Speed?

"It's a quiet night..." Mear told me as he started to sketch again in his notebook and the wind picked up a little in the distance. I nodded, agreeing with him. It was quiet... and somehow it was a little easier to talk to him in it. That's different.

Mear closed his sketchbook for a moment and sat across from me. I paused with the cards and looked up at him.

"Do you know how to play speed? It's a pretty fun card game...." He left off, which got myself a little curious.

"I've only seen it before a few times in casinos I was haunting, so no... not really," I told him as I reset the cards, touching the cards, and setting them between each other. With his combined shadow and the parasol's, I noticed that the cards would stay floating. Thank God.

"I could teach you if you don't mind..." He suggested as the wind picked up a little and knocked a card off the deck and onto the moonlight. Crap.

I decided to try something.

"Shadow Sneak," I whispered and my shadow moved off of me and walked on its own. Literally.

I put two fingers on the ground like a little stick figure and made my stick figure move over to the card and pick it up. It acted like a real person, no joke. I made it flick the card over to me and I caught it, my shadow going back into place and Shadow Sneak ended its course.

I put it back on the deck and looked over at Mear. He must have seen my Shadow Sneak.

"If you don't mind me asking, what move did you just use?"

"Shadow Sneak. It's something new I just learned." He paused before talking again, which also made me realize that he had left his sketchbook down for some time. I wonder if that's different for a Smeargle gijinka?

"I guess I should teach you speed now, correct?" He made me chuckle a little.

"Yes, I should think so."

Did I get Mear's personality right, KC-chan? I hope I did. Heh. ^-^'

Dark Red

“I’m… really glad you’re staying” Lupe stated. I couldn’t help but look at her and nod a bit. A part of me for some reason was ok with staying. I let out a breath and then finally made an answer.

“Yeah…” was the answer that left my tongue. I hadn’t expected to say more yet for some reason, as I said it, it seemed like an insignificant comment.

“….. You said you was a traveler right?” Lupe started again.

“Indeed.” I answered as I tried to find more of something to say besides just a simple answer. However, as I started to think about something to say, Lupe continued talking. I was somewhat thankful for the fact that she didn’t seem to see my answers as insufficient.

“Was it pretty lonely traveling by yourself?” Lupe asked.

“Not really,” I answered back with a short answer once again. I finally gave up all together of saying anything more than what came to mind first. It just made things easier.

“Oh… I wouldn’t like to travel alone. I actually hate it. It’s no fun, ya know?” Lupe smirked.

Now this indeed somewhat confused me. Fun? I had never really taken it to consideration. Traveling was just what I did… what did she mean fun? My eyebrow raised, and I looked at Lupe puzzled.

“Fun?” I asked waiting for her to explain.

“Well, yeah. Hanging around with others is fun, ya know?” Lupe answered. Not… exactly the answer I had in mind. I let my eyebrow sink down again and then shrugged a bit.

“Well, I wouldn’t know.” I answered back. Indeed, I had never really considered it before. This was something different indeed. I found nothing fun in staying around large groups of people… there were… just too many… and yet somehow there were people that apparently liked being around them. I moved my head to one side and gave her another inquisitive look.

“Mmm…. You…. well…” Lupe stood up and stretched as though she were just biding time for a moment. Her eye moved down again, and she looked at me. “You will have lots of ‘fun’ here, bud. That’s a 100 percent guarantee!” Lupe laughed before turning and appearing to head back to the house. After a few steps, she turned back and looked at me as though she were going to say something more. I waited.

“And don’t be running off from us. We don’t bite… much,” Lupe smirked and then winked. This left me half dumbfounded for a moment before I smirked and stood up myself. Looking at my sketchpad and then picking it up, I turned my head and noticed that Lupe was walking in a strange step towards the house. I stood, snagged my sketchbook, and then started to follow her.

“Lupe?” I asked, but she didn’t seem to hear me. She just continued straight inside the house still walking in a dazed way. “Lupe…” I said again but was once again ignored. Suddenly she grabbed at her head and dropped straight to her knees.

“Lupe!” I asked moving a few steps forwards, but she didn’t say anything before falling straight forwards. My body moved before I could think, and I seized her right before she could fall completely on the floor. Slowly the process and carefully setting her down on the floor of the house, I let out a sigh. What had happened?

