Winter Spirit

Lee

Daniel had made a reference to staying for the night, and after being somewhat beaten to the punch, I complied. However, a Luxray came through the kitchen and started shooing everyone off to bed. I made a minuscule protest, but he didn’t even seem to notice that I was not a resident of the mansion. He simply seemed to continue to order people to go to bed. I raised an eyebrow, looked at Daniel and shrugged. Daniel said something about going up to a room and started to walk up. I sighed and followed for a bit before walking into an empty room and then closing the door after.

The room itself was somewhat aesthetically pleasing yet I had not slept in a room since I had started to look for my siblings and found the confines of my room not pleasing. Opening a window, I took my bag and scaled down the side of the mansion. Once on firm ground, I moved my bag to a different shoulder and started away from the mansion. Heading off into the shadows, I went off into the forest and found a sturdy tree to climb up into and lay in. I was not a fan of imposing on anyone, and I was more in tune with being outside anyways. Relaxing, I looked up passed the trees and at the shimmering sky above. The moon was bright and bathing everything in white light. It was… exceptionally peaceful. And this was what I liked most about the world.

My eyes fluttered open to the morning sun just barely making it over the mountains far off in the distance. The sounds of Starley, Pigy, and Tailow clamored in the early morning air harmoniously. Stretching up and then looking down towards the ground, I saw that my bag was on the ground just where I had left it, and several miscellaneous pokemon were trying to open the bag.

“Sorry little ones,” I said causing the pokemon to instantly stop and look up somewhat confused. When they finally registered what I was, the all scattered away from the bag.
”It’s alright,” I answered down to them as I came down the tree myself.

The pokemon that had fled away slowly came back around me. There were several pachirisu and a few bunnary. I bent down to their level and looked at them again. Reaching out, I took my bag back and gave a nod. The pokemon seemed to look at me in question as to why I was outside rather than in the building only a couple of meters off. I just half laughed and smiled.

Then it came to mind that I had somehow managed to lose the entire day. I could have been all the way to the town by now. Sighing, I slung my bag over my shoulder and prepared to be off again. As I was passing the mansion, I noticed that someone was coming out of the mansion. My eye moved, and I saw a Lucario Gijika coming out and looking somewhat sleepy.

“Good morning,” I said looking at him.

“And good morning to you as well,” the Lucario answered pleasantly. “I don’t think I have made your acquaintance. My name is Luis.”

“My name is Lee,” I answered.

“A pleasure, I’m sure,” Luis answered giving a very large smile. “How long have you been around here?”

“Actually,” I answered. It was then that I realized that that was not exactly what he was meaning when he had asked. Oh well….. “I just stopped here for the night. I am looking for someone, and I need to be on my way soon enough.

“Ah I see,” Luis answered disregarding my misinterpretation and putting a hand up to his chin as if to consider something. “Who are you looking for? I might have seen them on my own travels.

“I am looking for three Gijika one a hitmonchan named Chan, one a hitmontop named Top, and one a tyrogue named Rogue.”

“Forgive me but I have not seen any of them,” Luis answered somewhat somberly.

I gave a nod and a sigh.

“Thank you anyways,” I answered gently. “Now I will be on my way then.”

“Ah,” Luis answered making me unsure as to what to answer with or whether or not to answer at all. I was about to start walking off when I found that my stomach all but roared causing a half smirk on my own visage. Indeed, it was still morning, and I hadn’t yet eaten. I would probably stop and get something in town.

Luis’s ears seemed to twitch, and I became aware that he had heard my stomach as well. In a cautious manner, he started talking again.

“How about you at least come inside and get something to eat,” Luis suggested. “The Gijika here are very very hospitable.”

“I don’t like imposing,” I answered lightly. “Not to mention, I do need to get into town and look around.”

“Taking thirty or so minutes before hand would not be so bad would it?” Luis asked quietly.

