Drift in the Wind

Shupple

While I waited outside, I sat down on the couch, thinking about everything that was going on and talking to Raine. I think we all needed a break from Lux and his crazy but lovable antics. I knew the festival was getting closer and I was scared on the inside. I didn’t know what would happen when I got there, if Shift would show up and do something that threatened everything but that wasn’t really what was bothering me. What was bothering was how long Lux and Hoom were taking until I got an idea in my idea. It would get us all to relax and it didn’t seem like such a bad idea…

“Hey, we should have a girl’s night,” Raine said with a smile, taking the idea from my head and into her mouth. I smiled.

“Yeah. I think there’s a restaurant across the street from here. Besides, we need to eat,” I said with a smile and she smiled and we talked about what we should do until about maybe thirty minutes passed and I couldn’t hear anything going on so I stood and hoped Hoom would like the idea, so I lightly tapped on Lux’s door and popped my head in with Raine behind me.

“I hope I’m not interrupting anything,” I said with a small smile and I could see I had interrupted a makeout session. Oh well. Lux needed to be calmer anyways.

“Nope you are fine Shupple. We just finished talking,” Hoom said with a smile and then quickly looked at Lux and said, “Even though you still owe Gil an apology.” Hoom smiled and Lux just looked at her curiously before I spoke up. A girls night out wasn’t so bad to ask about right?

“Umm… Hoom, why don’t you join us for supper? Shupple and I are heading to the restaurant across the street and you should join us!” Raine said instead since I didn’t speak up but we both stood there, smiling.

“I would love to; it sounds good,” Hoom said as she went over to Raine and hugged her.

“Wait a blasted moment girls! What about me?” Lux pointed at himself and I laughed a little under my breath. “I’m starving!” I turned around in my tracks and smiled at Lux in a sickly sweet voice.

“Well, have fun here! We are going to have a girl’s night,” I said with a smile and Lux brought the big kitty eyes. They were cute, but no.

“WHAT? But Shupple…. hahaha don’t be cruel, at least bring me something back,” Lux whined and begged and I quickly gave him the death glare.

“Nice try Lux, but those eyes won’t work on me,” I told him and Hoom and Raine just giggled at the sight. I would have to keep Lux in line, it seems…

“Bye Lux!!!” We all sang and left him to his peace and quiet of no girls around him. I had to admit, it was really funny. We started to head down silently to get out of the hospital and over to the restaurant when I realized I left my wallet.

“I left my wallet,” I chuckled nervously and Hoom just told me they would wait for me down in the lobby so I went and headed back up to Lux’s room and when I got up there, his door was open just a little bit and I could hear him chuckling nervously on the phone so I stood there quietly so I wouldn’t interrupt his conversation but it sounded… familiar.

“Yes she is fine, she was a bit perplexed earlier, but she is calm, but sir, I did not get your name. May I ask who I talking too and how do you know Shupple?” I heard Lux say and then a reply on the phone and I heard Lux’s voice change.

“Bro…brother?” It had to be Tanner. He’s the only one that goes by that title with me… Another reply on the phone and Lux’s voice changed again. I had to admit, it was kind of funny.

“WHAT?!” There was a pause. “I mean, I’m sorry but I am not Shupple’s boyfriend…” Then there was a reply on the phone and Lux sounded completely flustered.

“Gahhh, well yeah you were talking about panties and yes she does have a great figure but she and I are best friends nothing more. I would never force myself onto her; she is too genuine of a girl.” I blushed at what Lux said. At least he was true to his word about this kind of stuff.

“Well... hahaha… I did once and she smacked me across the face and hit my head but then gave a slight smile. Her butt was pretty juicy I guess…hahaha a good squeeze.” Oh my god, Tanner’s wanted to know that for ages… And I still really wanted to hit Lux for that again…

“Haha, well, I am glad you think so I look forward to meeting you in the near future.” I thought that was the end of the conversation but it apparently wasn’t because I had already slid in the room without Lux noticing.

“She wears…. teddy bear… underwear….?” So Tanner revealed that too… That’s Tanner for you…

“Lux….who’s teddy bear underwear are you talking about and who are you talking too?” I wanted to make sure who he was talking to, just in case it wasn’t one of my other crazy friends from back home… accounting that most of them were perverts… I was giving him my death glare, which made him jump out of his skin.

“ACK!” Lux jumped out of his seat, looking at me. “Mmmmmhmmmm…” Lux replied to Tanner as I walked over to the phone machine and pressed speaker phone.

