Raine

”Raine… Raine…” I heard a voice calling out to me.

“Wh-what…? Who’s there?” I replied.

“Turn around, Raine…” the voice said. I did so and standing there was Aberius. Oh, it’s Aberius-san… What is he doing here?

“A… Aberius-san? Are you alright?” I asked. He was standing there while holding his side, but still had a gentle smile on his face.

“I’m not entirely sure… I think I have something that needs healing… Come over here for a moment…”

I did as I was asked. He pulled his hand away from his side, but there was no visible wound. No sooner than I had looked, Aberius’ arms were clasped tightly around me. He held me to his chest and slowly inhaled the scent of my hair. My face turned red and I squirmed a bit.

“U-Um, Aberius-san…? You don’t look like you’re hurt…” I said, trying to keep my heart out of my throat.

“Oh I’m very much injured… but it’s nothing your love can’t fix…” he said, brushing some hair out of my face. My eyes widened. Wh-what’s going on here…?! He smiled, his eyes burning slightly. “Why don’t you stay here with me tonight…? Will you do that for me, pretty Raine?” He lowered his head and pressed his lips to my forehead.

“I-I… A-ano…” I felt very awkward, but not really scared… just really nervous. But Aberius just smiled gently and stroked my cheek.

“It’s alright, I’m not going to let any harm come to you, so believe in me. Please, pretty Raine?”

I didn’t say anything but just stared up into his ruby red eyes. They half closed and his face inched closer. Slowly…. Slowly…

Suddenly I felt my body jerk and I gasped, sitting up. I had inhaled too sharply and coughed from choking a bit. I took a quick glance around and realized I was in the hospital room. I exhaled quietly. S-So, that was just a dream…? B-But why did I have a dream like that? I b-barely know Aberius-san. I mean Kitty-sama described him to me and told me stories and even showed me some videos of their travels together, but… I felt my face burning from remembering the contents of the dream.

“Hi,” said a voice next to me. My heart leaped out of my chest as I was jerked out of my thoughts, suddenly. I looked up quickly and saw the Arcanine from earlier sitting on the opposite end of the couch. I quickly lowered my head, avoiding eye contact.

"I- Uh… h-hello!" I squeaked. As if I wasn’t embarrassed enough, I was caught right after having an embarrassing dream. Thank goodness he was not a psychic type.

"You're one of Shupple's friends from the restaurant, right?" Arc asked. I simply nodded in response, not trusting myself to speak, yet. "Sorry, if I seem scary to you…” he continued, “Trust me, my bark and bite are pathetic. So you have no need to worry at all." I smiled slightly about that, starting to loosen up enough, when…

"RAINE, BABY!~" I was attacked from behind by Lux. I yelped in surprise. I wondered why he’d done that and I felt so startled that my soul might fly out, but he let go after a short amount of time.

"Ease up on her, Blue-kitty," Shupple teased him. Lux laughed in response.

Eventually Hoom came back to the room and was introduced to Arc. Everyone talked and laughed for a while, although I more so kept to myself and spoke a little when addressed. Eventually everyone was falling off to sleep. I tried to sleep, but there was something bothering me. I felt like maybe I lost track of something important. I looked outside the window at the nighttime. Deciding that I couldn’t sleep, I decided to quietly slip out of the room and go somewhere I could meditate and calm this niggling feeling in the back of my mind. I went to the elevator and pressed the button to go to the roof.

I arrived and I saw a couple kissing each other intensely. I blushed and they caught sight of me and were startled. They quickly straightened themselves out and jogged back to the elevator, the girl giggling a little. I jumped up to a secluded area above the regular roof and sat against a large metal fixture. Do couples usually come up here…? Images from my dream earlier flashed in my mind and my face began to heat up again. I shook my head and placed my hands on my cheeks. I wonder how Aberius-san is doing right now…? I wonder if this hospital is too far away…

I decided to try meditating and tuning my wavelength with his. I slowed my breathing and matched it to the flowing breeze. I willed my thoughts to travel on it back toward the mansion. Relax… pick out his wavelength… I exhaled and all of a sudden was hit with a sharp pain which caused me to break my meditation. I fell over and breathed heavily. I had felt an intense amount of pain, and it belonged to Aberius. He was suffering and felt afraid. I stood up suddenly and jumped down off the secret area back to the regular roof. I ran to the elevator. It can’t be already? Oh no… I had realized that in my journey here, I had neglected to keep track of the date. Master had told me about Aberius’ condition and what happened every year. This was half the reason she wanted me to find him, but I had thought I had more time. I ran down the hallway and bumped into Hoom along the way.

“Whoa! Raine…? Why are you in such a hurry?” she said, looking down at me worriedly.

“He… he’s in trouble…” I said, out of breath.

“Who?”

“A-Aberius-san… I have to… hurry back… What is today’s date?”

“Wh-what? Slow down Raine you’re not making any sense. What does the date have to-”

“Please, Hoom! I need to know…!”

