Ladies and Gentlemen, let the battle commence!
That statement acted as the starting gunshot. Both pairs of gijinkas shot forward, racing towards each other across the stage. The sound of limbs on ground became the new way to measure milliseconds. As four pairs of feet ate up the metal floor, a voice called out: "Melody! I'll take on the Breloom if you take on the Stantler! It'll be easier that way!"
Nina has damn good strategy.
Melody jerked her head in agreement, and met the Stantler in midair, positioning her leg so it would slam into his side. He blocked her kick and threw a punch of his own. She scoffed, and caught it without trouble. In response, she brought her knee up to his stomach, an attack he barely dodged. He stuck out his leg as he moved in an attempt to trip her. She reacted in just enough time for the tip of his foot to just graze her shin. Her chocolate eyes bored holes into his ruby ones and issued an unspoken challenge.
You've got to do better than this if you truly desire a victory.
"Shadow Ball!"
"Mud Shot!"
The two projectiles collided, negating each other. Melody and her opponent jumped back a few feet, prepared to barrage the other with relentless attacks. he aimed a Psychic at her head, she parried with another Mud Shot. Her move happened to mar Stantler's cheek. He gritted his teeth as a thin trickle of blood slid down his face and grinned maliciously. "You're pretty good," he stated, "But how's your partner holding out? No offense, but she looks rather... weak."
"Poison Sting!" Nina's voice rang out, as clear as bells. Toxic needles became embedded in the Breloom. She stumbled backwards, apparently stunned, and injured as well. Melody laughed. "I think she can handle it," she replied. "Ice Beam!"
This time, Stantler was too slow. The move hit him square in the stomach, sending him backwards. He growled, swiftly regaining his composure. "Psychic!" he shouted. The attack was a direct hit. Melody felt excruciating pain erupt in her skull. Her vision began to swim, and she began seeing double vision. Bright colors occasionally flashed here and there. He's in my mind, she told herself. He's trying to disorient me. Shake him off! She threw several random moves at him. The last one grazed his arm, enough to break his concentration. "Nice!" he exclaimed, "But now you're a little discombobulated, correct? Too bad. Just when things were getting interesting, too! I guess I'll have to finish you off now. It's a shame that you ended up substandard."
It was this taunt that set something off in Melody. Her focus returned fully, and flaming fury erupted inside her. Stantler tilted his head, interested. "Do not," she hissed, "Don't you dare call me 'weak'. You" - she released a regular Hydro Pump at him - "don't" - instead of letting it simply collide with him, she coiled it around his body - "know" - she squeezed her fist - "me."
Stantler was at Melody's mercy now. She violently constricted him with her rope of water. "You do not know what I have been through! Call me weak again! Say it! Say it! I'll kill you!" she shrieked. His only response was a gurgle and a squeak as he struggled for breath. Perhaps it was that noise that abruptly turned her blind rage into horror at her actions. She gasped, immediately releasing the suffocating gijinka. As he gasped for breath, she began a string of apologies. He held his hand up to stop her. "This is battle, yes? So no hard feelings," he said, getting to his feet again. Wow, he can forgive easily... Melody thought.
A cry of pain rang out from behind her. She spun around just in time to see Nina fall back, her ankle bent at an odd angle. She winced as she stood up. Melody whipped her head over to see the Breloom advancing on the Nidoran. With some quick thinking, Melody blasted an Ice Beam across the width of the stage, successfully creating a temporary barrier between the two teams. "Nina!" she shouted, running over. "Sit down!" She did as Melody asked. "Alright. Aqua Ring!" Nina's foot and ankle were surrounded by water, which Melody used to heal the injury. She had just finished when there was the sound of ice shattering and-
"Energy Ball."
Her head snapped up in time to take Stantler's attack directly to her temple. She keeled back, but caught herself before she could drop. She felt warm blood gush down her forehead and over her left eyelid, forcing her to keep that eye shut.
"Toxic!"
The Breloom's move was directed towards Nina, but Melody stepped in front of her, taking on the poison instead. "You won't hurt her again, you two!" she announced, shaking her head. She could already feel the poison seeping into her veins. The two enemies began to advance on them.
"Hey, Nina," Melody murmured.
"H-Hm?"
"Those two aren't finished yet. But they're in a weakened state. Now, I can't last long with this toxic stuff in my system, but I think we might just pull something off. What would you say to a few combo attacks?"
Nina's eyes widened.
Continue?
Melody.

Ugh, sorry if I got carried away! I can always edit. I just had this giant flash of inspiration. I don't mean to make Melody look like a hero or something, I just don't like the idea of a hurt Nina. She grows on you, you know.
And there you have it! I'm so awful at writing action scenes. .______.;;;;