“So Tanner, you told him about that?” I started off with a grin and I knew they knew, they were dead. Excuse me if they talk about my clothing…

“Oh hey, Shupple dear!!!” I smiled sweetly. “You know what we just totally got off topic and were talking about girlfriend gifts and I had mentioned teddy bears and hahaha…somehow we got to undergarments….you know?” My aurora picked up as I thought about how many ways I could hurt Tanner about this… Or at least yell at him about it…

“Is that so? Is that why you asked him about my butt too and how it felt?” I asked and Tanner freaked out.

“Shit, you heard that too? Damn it, Lux, was she there the entire time?” Tanner cried. He knew he was in a world of pain when I got back to the mansion…

“I didn’t know, I didn’t feel her, she’s a ghost after all!” Lux said and I bonked him on the head, wondering how much Tanner had told him. What did he tell Lux anyways before I came in? “OUCH! WHY?” Lux grew some fake tears… Wow.

“Because, just because Lux….” I smiled and patted him on the head. “You’re both perverts and I think you will get along well once you meet, I will introduce you both properly at the festival. And Tanner, when I come back, you will get your punishment,” I told Tanner and he groaned.

“Y…yes mam!”

“Alright, well, I will let you get back to what you both were doing, but Tanner, just wait a moment, I am going to put you on hold…” And I pressed the button that put him on hold and looked at Lux. I needed to know and Tanner, I know, would completely understand. “Lux, why did you call him?”

“Actually, I was calling Hon but he answered, he’s a cool guy so far.” I was still a little suspicious. I didn’t want Lux to know about Shift… I didn’t want him involved between my own revenge…

“Did he say anything strange to you?” I asked him, being a little bit wary.

“Well other than being a pervert and making me uncomfortable, he said he approved of me for some odd reason, not crystal clear why?” Lux asked with a shrug and I hugged him automatically. I was glad, at least, that Tanner hadn’t revealed anything. “Wait is that good Shupple? I am confused?”

“It’s okay. He’s a sort of brother to me so if he approves then it is best,” I told him, it being completely true as I rubbed my head a little into his chest and then stepped back. “So don’t worry about it!” I told him with a smile, relaxing. I was glad Tanner didn’t tell him anything.

“So why did you come back as I held her arms in front of her?” I went over to the bedside table and picked up my wallet and showed it to him.

“I forgot my wallet! Now time to have a good dinner, have fun with your male bonding on the phone, toddles!” I teased him with sticking my tongue out and he whined as I left and closed the door behind me, I hearing,

“YOU’RE TEASING IS NOT FUNNY SHUPPLE YOU GOT THAT GHOSTY!!!!”

I was already heading down the staircase and over to Hoom and Raine, who were chattering a bit and I showed them my wallet and they all laughed along with me and we headed out of the hospital and across the street to the restaurant that was buzzing like heck but once we sat down and got our table, us talking about guys and the usual talk of the Gijinka news that we heard and laughing along until I heard a familiar voice. One I hadn’t heard in three years.

I stood up and turned around to find the short, cream hair, it short in the front and a bit long in the back and his brown, warm eyes. His warm, fuzzy jacket that I had to cuddle up in when we traveled to cold cities, looking for my parents. Even though he was two years older than me, I couldn’t help but remember him.

“One mochi, please,” Arc said, his warm voice filling me. He always could, and right now, how I felt like crap, it helped so much.

“Hey, Arc,” I said quietly and he looked up and it slowly registered to him who I was and his eyes grew wide and he stood up and automatically hugged me and I hugged him back with a squeal.

“I can’t believe I found you,” I exclaimed as he set me down, since I was really shorter than he was, and he smiled.

“I cannot believe it either… How are you, Shupple?” Arc asked and I smiled.

“I could be better,” I sighed a little but hid the lie. “Still haven’t had luck. I gave up after a while,” I told him with a small nod and he just nodded a little, he being a little distracted as always.

“Shupple?” I looked back and saw Hoom smiling with Raine included. “Who’s this?” Hoom asked and I smiled and looked back at Arc.

“This is Arc, obviously an Arcanine and he’s an old friend of mine. I haven’t see him for about three years now,” I told her and Arc grabbed a seat and pulled up a seat at our table.

“Is it alright if I sit with you ladies?” Arc asked in his usual polite tone and Raine smiled nervously, she still being nervous about guys, and Hoom just smiled. I couldn’t help but feel happier now. My heart beated faster as I remembered how Arc and I met… God that was a weird night…

~Flashback: Age 15~

My hair slowly got soaked as I got in the hot spring I was staying at. It’s been a year since my parents went missing… and I’ve been searching every in Sinnoh, not finding them at all… I had found a hot spring on my way to the Kanto ferry that was going to sail tomorrow, and I decided to relax for a night… I hadn’t gotten to relax in a while and I was glad I was alone on the girl’s side at least… It was at least midnight, but either way, I had a towel on and was listening to my PokePod with some heavy metal on it as I sank lower into the water until I heard a twig snap and I automatically looked up and saw a figure in the darkness near the gate. Okay…

“W-Who’s there?” I stuttered out and a guy came out of the darkness, he looking like an Arcanine Gijinka, but who knew what he was doing over here? Awkward…

“Um… I… I just jumped the fence to get warm over here but I apparently entered the wrong place, so sorry to disturb you…” He waved and I just nodded and sunk lower into the water as he tried to leave but paused and jumped back down on this side. He looked at me nervously. “Guard,” He chuckled nervously and I sighed and moved a bit up in the water.

