rainbow Rocket. Take a look for yourselves.
One unsettling thing about the trailer is that Giovanni seemed to be using Mewtwo in his battle against the player. It also appears that the leaders from other villainous teams of the past will also be showing up in the games. An image on Bulbapedia seems to imply that these other villainous leaders are working as part of Team Rocket. I guess this means that Giovanni has formed his own Legion of Doom. If you're looking for a proper thematic excuse to pick Rowlet as your starter Pokemon in the games, this would be it.
The trailer also confirms that practically every Legendary Pokemon from the previous games will be available in Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon. Both Bulbapedia and serebii.net have given additional information that some of these Legendary Pokemon are version exclusives.

Additionally, like in OmegaRuby and AlphaSapphire, there are certain Legendary Pokemon that only become available by having a certain pair of version exclusives together in the same game. For instance, Suicune only becomes available when you have Entei and Raikou, Giratina only becomes available through having Dialga and Palkia together, and Landorus only becomes available when you have both Tornadus and Thundurus. Rayquaza and Kyurem are also Legendary Pokemon that need certain pairs in same game to appear, and you can probably guess which pairs are needed from the lists above.

UPDATE: Some more info about Team Rainbow Rocket has been posted on serebii.net. It confirms that Giovanni brings together the leaders of the villainous teams from past games to enact whatever new evil plan he has. At the moment, the motivations of Team Rainbow Rocket are unknown, but they apparently take over both the Aether Paradise and the Festival Plaza. I'm guessing this is some sort of major post-game event.
Really starting to wish I hadn't killed off Cyrus in my series of Pokemon fanfics.
UPDATE 2: I was just looking at serebii.net to see if there were any updates on the information covered in this post, and I found out that apparently the Mewtwo that Giovanni uses is able to Mega Evolve into Mega Mewtwo Y. In other words, Giovanni is armed with the most powerful version of Mewtwo that exists.
That whole Team Rainbow Rocket event in the games is going to be really tough to beat.