“It’s March the 14th… Although it’s pretty late, so it’ll be March 15 in a couple hours.”

I inhaled sharply. “Hoom… something big is about to happen. I need to go find Aberius. I… I need you to call the mansion and tell Lupe to get everyone as far away from the mansion as possible…”

“Wa-wait… I’m really confused right now, what’s going to happen? Is Abbie in danger or something?”

“I would have to say if everyone stays around him, then they will be more in danger…”

Hoom stared at me for a minute, still highly confused and now worried, “But what about you? What are you going to do? If everyone else is in danger, then you…”

“I…” I grasped my arm, “I don’t really have a choice. I’m the only one who knows what’s going to happen, even though I’ve never seen it firsthand. I need to do something and I have to be there when it’s finished. If… if I can manage that is…”

Hoom shook her head, “No, if he’s going to become dangerous, then you should have some help! I’ll go-”

“No, you can’t! Please… just stay here at the hospital… And do not tell Lux or the others there. If he doesn’t get as far as this town, it would be better if they do not know…”

“But,” Hoom objected.

“Please, Hoom, promise me you won’t come,” I pleaded.

Hoom was silent for a while. She nodded, but she still did not seem to fully agree. I tried to assure her that I would be fine, but I probably didn’t sound convincing because I wasn’t sure myself how this would turn out… I said goodbye and ran again to leave the hospital. Once I was far enough into the woods, I focused my energy on where Aberius was yet again. Bearing the pain, I used teleport to find my way to wherever he was.

I dropped out of the dimensional rift and landed roughly on something. Looking to my right, I saw Aberius. I had landed in his lap. Oh… not again… He looked at me as if he were imagining things.

“R-Raine…?” he blinked and rubbed his eyes. His voice sounded dry and labored. He was sweating profusely and his eyes looked bloodshot. Oh no, he looks terrible… “Wh… what are you doing here…?”

“I-I teleported… Aberius-san…? Do you feel alright?” I asked. I obviously knew he wasn’t well, but I didn’t want to let him know at the moment I knew what his condition was. As far as he was concerned, we had never met. This was true, but he also didn’t know that I knew his Master, Kitty-sama. He was looking for her… so why didn’t she just come herself? I didn’t understand Kitty-sama’s methods, but I owed her a great deal and respected her even more so. I took this on despite my doubt in myself because Kitty-sama believed in me. I did not want to disappoint her.

“I’m fine…” he said. As I thought, he’s stubborn.

“You don’t look fine… Here, I’ll get you some water…” I walked to the bathroom and poured some water from a jug into a cup.

“You shouldn’t be here right now. It’s too dangerous…”

I came back and handed him the cup. He took it and drank it down quickly, coughing as he pulled it away. I felt so badly that I had to sit there and pretend I didn’t know anything… “Danger? What do you mean?”

“It doesn’t matter what I mean, you just need to get out,” he snapped. He looked exhausted and there were dark circles under his eyes. His breathing was labored and what little good the water did for him seemed to be wearing off. His voice sounded dry again.

I would normally use Healing Wave in a situation like this, but I had been told moves to heal the body will not work and would sometimes recoil. However, I decided to try something else. I placed my hands on both sides of Aberius’ head.

“What… are you…?” he began. I used Calm Mind on him. He said nothing more, but simply stared into my eyes with his exhausted expression. It seemed to be helping somewhat to ease his suffering in the meantime.

After using that move for a while, he grabbed my wrist loosely, “You can stop now… Don’t force yourself.”

“What…?” I was continuing without paying attention, but I guess I was beginning to exhaust my energy on that move. I was so focused that I had not noticed. “I’m sorry…”

“Why should you be sorry?” he snipped, but not really angry.

I didn’t answer his question. There were many reasons why I was sorry, but most of them I couldn’t say. “I’ll just get you some more water, then” I began to get up, but he grabbed my wrist.

“Don’t, it won’t help much, anyway…” he said, looking miserable.

I nodded, “At least get some rest for now…”

“Yeah…” he agreed. He climbed onto his bed as I helped him and covered him up. He held onto my wrist again. “Stay right here tonight… please…”

My face reddened a bit because that was the line from the dream. I shook the thought from my mind and looked at him. “I won’t go anywhere…” I responded. He seemed satisfied with that and soon fell asleep. And I sat there next to him, waiting for the morning to come.

~*~ Alright, this one is done. Tomorrow (technically later today…) will be the main thing happening. And then everyone can join in XD;; *everyone glares at her for monopolizing the posts* … =^_^;= Raine suddenly became stronger? At least she seems that way. But why is she not afraid of Aberius? Who can say for certain… Maybe she feels like she already knows him or maybe it’s because his Master trusts him… We shall find out soon what is about to happen, so until tomorrow. But hey, don’t wait until tomorrow to comment =;A;= I appreciate some feedback on whether or not things are going okay… =>u>= Okay, I’m going now XD ~*~
