Um...Is This Okay?

Hello everyone. I know it's been an eternity since I've posted anything in this world, and I've actually been meaning to post something here ever since getting my hands on Pokemon Sword. I was thinking I'd do some reviews of the game or something like that. For right now though, I'm just going to talk about a very, very, very, very, very...very, very, very, VERY weird experience I just had playing it.

About two or three days ago, I finally figured out how to trade Pokemon from that game via the Internet. I know it doesn't seem like that hard of a thing to figure out, but I'm a little tech-inept at times, and this is the most advanced game system I've operated. Anyway, for the last few days I've pretty much just been wheeling and dealing in a mainly to get Pokemon only available in Pokemon Shield or Pokemon that evolve only when traded. It hasn't been easy with these online trades though because they're kind of random. You don't know who you'll get matched up with or whether or not that person will have a different version of the game from you.

Needless to say, there's also a fair amount of blind trust involved in these trades. For instance tonight in order to get the Poked data for Zamazenta, the Legendary Mascot for Shield, I had to take a leap of faith and offer my Zacian as a trade and hope that the other person would do a trade-back. It was the very last trade I had tonight though that was the really weird one; a trade that was so ludicrously generous that it's almost madness!

It all began when I realized that I still needed to get a Rhyperior. So I slapped a Protector on a Rhydon I captured a few nights ago in a Max Raid Battle and got online to trade with someone who'd do a trade and then a subsequent trade-back. It didn't take long to get paired up with someone, a trainer who went by the name Ginny in the game. I traded my Rhydon and then got it in a trade-back as a Rhyperior just like I had hoped. I then decided to reward Ms. Ginny by trading her a Boldore I had lying around unused in my Pokemon box for ages, and she trades me a shiny Dusclops in response. Said Dusclops evolved into a Dusknoir, and soon after I realized that Ginny was hoping that I would return the favor.

So I just trade back that Dusknoir and got my Boldore back as a Gigalith. Now here's where we get to the really, really, really, really...really, really, really, REALLY weird part. As it seemed that Ginny wanted to keep trading for a bit, I decided to try trading her a Braviary I had, thinking that she might trade me an exclusive Pokemon from Shield. The Pokemon that she offers up as a trade is a Mew. I accept the trade thinking that this girl is going to cancel, but no! The trade went through without interference!

At that point I'm just standing there thinking, "What just happened?" I decided to try trading Ginny another Pokemon I had besides Mew just to see how she responded. She ended up breaking the connection essentially. Needless to say that at this point I'm pretty bewildered. In regards to further trades, I decided it best to just disconnect from the net and walk away for the time being. I of course also checked out this Mew that I got and found that it was Level 100, and that it had the Pokerus! I also found that it didn't even belong to Ginny originally according to its Trainer ID.

So I really don't know what to think about all of this. A part of me feels like I ripped this other player off somehow. Another part of me is wonder if there's some sort of catch to this trade too. I mean...am I supposed to trade this Mew to someone else now or something? The whole thing just makes no sense! Maybe I'm just overthinking it all. Well, the whole incident has just left me feeling pretty strange, so I'm going to end this post with the video of a particular song that comes to mind at times like this, or rather a particular version of a song that comes to mind. Here's William Shatner's rendition of Rocket Man.
