I stirred in my bed, flashing images of what I had dreamt still fresh--Lupe crying, being blinded by rage as Cheruu provoked me, a wild and angry thunder storm… But even as I opened my eyes I began to laugh.
None of that was ever real.
Cheruu couldn’t be here and there was no such thing as a giant demon that we fought in the middle of the night. It wasn’t possible, and I wasn’t about to tell myself any different.
I leapt from my bed enthusiastically, feeling very awake, and to my utter surprise found that I was still wearing my everyday clothes and not my pajamas.
I stared. “…That’s weird.” Then I chuckled to myself. I must have never dressed out! ...Yeah that’s it!
Whistling as I brushed my teeth and combed my hair, I waltzed out of my room and into the hallway, carrying a rolled up blue mat. Morning yoga would be perfect right about now~!
Everyone I passed was either very freaked-out looking or very tired-looking. I greeted them heartily with a nice, “Good morning, sunshine~!” And they either glared or ignored me. A select few nodded back.
Ah well~!
In haste I made it outside and headed for the lake. There I saw someone I’d never seen before, and, feeling still in a good mood, said, “Hey there!”
They were clearly meditating and did not hear me coming, so they jumped nearly out of their skins. As he turned and stood, I saw that he was tall (a few inches shorter than myself), blond, wearing a loose blue and yellow sweater, yellow and blue pants, gloves, and cute little blue tail. How come I’d never seen him before now?
“You new here?” I called, coming closer when I knew he’d calmed down a bit.
He looked me down as well, well he’d never seen me before, either. His red eyes flared as he stated, “Mmhm, I’m new here--Sparks the manectic.” He held out his hand and I took it.
“Chii the chinchou.” I replied, then let go of his hand. “I’m sorry I interrupted you, Sparky--”
“Sparks.” He corrected automatically.
I laughed. “Yeah,yeah--Well I was out to do some yoga exercises here. I love the lake.” I smiled. “But if you want me to leave you to your mediations I’d be happy to move on over to the other side~”
I looked again me for a moment. I knew he thought of me as some kind of wacko right now, but like everyone else he’d eventually get used to it.
“So?”
He shrugged. “Sure I guess.”
I grinned. “Alright, Sparky--”
“Sparks.”
“Hahaha--I’ll teach you the ropes~” I handed him the mat. “I’ll let you use this. First time?”
“Uh… Yeah. Kinda.”
“Then you’ll need it--it’ll make the hard ground more bearable.”
I started with slipping off my shirt and throwing it to the ground, then undoing my earrings and goggles. He again looked at me with an uncomfortable glance. “Makes me feel more flexible.”
“I am not doing that.” He stated.
I shrugged. “Alright~ Let’s start with an easy one.”
He unfurled the mat, laid it on the ground and looked to me uncertainly for instruction. Only Scotty usually used to do yoga with me back on the island, so this slightly passive and serious guy would certainly be different for me to instruct.
“Downward dog to start.” I said.
“Downward WHAT?” He looked at me skeptically.
“Just fallow me, silly XD”
I bent down and touched the grass in front of me. He didn’t seem to like that much. “Relax, Sparky.”
“SPARKS.” He huffed. “Come on, do something else--this is lame.”
Something in my mind sparked. Too… Easy…? An evil grin spread.
“Then let’s do this one. Crane pose.”
“What?”
I decided to answer by action. I placed my hands firmly to the ground and lifted my legs up and into the crook of my armpits, making them suspend into air. I held there for a moment, then looked to Sparks. “Well?”
“Uh--”
“And THEN!” Oh yeah, I was enjoying this. I hadn’t done yoga since I was on the island and it felt awesome to be showing off a bit again. “Then we move gracefully into peacock.” keeping my arms firm to the ground, my legs unfurled and spread out in the back of me. A bit of sweat dripped from my neck and on my chest. Augh, it’s been a while alright--I was getting tired already.
Letting my straining arms muscles relax, I eased back into a sitting position and looked at Sparks.
“Hah... Gonna try it, Sparky?”
He almost growled at the third time I’d used the nickname, but instead answered. “I think I wanna meditate.” He turned from me to return to his meditation position and I chuckled. “you have fun with that yoga junk.”
“You knew it was cool.”
He did not answer me, but closed his eyes.
I sighed. Alright~ More yoga time for Chii! There, I continued my morning exercises. What a great day this is turning out to be!
And no fake dream Cheruu to ruin it.
