"Our next battle is Breloom and Stantler vs Melody and Nina. Please report to the stage, contestants!"
It was Melody's call to fight. She gave her apologies to Hon ("Excuse me, I'm sorry, we'll talk after I win this thing") and began making her way through the crowd. No sooner than she took her first steps, however, another announcement rang out: "I am sorry to inform you so late but we have some bad news to report. Due to the lack of participation in battle and by the judges' scores, Eva and Estelle's battle disqualifies them and the winners are the Purugly and Crobat. Block B is in the lead 2-1 over Block A. That will be all."
Melody felt her blood boil. Unfair screamed through her mind, but there was nothing that she could do other than win the fight for her team. As she clenched her fists and stiffened her resolve, a small water pitcher at a nearby food stand burst. She jumped at the sudden noise, but then giggled - her determination was just that strong. She gave a small backwards glance at Hon, then continued to make a path through the throng of humans.
As she arrived in the backstage area of the arena, her excitement about battling heightened. She eagerly scanned the tops of people's heads, hoping to spot a pair of ears or the such like standing out. The only gijinka she found, though, was the Stantler. He approached her with a bright grin. "Greetings, opponent!" he exclaimed, grabbing her hand and shaking it with vigor. "I'm Stantler! I assume you're either Nina or Melody, yes?"
The Mudkip pried her hand from his grip. "Um, yes, I would be Melody," she replied. The Stantler's cheerful attitude was slightly unnerving to her.
"Oh, oh, I see! Man, all of the pretty gijinkas are on the other team. You see, I met a teammate of yours - a Poochyena. Poochy was her name, yes! You're rather cute yourself, Melody!" He was positively beaming.
Melody, being an easily-flustered female, felt her face heat up at this abrupt compliment. "Uh-uh..." She was at a loss of words and felt a strong desire to simply run away. Fortunately, the Breloom happened to take Stantler's attention by tapping his shoulder. "I do believe that you are embarrassing the poor lady, Mr. Stantler," she said calmly. "I think that you should channel your energy into fighting instead. I believe Miss Melody would enjoy a vigorous battle, correct?"
Melody nodded, thankful for Breloom's intervention. The Breloom gave her a small smile and flicked her finger, motioning for her to leave when there was still a chance. The Mud Fish Pokemon did not hesitate, and disappeared around a corner. It was there that she found her partner, Nina.
The first thing that she noticed was that the Female Nidoran was younger than she expected. Melody felt a slight pang of disappointment. Hopefully she'll make up for it when we fight, she thought. I must believe in my partner! "So," she said to Nina, "I hope we'll be able to go out there and send those two gijinkas into orbit! Let's do this!"
Nina opened her mouth to say something, but was interrupted by a stagehand steering the two out into the arena. Stantler and Breloom were waiting on the other end of the stretch of stage. The heat of the crowd bore down on all four of them.
"And now! Ladies and Gentlemen, let the fight commence!"
The two teams sprang into action.
Continue?
Melody.

I made it so that Nina could continue with the first half of the battle, and I could finish it up. Hope this is workable! :)
