“Mear… wait don’t…..” I spluttered out to him, but he didn't seem to listen. I didn't want him to do this. He didn't know how dangerous this could be for him. He started to walk out of the crowd, and just as he did that, a scream let loose in the group. I looked around, and noticed that spiders had started to surrounded us. Okay, not even that scared me.

People started splitting up, but Gray tried to stay by my side. I knew he didn't exactly like spiders, so this was kind of hard for him.

“Night Shade!” I whispered, and huge spikes appeared from the floor, striking the spiders around me, and Gray using Poison Jab, he struck the ones around him.

We kept on repeating this until the spiders slowly changed into locusts, and not even that scared me, but it freaked out Gray more and soon, him and I got separated from each other, and I was left alone with the locusts surrounding me. I didn't like locusts, but they didn't freak me out. I wasn't hit too much, but once in a while, they did hit me. I breathed hardly from the fight around me. The wounds I had inflicted on me before were now open and not helping me at all. I winced as my chest wound pulsed quietly and started to throb.

“Now isn’t this a better game than what that little girl wanted to play?” the ghost figure exclaimed hysterically, which made me look up at him. I tried to find something wrong with the ghost, but all I could see was revenge in his eyes, and happiness in his face. He wasn't like the other ghost. He had an attachment to this world, and I couldn't figure out what it was.

He saw me looking at him, and smiled maliciously.

“Not afraid, little girl?” He laughed as he floated down to me and smiled evilly.

“A Banette.... Always an interesting specimen, if I might say so myself. Always looking for the lost soul they lost in their life. What's you purpose, girl?” I realized he was a scientist, from looked like from his clothes on the inside of his cloak, but it kept on changing, so I couldn't exactly make out.

“I don't have one,” I spat as I threw off some of the locusts around and I noticed that there were some leftover spiders from the earlier fight. I tried to dodge them, but the wound in my chest acted up at the wrong moment in time.

The hooded figure disappeared and I was left to fend myself off from the spiders, but it was harder than I expected. I was losing blood, and I rarely knew I was. It was what was making me weak, and not around of my surroundings. I didn't even know there were spiders behind me until one jumped onto my back.

I froze, and instantly, the spider on my back bit into my collarbone, and I shrieked in pain, I wincing as I grabbed the spider and threw it off me.

“SHUPPLE!” My named was yelled out. It was Mear. I could see he was trying to get over to me, but I collapsed onto my knees to the floor, the spiders changing into locusts and surrounding me.

They started buzzing frantically around me as they saw the blood in my back, and started to hit me as much as they could. I couldn't even feel the pain. I could only feel myself drifting off every few seconds.

I heard footsteps rushing towards me and the batting of locusts with a sketchbook as I looked around me, looking for the hooded man in the cloak. I saw him out of the corner of my eye, laughing manically as the locusts slowly changed to something else I couldn't make out.

“Shupple! Are you okay?!” Mear exclaimed worriedly and I shook my head as I tried for a small smile.

“I.... I was bit in the back by a spider,” I told him as I tried to concentrate on Mear's face, and even though it was hard, I did keep my eyes on him, they wavering from time to time. I tried to stand up, but Mear forced me back down.

“You shouldn't try to stand, Shupple. You're hurt too much,” Mear told me in such a worried tone, I took me a second to realize he was extremely worried about me. I wonder why that was....

“What...? I... I need to at least try to do something,” I tried to tell him but he shook his head.

“You're not going to do anything in that state, Shupple.” I sighed hoarsely. I wanted... to at least... try something.... And then I found myself confessing something I never in my life expected to do. I wanted to tell... Mear.... for some reason....

“It's... so weird... this fight,” I chuckled and Mear suddenly got confused. “This fight.... it's half worthless... Not like you, Mear,” I told him and surprise came onto his face. I looked him straight in the eyes and smiled. “I... I kinda... like you more than I ever expected to like somebody, Mear... I... really like you...” I told him and he just seemed stunned, trying to probably understand what I had just said.

And with telling him that, I turned my head to the hooded figure and used Shadow Sneak on it to get his attention. He froze and just looked at me.

“You're sad, aren't you? … You're life must have been horrible for this to be happening to a ghost like you.... You're sad about something... Something that you didn't want to happen to you.... Your heart his clouded and hidden away by such anger.... You must have been killed by someone close to you that you trusted... Am I correct?” I asked the hooded figure, and he showed hate and pain on his face. He immediately broke the Shadow Sneak, and waved his hand through the air.

I felt myself thrown back, my body skidding against the floor, with myself immediately drifting off.

“You don't understand! You don't understand anything!” The hooded figure exclaimed.

With that last statement made, I felt myself drift off into blackness....
