On the way back to the mansion, I wondered about what Tanner said.
"Shupple probably got a new outfit.."
'What kind of outfit?' I wondered, very curious suddenly. Had I wondered anymore I would've walked right into a tree from lack of paying attention. Luckily I didn't, but I DID happen to see something up in that tree that caught my attention.
It was..
SQUIRREL!
My ears perked up at the site of the small creature. As it sat perched on the tree branch, I got this urge to climb up that tree and catch it. No one was around right? It'd be quick! I jumped up and grabbed the tree branch, pulling myself up onto it, but the squirrel jumped right off and onto another branch.
"Hey, come back!" I said, pouting, as I sat on the branch alone, but the squirrel wasn't too keen on the idea.
"Fine, who needs you" I said, sticking my tongue out in its direction. I could've sworn the squirrel was mocking me. Every few seconds it threw this odd glance at me while grooming itself.
This reminded me of a certain adventure I had with an old friend.
It was back when I lived in Lily's mansion. I was working out in the garden, when a flash of blue and black passed through the tulips. Lily would freak if those tulips were crushed! I decided to investigate, and little did I know I would end up meeting some kid.
"Who's there!" I had demanded. No response. So I hesitantly made my way over to the tulips.
"W-who's there!" I demanded again. This time, as I ventured further into the tulip patch, I noticed a speck of blue sticking out, and then I was pulled under. "AH! Let go of me!" I shouted.
"Shut the f*ck up, you idiot! You'll alert them guards in there!" The kid shout/whispered at me, with his slightly spiked fist ready to make contact with my face.
"What are you doing in here!? This is private property! If they catch you, I'll get in big trouble too!"
"Nah, you'll be a'ight. Nobody's gunna catch me."
"Right.. what are you doing here anyway? These are master's flowers."
"I'm pickin' some of these flowers for my girlfriend outside the fence. Told her I'd get her somethin' pretty or whatever. Girl's like these right?"
"You're like...six, aren't you?"
"You're askin' for it, fluffy!"
"Ok, ok! Just hurry and pick those flowers, and get out of here! Please, I don't want us getting caught.."
"Chillax, damn. Do you ever just have fun or something? C'mon, I'll show ya something."
"Wha- No! I have to get back to work!"
The little Riolu gijinka just grabbed one of my ears forcefully and dragged me towards the hole in the fence he managed to crawl through.
"Oh no, I'll have to fix this befo-"
"Relax! Damn, you worry too much."
Before I could say a word, I was dragged over to the other side of the fence where I met with wide, open fields.
"Wow.."
"MILO! Where the f*ck are you, babe!?"
Such foul language from a kid...
"Who's Milo?" I asked. "She's my girl, but I don't see her. Probably ran off fo' a swim or something."
"Right. Well, you've got your flowers, so I'll..just head on back. Goodbye."
"Hold up!" He said, pulling on my arm. "Enjoy your freedom while you got it! Imma show you something."
He dragged me over to a large tree with a bunch of empty acorn shells scattered around it.
"Look up there" he said, pointing to a squirrel perched up on a branch, trying to crack open another acorn. Just the sight of it made me twitch, but the Riolu was already climbing that tree to get to it.
"Wait for me!" I shouted with a wide grin, right behind him. The squirrel turned its head and gave us both a dead glare (if that's even possible).. And suddenly I felt very nervous..
"Uh.."
"OH SH*T! RUN!" The Riolu shouted, jumping off the branch. He took off with me right beside him. The squirrel wasn't chasing us alone, it had some friends tag along.
"AHH!" We both shouted, running for out dear lives. Who knew squirrels could be so scary!
We didn't even realize how long we'd been running, thinking those squirrels were still chasing us.
It was already getting dark and I knew if I didn't get back soon, I'd be in a load of trouble, if I wasn't already.
"I've got to go!" I shouted, trying to catch my breath. "But.. if you're still around, we can play again some time?" I asked.
"Heh, maybe! See ya round!" The Riolu said, turning to leave.
"Oh, hey, wait! What's your name?"
"It's Luca. Yours?"
"Arc" I smiled, and we both parted ways.
I hadn't realized that I'd fallen asleep up in this tree. When I woke up it was the day of the festival.
I yawned and stretched before jumping down from the tree.
'Time to get ready', I told myself, heading into the mansion to prepare.
After changing into a simple, pale blue Kimono, I left to the Festival. There I wondered around for a bit, mostly looking for Shupple, and soon enough I felt a tap on my shoulder. When I turned around, I noticed a beaming Shupple. She looked..amazing! I wanted to say a proper greeting, but instead the first word that came out of my mouth was...zippers.
Why'd she have to be wearing so many zippers! It was so tempting! I didn't even realize that I had begun pulling on one of them. It wasn't that I meant to pull them all off or anything.. I just liked the sound of zippers when they're pulled up and down. She poked my nose in response.
"Apparently you like zippers" she said blankly, chuckling nervously.
I blushed lightly and scratched the back of my head, smiling sheepishly. "Uh..yeah..sort of.."
Tanner and Lux came over to us after that.
"So, Tanner, who's your date?" Shupple asked Tanner.
"Estelle, you know her?" He said, and Shupple looked over to Lux who was quiet.
"Yeah, I know her. Where is she?" Shupple asked. Tanner pointed over to Gil and said he let her talk with him for a while. Lux headed over to Hoom, and I slipped my hand into Shupple's.
"Sorry about the zippers.." I said, chuckling nervously.
Shupple blushed lightly, but smiled. "It's ok" she said and kissed my cheek.
"So...How was your date with Lux?" I asked.
