I walked through the forest quietly. The sounds of movement were faint and far off, and I preferred it this way. It was coming upon noon, and out of habit more than anything, I was beginning to want my afternoon cup of tea. However, I wouldn’t stop today for I knew that there was a town not far off soon enough, and I could get something there.
The bag that I was carrying was starting to cut into my shoulder due to gravity and its own weight caused by all of the supplies that I had deemed to carry. It had been several months since the flames had depowered my hard work as well as separated me from the rest of my family, and after the fire had finally stopped, I had gone back to salvage all I could. And this was it. One bag full of a once huge dojo… only one.
Shaking my head, I found that I was starting to depress myself yet again. I wouldn’t let it happen. I would recover my family and rebuild…. Yet I still didn’t even know if any of them were alive…. Shaking my head yet again I tried to clear my head and balance out my thoughts. In that moment, I envied my younger brother Chan’s ability to use Calm Mind to clear his own thoughts. Instead, I was left with possibility after possibility that seemed to only weigh me down. I was the eldest….. I should have been able to stop the hunters from……
Suddenly a sound seized my attention, and my head shot in the direction of the sound. Several starley were spooked and leapt into the air from their nests. I set my bag down and turned to view what I knew to be coming towards me. After a moment of tenseness, a Pachirisu jumped out from behind the brush and darted up a tree. I let out a calmer breath. It worried me that I had become so tense after only a small amount of time. It was not nor could it come to any good if I let my heath be wavered by stress.
However, even as I understood the need to relax, I was still tense. The only way I had found that seemed to relieve this tension that built itself in the tendrils of my soul was to run full out and full speed. Stopping and shifting the bag on my shoulder once more, I brought my back leg up a moment and then kicked some of the dust behind me. With that, I burst into speed. It was not a move of Extreme Speed, however I do not doubt my abilities to move fast. I continued to run through the forest careful to avoid any pokemon that might be harassed by my sudden movements, and soon enough I found a perfect momentum.
I continued to run and would have run for miles had not my eye caught something white at the last second. Forcing myself to stop, I dug my heels into the ground and seemed to freeze in place. The obscurity of the white that contrasted so well in the green brush made me wondered if it were a human house or something of the like.
Because of my stop and my momentum canceled, I found a sudden destruction of energy, and I wouldn’t be able to start up running as easily again. My eyes continued to stare at the white contrast, and I found that I had unintentionally drawn closer to see what exactly it was. The house… was huge… far larger than the dojo I had raised my siblings in and far grander than any I had seen.
Wondering if maybe one of my family members had stopped at this mansion triggered some sudden hope in me that I was not quite sure what to do with. It wouldn’t…. hurt to look…. Further….I started to approach closer and closer the mansion keeping my eyes on anything suspicious that might appear. Suddenly the idea that maybe this was a hunter base seemed to run like electricity through me. I took a sharp step back and started eyeing things far more sharply waiting to see if any kind of trap appeared.
Why had I not considered that earlier??? Was the roar that was now beating through my head. It could easily be a trap! Just like they had trapped me the first time! I was completely on edge now, and I felt the bag I had been carrying drop down beside me as I started to give the entire mansion a three sixty look over. My eyes were sharp and extremely determined to find some form of a camera or trap. However, there was none….
So then… I had become tense for no reason yet again…. I slowly let myself relax and then returned my attention to the front of the mansion. It seemed relatively welcoming now that I looked more closely at it, but in the back of my mind, I was making excuses for the fact that I had tensed so easily yet again. Breathing out and relaxing, I decided to put aside my hunter thoughts and consider this logically. It was indeed a mansion. I had observed that just as I had observed an opponent at the dojo. There were no doubts. There was also nothing apparently threatening about the house so it could not be a hunter base… no. I could not bring myself to rule out that possibility, so I finally made a compromise and let it sit in the back of my mind. So then… what exactly was this mansion doing so buried in the brush? What exactly was it?
Back at the dojo my master had taught me that a Gijika was three parts fool one part genius. However, I couldn’t tell if this one part fool was ruling my judgment at the moment or not. I honestly could not tell. However, curiosity wished to know more, and I had always strove to understand things as much as possible…. Aside from the evils of the hunters perhaps…. They would just stay evil in my mind, and that was it…. Anyways, yes I would look into this house in the forest.
I stepped closer and closer until I was finally standing directly at the door step. My eyes moved and surveyed continuously as the index finger of my left hand seemed to raise itself involuntarily and ring the door bell. I turned my head back straight to the door and waited to see if anyone would indeed open this door. Whether I was using the genius or the fool, I was about to learn.