My eyes darted around for anyone within the immediate vicinity to help. Suddenly every seemed tense as though a bulk of them knew what to do. Finally a few of the Gijika took Lupe up and through the house. I mentally sighed and decided to try and relax. Returning to my chair and opening my sketchbook once again, I started to draw tense shapes that slowly evolved back into calm drawings.

Looking up again, I noticed that a shuppet Gijika was looking at me from where she was sitting. She smiled, and I gave a half smile back. A part of me worried what had happened to Lupe, and yet another part had already come to terms with the fact that if I tried to help anymore, I would probably get in the way. I looked back at my sketchbook and started drawing again.

Hearing the sounds of cards move on the table, I looked up again and noticed that she had started to play with a deck of cards. In that half a second, I understood that she probably played cards in the way that I drew. It was probably something that had started from liking and had simply evolved into habit. Indeed this was the way many things in the world seemed to work. I looked back down at my sketchbook again and started a new page. Looking back up, I started drawing the darkness with heavy shades of deep red.
After another moment, I looked up again and found that the cards were floating in air and then sat down as if on command before dealing themselves out in front of the shuppet.

"What's that?"I asked more or less forgetting my grammar edict again. This was starting to turn into a habit that I did not exceptionally like. The shuppet looked up from the card game half startled, and for a moment, I wished I had said nothing and just continued to draw. However, what was done was done, so I simply waited for a response.

"It's... um... I don't... um... I don't really know how to explain it," the shuppet answered looking extremely nervous. I sighed being able to relate this back to the scene earlier where I had been trying to explain myself to the crowd back in the house. She stated a new game, and the cards were once again floating in mid air.

“Ah,” I answered unsure of anything else to say. After a moment, I just fell back into silence and started drawing once again. “Habit then?” I asked.
“Ya…. I guess you could say,” the shuppet answered.

“Ah,” I answered as I started to realize that I was just filling the page with excess ink. Sighing, I flipped to a new page and started again. “My name is Mear by the way,” I said not looking up but continuing to draw on the new piece of paper.

“Shupple,” was the answered. I gave a nod and looked up and then down again.

“It’s a quiet night,” I commented as the sound of the pen scratching the paper mixed with the sound of wind not far off. I resisted the urge to yawn and just continued to draw. Looking back over at Shupple, I closed my sketchbook for a moment.

“Do you know how to play speed?” I asked sitting across from her. “It’s a pretty fun card game….”