“Just get in,” I told him and he looked at me weirdly.

“Are you sure?” He asked and I just nodded and he got out of his jeans, jacket, and shirt, and got in with his boxers on, thankfully. “What’s your name?” He asked and I cleared my throat a little.

“S-Shupple… Shupple the Shuppet,” I told him and he nodded. “And you? You seem like an Arcanine Gijinka?” I asked him and he smiled.

“Tail gave it away, huh? It’s Arc,” Arc said and I just nodded and that whole night, we just stayed on opposite sides of the hot spring and talked about the minimum things and him staying the night in the spring but he needing money. I didn’t mind and he seemed lost anyways.

I was right about it later, the next day with him seeing me play the piano and him saying he didn’t have any abilities, and when we got on the ferry after we ate breakfast, he helping for a long time on searching for my parents. It was nice, seeing somebody help me but at some point, we had to go separate ways… He helped become a stronger Gijinka… Helped me learn a few moves…

~End Flashback~

We all talked, I being extremely happy that I found Arc but he was looking at me differently which each look he gave me and I thought it was curious but nonetheless, we all talked and Hoom noticed that I just wanted to talk to Arc, just like she wanted to talk to Lux but it was more of a friendship that I wanted to talk to Arc. I left Hoom to talk with Gil as I got up and Arc paid and we left the restaurant and just took a stroll down the streets.

“How are you, Arc? I didn’t get to ask you that tonight,” I said with a small smile and he smiled just a little. He seemed a little bit more distracted from what I remembered but then again, there were days that he completely zoned out and I had never gotten him out. Those were forgotten days…

“I’m doing fine,” Arc said, I telling that he was keeping a bit more to himself but he was open like I knew him. Never talked about his secrets because I didn’t know them and didn’t need to unless he wanted to tell me. I was used to this, but tonight, he just seemed a bit more confined, even after us making the joke about the mochi and how he got me to love it.

“It seems,” I said as I looked at my feet and looked up at the constellations. If Mom and Dad were out there… what would they say? What would Mear say? Wait… Lux said I should forget about him… and I needed to. I shook the thought of my head. Depressing nights…

“Are you staying at the mansion in the woods?” I asked Arc and he smiled and nodded.

“Of course, but I don’t know for how long, as usual. Are you staying there?” Arc asked and I nodded.

“I’ve been staying there for about a year now… Do you think you’ll stay longer than a week there, Arc?” I asked quietly and he smiled.

“Wherever takes me… What’s wrong, Shupple? I can tell you’re different and all, but something’s wrong. What is it?” Arc asked, I hearing his worry in his voice but I couldn’t tell him either, even if he knew what was going on in plain sight.

“Just one of my guy friends is in the hospital and all and we’ve all been worried about him, so we were taking a break. I think you would like him. He’s actually pretty stable in the hospital right now,” I smiled and that threw him off a little but Arc smiled back. Three years ago, I hardly smiled. Now, I always did or sometimes at least because of Lux… The idiot… He would get my revenge someday but I actually wanted to give him the cupcakes that I got from the restaurant for him… Those eyes did get to me…

“Why don’t we go and see him then? If he’s your friend, then he should be a pretty good guy, right?” Arc asked and I nodded and smiled and I took his hand and walked him over and back to the hospital and up to Lux’s room and knocked on the door but didn’t hear an answer… Huh. I think it was a little too late for him to be playing with Cedric…

“Wait here, okay?” I told Arc and he just smiled and sat down on the couch as I walked into the room to find Hoom and Raine sleeping on the couch beside Lux’s bed but not Lux in his… Huh. But I heard the shower turn off and steps inside and the sounds of a towel. I walked over to the door and knocked on it lightly and saw Lux with a small gasp suppressing through my mouth as I saw the scars on his back because I wasn’t entirely prepared, but at least did have a towel on himself and I just leaned against the door frame as Lux turned around. Actually seeing the scars made me relax. I don’t know why, but it did.

“Hey, Lux. Brought you back something,” I told him with a smile as I held up the doggy bag and he smiled nervously but then relaxed and smiled his big, goofy grin.

