Shupple
“I... think we should head back inside for a bit," Mear told me with a nervous laugh. There was something overcoming me... a warmness or something....
I didn't exactly like the idea. I liked being outside here with Mear... It made me feel... better... or was it good? Perfect maybe? I then realized I was also cold in this air and I agreed.
"Ya... Just for a bit," I told him after a moment of going through my thoughts just to make sure this was correct...
Almost immediately, I turned on my heel, my hair standing on end from the cold, and clasped my hand on the handle of the door. Mear was now actively at my side, and we both walked through the door. The music was pounding in my ear as I watched some of the other club members dancing around, some doing the tango. I suddenly looked at Mear, not knowing why I just did this, but then quickly looked away once he met mine. I took a deep breath and let it out, feeling a bit of blood rising to my cheeks.
“Do you want something to eat?” Mear asked and I paused. I was a little hungry...
“Um..... alright...” I asked after a moment and just with that, I followed Mear to the snack table. He grabbed a little chocolate short cake and some punch, I taking the punch in one hand and Mear taking the chocolate short cake thing. Once we found the table, I sat down at one end and Mear on the other. I didn't exactly mind the set up at the table, but for some reason, it actually... kind of annoyed me and I didn't know why.
“How about… I move the chairs over a bit and maybe….” Mear started to say, which made me a little confused. He wanted to change the layout or something? I wouldn't blame him since he was an artist but... this seemed different this time... “Um....”
“Hm?” I hummed to him, confused.
“Like… um… move the chairs around the table and sit side by side… that way… uh…” I then realized what he was talking about and felt myself blush scarlet. Mear looked down as I couldn't help but look at him for some reason, then suddenly looking away. What was I doing? Was I really that nervous?
“You know like sit closer together… or… we can keep sitting like this… um…” Mear took a deep breath and collected his thoughts as I looked back at him. “How about a game of cards?” What? Cards? Now?
“Right now?” I asked him, raising my eyebrow and my eyes dodging his eyes by looking out at the dance floor.
“Um… uh… ya,” Mear answered to me and slowly, I moved my hands through the air and my cards appeared in my hand.
We did a slow game of speed, but I didn't really want to keep it silent among us. I kind of wanted to talk to Mear a bit more...
“The um... wish I was talking about outside was um... something I had wished back a few years ago and uh-” I was cut off by a hands slamming down on the table. I looked up and noticed that it was Gray. What did he want? He quickly clicked his fingers and all of the cards appeared in his hands. What was he-?
“You don't get your cards back unless you dance the tango, got it?” Gray chuckled as he went off skipping into the crowd and disappearing. I rose my eyebrow and so did Mear. The... Tango? Excuse me?
