Hey. Just to let you know, there's a character in here that only appears in this story. She's one of my other gijinkas, but I'm just using her here to get Melody's story on. It's not a predetermined OC/rival that will appear again later in the storyline. P:
"Ow!" Melody exclaimed as she sat up. "Sorry!" she added, peering over her knees at the person she had just rudely bowled over. The person was female. She wore a green t-shirt with a light green and dark green striped, long-sleeved undershirt. The bottom half of her outfit consisted of a blue jean miniskirt with green leggings, and finally two small brown shoes. Melody looked at her face. She had pink eyes and bright green hair. What was most surprising, though, was the Flygon wings and tail protruding from her body.
Melody raised an eyebrow. Was this a human dressed for the "contest"? The girl's tail swished slightly and her wings stretched. No; that was authentic. This chick was a Flygon gijinka.
The girl stood up and rubbed her head. "I'm fine," she said. "You dressed for the contest?"
"No," Melody replied. "I'm the real thing. You are too, because you can move your tail and wings. You need to be careful about that, or the humans will get suspicious."
The Flygon girl threw her head back and laughed. "I'm not worried," she said cheerfully. "They'd probably think these were mechanically operated. Say, Miss Mudkip - yeah, it's pretty obvious what you are - what's your name? I'm Watermelon."
Melody stood up and brushed off her dress. "Melody," she stated. "I escaped from a Bounty Hunter base."
Watermelon's eyes widened. "Whoa! That's pretty impressive! But you better not go around saying that," she whispered. Melody nodded. "I'm not stupid," she replied curtly. "Alright," Watermelon sighed. "Just wanted to make sure. You won't believe how many stupid gijinkas are out there." At this, they both laughed.
The two girls strolled through the marketplace and talked to each other about various things. It was easy to talk to the Flygon girl. She was understanding and funny. When they passed a fruit vendor's stall, Watermelon bought them some plums and nectarines. Melody devoured hers; she hadn't had anything this good to eat in many months.
Too soon, their acquaintanceship came to a close. Watermelon said that she had an appointment with a Vibrava, and he would be arriving very soon. Melody's heart leapt and she wondered if that Vibrava was the one she had assisted in escaping the base. If it was, then that meant that there was hope for the others. But she didn't question. The girls bid each other good day, and went separate ways.
Melody wondered into the nearby forest, hunting for berries to gather and eat. She eventually found a lone, large Pecha berry bush loaded down with its pink fruit. She ran over to it and began picking berries. She ate some of them and gathered others into a small pile that she would save for later. When the berries became harder to find, she crawled beneath the bush to get a better view.
Suddenly, she heard voices. She froze. The faint sound of footsteps was steadily growing louder. Bounty Hunters was her immediate thought. She hurriedly adjusted her position so that she could leap out and attack more easily, but in the process made a great deal of noise. The footsteps halted. "Hmmm?" came a feminine voice. Dammit! Melody shouted to herself. They heard me!
"Hello? Is someone in that bush there?" the voice said again. Melody bit her lip. If she gave them any more time, they could bast the bush apart and find her. No way was she going to go back to that hellhole. In one swift movement, she slid out from under the bush and stood up. She didn't even let herself have enough time to examine her enemy. "HYDRO PUMP!" she roared. With a quick sweeping motion of her arms, she summoned a huge jet of water and blasted it forward.
Continue?
Melody.