“Woot! Thanks, Shupple!” Lux said as he took the doggy bag and looked inside it. “CUPCAKES! Yay!! Thank you, Shupple!!” Lux said as he induced me into a hug but I was getting wet and I didn’t like it when it was coming from somebody else.

“Lux… you’re getting me wet,” I exclaimed and he just laughed and let go of me. “Those eyes did work on me, silly, blue kitty,” I said as I stuck my tongue out at him again and he went scarlet as a tomato.

“Stop teasing!!!” Lux exclaimed and I just laughed and smiled.

“Hey, I want you to meet someone. He’s an old friend of mine, alright? He’s joining in with the mansion with all of us,” I told Lux with a smile and he smiled.

“Of course!” Lux said and I just nodded and closed the door to the bathroom and walked out of the room quietly and scratched a little bit of Arc’s ears and he looked up immediately and smiled with his tail wagging.

“Keep scratching~” Arc said playfully and I giggled and sat beside him and continued to scratch his ears and his leg started thumping a little and acting completely like a dog until Lux came out quietly from the room and I was just laughing and stopped scratching Arc’s ears and pointed up to Lux.

“This is Lux, the guy I told you about,” I said with a smile and both of them just blinked at each other and I was a little afraid that they were going to start calling each other cat and dog but Lux just smiled.

“Nice to meet ya, man. I’m Lux,” Lux smiled as he held out his hand and Arc smiled and shook it. I had a feeling this was going to work out… I couldn’t help but smile.

~Shift (Only temporarily): Sunrise, Next Day, After everybody’s asleep ~

Moving with the wind is easy. Finding the girl you love isn’t, and it took me forever. Yeah, sure, Team Rocket had its advantages and disadvantages, but I had to find her. I guess you could say I loved her, but differently. I had to bring her in. Oh well for her in my opinion.

It was too easy to follow her scent. She’d been looking for me for ages and well, let her find me. See what weak damage she could do on me and then just possibly kill her when I got my chance. But who knows? She’s been traveling just as I have but with Team Rocket making me stronger. I had to admit, I loved the coursing power going through my veins but on the occasion, I was just like Tanner, but he was more emotional. Just an emotional wreck and a weakling without that other side of his. Sure, he was able to break my arm a month or two ago, but it had healed. So what? Why waste precious time when you can just go and find the girl, and make her pay for not loving you back years ago?

I walked into the hospital at the stupid town that she was probably staying in or something like that and completely ignored the sleeping humans. How useless. Disgusting trash just laying around, not being used. Such trash…

I took the elevator to where I smelled her, her scent strong and humble and peaceful. She was sleeping too. I walked slowly into the room, not bothering or waking anyone. There was a fair amount of Gijinkas here that I could gladly take in, including the Luxray and the Houndoom, but why bother? Not my objective.

That’s when I saw her. That black haired, red eyed, Banette girl. So she evolved after all this time? Must have missed the memo. Now I had a reason to capture her, but she didn’t deserve to know the truth about anything. Why bother? If I woke her up now, I wouldn’t have any fun. Maybe at that festival I saw was coming up… Perfect.

I walked over to her and lifted up her chin, looking at her as she slept under a jacket of an Arcanine. Pathetic… I saw the pulse of her hearting beating, the feel of her blood pounding through her veins, the softness of her skin… How breakable was she. How pathetic, yet lovable. I didn’t understand love, even though I was in it with her, it seemed so breakable. How annoying.

I touched her face, shoulders, and neckline as she slept soundly throughout the night, not knowing that I was even here and then rested my hand on her heart. How easy it would be right now to kill her. It would be so easy… Like breaking a toothpick… but it wasn’t time yet.

I straightened up and stretched, my white hair being everywhere like a full grown mullet but straightened out to where it was all around me. My yellow eyes shone in the growing sunrise, the black in them pure and meaning. And then the simple clothes like a regular, white shirt, brown pants, brown boots, green fingerless gloves, and my Team Rocket jacket.

That’s when I didn’t bother to move as the Luxray stirred and rubbed his eyes as he sat up, his hair standing on end when he saw me with his eyes opened.

“Who are you?” He demanded and I just smirked and looked at Shupple and moved her hair a bit with the Luxray growling.

“Just an old friend,” I yanked out a piece of my hair and placed it on her lap. She would know once she woke up that I was here. I smiled at the Luxray creepily that would normally creep anyone out. Shupple learned it from me, after all.

“Tell my dear, loving Shupple that an old friend visited by… and that I’ll see her at the festival, alright, cat?” I spat with a smile as I walked to the window and slipped on some sunglasses and perched my foot on the window sill. The Luxray was still eyeing me suspiciously.

“Goodbye,” I sang as I jumped out of the building and blended myself in with the wind.

And all it did was carry me away, I just a feather in the wind.
