Tangled with Anxiety (Fresia)

Fresia stood at the door with anticipation running to her core. She tried to breathe normally to calm herself but she was never that great at new social situations. The door finally opened and she almost held her breath. She saw the man open the door and she smiled. He was just an inch taller than she was and he was not what she had expected. She blurted out what she wanted to say with as much poise as possible so that she wouldn’t freeze up.

“Hi, I’m Fresia... Is this the mansion for Gijinkas I’ve heard about?” She smiled afterwards to cover up any anxiety. Most of the time others thought she was cold for the way that she acted and she had hoped that this place would be different. She was going to try her best to put her guard down so that the same events didn’t occur as they did back home.

He smiled back at her. She wanted to sigh in relief but decided it was against her manners. “Well if the rumors are out, then that would be dangerous.” He spoke with a smile upon his lips. She refused to show her nervousness and wondered if he was joking or not. She just smiled back and decided to not even touch that subject. She might ask about it later but for now she wanted to play it cool.

“I’m Tanner, by the way.” He was nice... she liked that. She had been worried that she’d end up hating it and then she would feel bad. So far, everything seemed good. She tried to stay out of her head as much as possible and just be observant for now. She could fuss at herself later for every little stupid thing. Fresia noticed he shut the door with his hair. She thought to herself that she would want to touch it, to see what it’s like and how it moves. She blinked the thought away and fought off a blush at the absurdity.

“I’ll show you around the mansion, if you’d like.” He said to her with that same smile. “I’d like that.” She replied without even thinking about it. She was used to being so proper within her family. She’d felt herself slip and thought that it was kind of nice not to be so formal. She wondered if she should make it a habit so that she could better get along with the others. Tanner seemed so relaxed… well, of course he lived here so there was no reason not to be relaxed… but.. she wanted that too. She wanted to be comfortable and to get to know everyone. She forced herself out of her own head again and started looking around as they walked down the hallway.

Fresia heard another behind her and Tanner. They both turned as the girl spoke to him. “I need to talk to you.” She said. I looked her over and realized it must have been a Lopunny Gijinka. She turned to Tanner about to say that she’d excuse herself so they could talk. She watched him roll his eyes and he blurted “Later bunny!” Apparently not wanting to speak to her. Fresia felt that it was no place of hers to say anything. She turned back around with Tanner and he showed her around the mansion.

Fresia was excited and couldn’t wait to see her own room. She was already getting pictures of how she wanted to decorate! She’d have her mother ship her some trinkets from the market place back home and ask if her grandmother could make some of her Taiyaki to leave as a welcoming gift for the rest of the house! She was so excited and tried to contain herself.

She gazed around the mansion in wonder and loved all of the decorations. Someone definitely had taste! She decided that besides gawking at her, hopefully, soon to be home that she should get to know Tanner while she could. “So, uhm.. Tanner?” She asked without being nervous, her excitement most prevalent than anything. She kept her voice normal as not to betray herself.

“Yea?” He said, smiling back at her. She blushed and forced herself to speak again. “Can you tell me more about the residents please? Perhaps, what they are like?” She smiled at him again. She didn’t want to babble too much and wanted to at least recognize some of them when she met them. Her parents being the way they were she knew that preparation in any situation was key. Just as her father had taught her while training for battle. She figured that would relieve her stress at least temporarily.