Chii's Backstory and His Entrance

Hey~! I'm new here :3 And sorry for interrupting, just shedding some background light on Chii before he pops into the story~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I’d seen the ocean every single day when I woke up since I was even born--same boring old place with its small beach surrounding a small jungle and only housing an astonishing ten or other residents. I wanted to leave. And badly at that-- this place was cramping a bit on my style, I mean, I haven’t even SEEN Cinnabar Island and I only live a couple miles from it.
Well, looks as though I've gotten my wish, hasn't it?
The storm rolled in the fast that I barely saw it until it was right on top of our little island.
"Guys...?"
The clouds grew darker, heavier. The wind picked up.
“Hey guys??” I turned around. Nobody. Well that’s odd.
Thunder clapped once and I spun around to see the ocean growing restless. I’d seen storms before, but none that gave my heart such a start that I knew it was going to be very, very bad.
“Guys!” I scrambled to my feet, the wind almost knocking me down and ripping my sandals from my feet. Rain began to pour and lighting flashed off in the distance. “Hey, hey! Everyone off the island! We need to swim to the mainland!!” Mainland? Heck was I talking about--I didn’t know where the mainland was! Well that’s just peachy.
“HEEEYYYY!!”
I looked in all the houses. No one. Nothing.
Then a thought struck me, so cold a callow I almost didn’t want to think it at all.
Did they… Leave me?
I had no time to think on it as the lightning turned to booms of ear-spitting thunder. I screamed despite myself, my courage gone with those I trusted as friends. Immediately I darted into my hut and took out all of the things that I needed and were water-proof, stuffed them in a bag, and ran out the door just before the rain and wind swiped my hut from the ground and smacked it against a tree.
Fantastic, Chii my man, just the time to wear short-shorts and a skin-tight top. Heck, that’s my wardrobe basically but still nice going. I was annoyed a bit talking to myself, but it seemed to be the only way to keep me even a little sane in this raging storm.
Just before I made it to shore, though, I felt my long bulb earrings get caught in a tree and I stumbled. Oh please no! I made sure not to wretch myself from the tree, those earring amplified my electric power and I winced at the pain as the bulb sparked and fizzed, its light turning on an off. But I had to hurry. One more pull and… Yes!
I sprinted to the beach, not even glancing at the churning water as I dived into the ocean that was my element. My second home. .. That was about to turn me into churned butter. I sputtered, hitting the surface. I had never swam in a storm before so I had never anticipated its raging power. Waves pulled me under each second and as I tried to swim one way, the water only pulled me back. “Fight it, Chii!!!” I growled at myself, loud so I could hear myself above the storm.
“Well, well--what do we have here?”
Oh. My. Lanta. I did not want to deal with this right now.
“Get away from me!!” I screeched. But they just kept coming, their fins cutting through the storm easily.
Thunder cracked and I yelped as the water tossed me into the Pokemon I did not want to see. Sharpedos.
“Having a hard time there, bubble boy?” The three of them sneered.
“I have to get--”
“Too bad he’s a Gijinka chinchou… He can drown.” They smirked.
My eyes widened, not seeing the gigantic wave until it was too late. It over-took me quickly and the sharpedos dove under to keep me under. I was chinchou, yes, and I could hold my breath for a very long time underwater… but I was also Gijinka. I could die.
I trashed under there, trying, but failing as they tossed me along with the storm above us.
After only three minutes, I couldn’t handle it anymore. So I blacked out.
~~~~(ARRIVING AT HEADQUARTERS)
I woke up sore and confused, knowing that I was on land by the grass I could feel beneath me. But the grass was soft, not course like it was supposed to be…. Where am I?
I tried to look up, but failed horribly as I felt the bleeding cuts and my sore muscles give out. I lay there only staring ahead, wondering why the trees where so…. Fat. Not island trees. Just fat trees. Fantastic. I’ve landed in fat-tree land.
My ears perked up. Voices. Oh come on, haven’t those sharpedos…..
Wait. No. It wasn’t them. I looked up weakly to find that I was at the edge of a forest and from between the thicket of trees I could see a very large building and voices coming from that area.
Well, whatdoyaknow--Help… Maybe.
With the last of my strength I shouted out, “HEEEEYYY!!” Before collapsing and fading into black.

Well its not much of a background story, but I wanted to give a least a bit of his life before PGR before him coming into play.

Cards...

I walked out of the main hall, grabbed my parasol and playing cards, and decided to go outside. It was more peaceful when it was dark outside with the moon only showing. And it was the only way I was able to get rid of my headache.

Going outside, I found Lupe being rushed inside, seeming to be out like a light, so I decided not to worry. She normally did fine with everybody else in the club... I walked over to a tree and sat down under it, the tree branches drooping low, giving a shadow and darkness over me.

I noticed I was near the guy who made this place, Mear, I think. I could say hi to him, but whenever I talk, especially at night, something bad happens. Something always does...

I glanced at him and smiled, which he returned with a small one. He went back to his sketchpad and I went back to my cards. I never really understood why I liked playing with cards, since I'm a ghost Pokemon and they practically go right through my hand in the moonlight, but in the dark, I'm able to touch them and play with them. I could never understand why it was like that.

Placing my deck on the ground and opening up my parasol and putting it behind me, the shadow looming over the cards, the cards literally lifted up into mid-air, floating in front of me. I touched the top of the deck and a few cards laid out in front of me, so I decided to deal a few cards, and I started up Solitaire for myself.

"What's that?" I looked to where I heard the voice, and I saw Mear right in front of me, his sketchbook wide open in front of him. Why was he talking to me?

"It's... um... I don't... um... I don't really know how to explain it," I muttered, but it was loud enough for Mear to hear. Great...

I started out a new deck, and once again, the cards were laid out in front of me, floating in mid-air.
