*Chii*
The night of the ball had gone wonderfully…. For the most part (They tore my PANTS OFF!! D8 LUX WILL DIIIIEE!). But nothing had prepared me for the next few events in my life.
I’d dropped off Lupe in her room, kissed her hand, and said goodnight. Everything was going well until I suddenly felt an ominous chill run down the length of my spine. What the….? Something was wrong. Something was here and I didn’t like the feeling.
Next day, it just got worse.
I heard wails, I heard Hoom screaming which gave me such a fright I nearly bolted for her room and would have made it too if the window beside me as I ran had not flown open.
“GHAHHH!!” I bolted back where I had come, heading for the kitchen. I needed knifes, garlic… ANYTHING!
As I headed down though, using my strong, long legs to sprint like a frickn’ deer, I heard another sound. Crying.
I stopped immediately, looking around to see where it had come from. “H-hello…?” I could only say it above a talking whisper, but nevertheless they heard me.
“C-Chii?” It said. It sounded like a little girl’s voice.
“Allie! Allie is that you?” I ran to the nearest door and swung it open. There sat the azurill Gijinka, curled up in a ball, hugging her pearl tail and crying. “Allie!!” I swept her up in my arms without hesitation. “What happened--did something hurt you?” I looked down at her, scared not only for her but for the rest of my new Gijinka family.
Was it not just me being haunted?
“Chii!” She finally opened her eyes, probably just recognizing me. “I-it came at me! I was asleep and it touched me! Then I saw a ghost and--”
“Shh, it’s alright I got you.” I looked around while I said it, not really ready to tell her how scared I was myself. Then I put her down, though she still clung to me. “I’m not gonna leave you, Allie. Now listen we have to find the others, something’s not right and we have to stick together. You understand?”
“Yeah,” I let go to wipe off her eyes, as if a bit ashamed.
“Come on,” Gingerly I grasped her hand. “First we’ll get to the kitchen and grab some garlic and then we’ll find--”
“Garlic?”
“Well… I saw a movie once when I went to one of the bigger islands. Apparently you scare ghosts with garlic.”
“I think that’s vampires.”
*sweat drop* “Darn it.”
But we wasted no time in going preceding to the kitchen anyway, hoping we’d find someone along the way.

The snow outside was pure torture. I mean, it was February but still, it wasn’t snowing in the least on the islands.
I had been walking for days and yet the snow had just begun to appear. AGUH! And where was everyone? Had we been separated already?
I stared around myself. Alone. Fantastic. That storm had taken away everything and now I was stranded in the cold and on the mainland no less without proper direction.
And what’s more I didn’t have much clothing (clothes were troublesome) just some baggy pants and some sleeve cuffs.
BB was freezing even more than I was. I had checked on her a few times, calling up to my berry friend that wove her roots into my hair to keep from falling, “BB, you okay?”
She only squeaked a reply which I had translated as, “I’m alright.”
I knew she was lying. “BB the sanctuary should be here. We’ll find it.” I wish I was as sure as I sounded. This Gijinka sanctuary I’d heard about a few times before must be real. And it must be near here.
I wondered for hours and finally I spotted a lights up ahead.
Finally.
“BB I see something. Hold on.”
I trudged onward. I couldn’t feel my feet anymore, my arms had lost their muscles to the cold, and I knew BB couldn’t last much longer.
When I was at the door step I finally noticed how very large the structure was. An enormous mansion, fit for many. It’s perfect. Maybe they had a phone so I could call and see if the others made it back.
I knocked three times and when no one answered I had no pertinence on my part so I used a weak razor leaf to unlock the bolt between the door, then left myself in.
Instantly a cold feeling on foreboding came over me. What kind of sanctuary was this?!
This place it haunted--I could feel it all around me though I was already half frozen. No time to wait for someone, though, so I kept walking along the first hallway I came to.
It wasn’t long before I was found out.
“Who are you?!” Someone shouted from behind me, a bit on edge, probably because of the spirits that resided here at this time.
I turned to see a Gijinka and I sighed. “I’m new here. I need help please--Me and my companion are frozen half to death.”
They nodded and quickly came to me, though I could tell they were still cautious.
In my mind I thought to myself bitterly, that fool Chii better not be here. He’s the last person I want to see in a place of safety.
