Many Thanks to You

Luis awoke to a dull throbbing in his brain and someone wiping a cool cloth across his forehead. "Well, hello, sleepy head," the person, apparently female, whispered, continuing to apply the rag to his skin. He let out a groan in response and struggled to sit up. After some assistance from the mystery girl, he was able to get himself upright. He opened his eyes. "Where... where am I?" he inquired, scanning the small, dimly lit room with plain beige walls.

"You're in Gijinka Headquarters, sir," she responded. "Some one brang you here while you were knocked out and bloody, so I brought you in." Luis looked over at her. She appeared to be in her mid-teens and of average height. Judging by her large, fuzzy, bunny-like ears, she was a Lopunny gijinka. She titled her head, waiting for a reply from him.

"Thank you very much for tending to me, Miss," he finally said. "I am Luis." He stood and bowed politely.

"Yeah, yeah, whatever. The name's Lupe," she introduced herself. "Might I ask what brought you here?"

"I was running from Bounty Hunters sent to execute me. I used the forest as my cover. I had expected to eventually end up in some small village, but it just so happened I stumbled upon this place. That is pretty much all there is to it."

"Well, Luis, you're lucky you ended up here! This mansion's open for any gijinka who wants to lodge here, but keep in mind that once you decide to stay, I won't let you leave so easily~!" Lupe pointed to herself as she said this, a prideful look on her face. Luis blinked. "You will let me live here...?" he asked incredulously.

"Are ya deaf? What did I just say?" Lupe huffed, a hint of irritability in her voice. The Lucario her question was directed to couldn't contain himself any longer. He sprung forwards, trapping her in a rib-crushing hug. "I am so grateful! Many, many thanks to you!" he exclaimed, his tail wagging back and forth.

After her initial shock, Lupe managed to wriggle herself out of Luis's grasp. "What was that for?!" she wheezed, clutching her sides as the palest shade of pink crept onto her face.

"I-I was expressing my gratitude," Luis replied, a confused expression on his face.

"Well next time, give me a warning!" Lupe's Aura flared up as she stated this. He winced. "Oh. Okay." He stared at the ground as his tail drooped, crestfallen.

"...Look. Why don't you go and see what the mansion is like? There are plenty of people to get acquainted with," the Lopunny stated after a pause, giving him a reassuring pat on the shoulder. Luis nodded. "Much obliged," he muttered, taking her hand and giving it a squeeze. He took his leave before she could react. As he wandered through the corridors, he couldn't help but believe this was the dawn of a wonderful new experience.

Continue?
Luis.
