I struggled with the weight of Sable on my back. Lee had gone... somewhere. He had disappeared shortly after we got out of there. Even though my eyes were taking in the buzzing mansion, my head was still swimming with what had occurred not long ago...
[FLASHBACK]
"Lee! Someone's coming!" Sable whispered loudly. I looked over at the Hitmolee, who was looking in different cells.
"Go on, I'll be there shortly," he whispered to us. Looking concernedly between him and Sable, Sable sighed. Then she motioned for me to follow her. Grabbing her hand, she fazed us both through the door. Sure enough, a guy in a lab coat was standing there, looking at the ground. Following his gaze, I found that, although we were invisible, and shallow puddle on the floor showed our feet.
"I know it's you, Sable!" he said out loud. Sable froze, and she let our invisibility drop. "You've become quite infamous, but I think I can take you!"
Considering the options, I found there was really only two. Stay and fight, and risk getting all three of us caught, or run and leave Lee. However, Sable seemed to have a mind of her own. Her smirk told me she was up for a good fight.
"Sable..." I muttered. She put a hand out to keep me behind her.
"I'll beat you with one hand behind my back!" she taunted. "In fact, we'll even odds even more. You can use two pokemon at once!" He smirked.
"Alright then, let's go!" he threw two balls. Out came a Mr. Mime and a Mime Jr. Sable didn't hesitate to put the Mr. Mime to sleep with Hypnosis before the scientist could attack. "Mime Jr! Use psybeam!" he called. Sable took the hit in her hand, and took very minimal damage.
"Heh, that attack won't hurt in a million years! Now... Nightmare!" The sleeping Mr. Mime started twitching and spazzing. I shivered. Sable's Nightmare has scared me since the first time she used it. Suddenly, the scientist smiled.
"Go! Hoothoot!” Sable just laughed, but his next moved made her quit. “Mime Jr.! Use Mimic!” She stopped in mid laugh, utterly shocked. Suddenly, we both realized what was about to happen. The guy took advantage of her hesitation. “Hoothoot! Hypnosis!” Attack hit before Sable could move. “Now, Mime Jr.! Nightmare!”
I knew I couldn’t have stopped it. There was no way. But still, I couldn’t help but feel like I should have done something. Lee had come in and saved both our butts, but before I had time to thank him he had left. Maybe he had found his family. Maybe he needed time to think. I was too tired and concerned to ask.
Now, it was already the next day and I had just reached the mansion. Feeling Sable start to shuffle again, I set her down on the grass.
She was always so fearless, I thought she wasn’t scared of anything… I thought. Maybe I should leave her here to go get help. The mansion is right there… Standing up, I felt a sudden tug on my sleeve. I looked over to see Sable had grabbed it. Tears were forming in her closed eyes.
“Kat…” she muttered. Was she awake?! “Don’t go! No, please… I…” her grip released, and she was still again. What was she about to say? Shaking it off, I picked her up and carried her piggy back the rest of the way to the mansion. Once inside, I made my way to where I hoped was the infirmary. Luckily, my turns and guesses were correct, and I managed to locate the infirmary. Doctor Zaishi wasn’t there, and I sighed. Setting Sable down on the bed, I stood outside the door hoping to catch a stray passerby who might know where he was.