For a moment, I was about to refute but found that indeed it was true. It was still early in the morning, and I could at least share some tea with a fellow fighting pokemon. I gave a nod.

“Alright,” I answered. “But I will only share some tea and things, and then I will be on my way.”

“Alright,” Luis answered, and for a moment, his face seemed extensively excited before he stepped back and then stepped forwards in a strange motion of embrace. Now this I was not sure as to how to react, and impulsively I squirmed away. “Oh sorry,” Luis answered after I had managed to get a few feet away once again. “I was just happy…”

I nodded a bit and then forced a smile. Indeed, I had not quite met anyone like this before. Then again, I had spent most of my life raising young fighters in a dojo. Shrugging to myself I just continued to nod.

We both walked into the mansion that was still quiet except for the occasional sounds of sleep that accumulate. Heading into the kitchen I had seen the day previously, I stopped and made tea once again. After a few minutes, I had two cups and a tea pot in hand. WE both decided to go into the backyard to ensure that we wouldn’t accidentally wake someone as we continued talking.

Outside there was a table and a few chairs in which Luis took one on one side of the table and I sat in another. We both turned the chairs somewhat sideways to be able to view the backyard even as we drank. The tea was hot as it ran down my throat, and yet it was refreshing to say the least. After a few sips, we began somewhat of a conversation yet again.

“I am relatively new myself,” Luis began as he continued to take small sips of tea. “And judging by the way you were ‘passing through’ I guess you are rather new yourself.”

“True,” I answered back. It was somewhat nice to talk to another fighting pokemon. “I have only been here a day at most… well considering the night that I spent outside.”

Luis didn’t seem to judge this choice of sleeping areas but rather kept the conversation going. “So then I guess you are not planning to stay at the mansion then.”

“Indeed, this isn’t a home, and I am looking for my family. We were separated due to a hunter attack, but I will round them all up sooner or later,” I answered.

“Your confidence is admirable,” Luis answered. “I have had my own encounters with the hunters.” He seemed to sigh the last two words rather than actually say them.

I sipped another bit of my tea before talking. The morning air was crisp, and I was left thinking about when it would warm up again.

“It is cold out,” I commented somewhat off on my own version of a tangent.

“Truly,” Luis answered. “But it will be spring out soon.”

“What day is it?” I asked now realizing that my track of time had been shifted due to my traveling. It was still winter that was obvious yet what month? What day?

“It is Valentine’s day,” Luis said almost as if it had just suddenly come to mind.

I stopped somewhat surprised by this sudden statement. Indeed it was. I felt a strange pang in my stomach thinking about last Valentine’s Day when Ken the Combusken had asked Rogue, my little sister, to be his valentine. It had made me laugh at first knowing that they were getting closer and closer, but this was not what made me sore. I had hoped to have found all of my family by this time and had hoped to get a laugh at watching Ken and Rogue’s relationship grow. Shaking this thought off, I nodded at Luis.

“Indeed,” I answered. “I hadn’t even realized it.”

“I had forgotten until just now,” Luis answered. “It seems to have snuck up on us both.” He gave a half laugh, and I found myself giving a half nod.

“Indeed,” I answered.

Suddenly I noticed a shift in Luis as if he were considering his own thoughts as I had been only a few seconds prior. He seemed to nod to himself as if concluding something. I turned my head to one side, but he just smiled back after a quick moment.

“You didn’t leave anyone important behind when you went looking for your family did you?” Luis half-joked. I shook my head and just somewhat laughed back.

“Nope,” I answered back. “I’ve never been into the ‘relationship’ thing… I’ve been too focused on taking care of and training my younger brothers and sister.”

“M,” Luis answered back lightly in a non-judging way. “Today is just another day though.”

“Yep,” I answered sipping the last of my tea and setting the cup down on the table.

If there's something that doesn't seem right feel free to tell me ^_^. I just figured since both Lee and Luis were new, they could chat or something while everyone goes off having Valentine's Day stuffs.
