"Okay," I said when we reached a good length down the road from the town. "Here should be good." Going through my pack, I pulled out the warp coin. Adilvice did the same. Putting Eve on my soldiers, I told her to hold on tight. At the same time, both of us activated the coins, and after falling through blackness, we were in the dimly lit caverns. I set Eve down, then moved to my belt. I let out all my Eevees.
"How do you tell them apart?" asked Adilvice. They started romping around and playing, some rubbing up against me as a welcome.
"Easy," I told her, "Eve is the only one whose tail is only tipped with the cream color," I pointed to Eve, "Flare has longer fur, and it's a little messy,Thunder has that little cream patch shaped like a bolt of lightning just above his nose, Leaf has a small mohawk thing on her head, Glacier ears fold at the tips, Leah has a small spot of cream on her forehead, and Night's fur is darker than the rest." I pointed to each Eevee in turn.
"But that's 7!" she exclaimed.
"Of course," I said calmly, "I never even carry Eve's ball, since she won't even look at it." The whole time, I was digging into the pack. I pulled out a flashlight and a note on how to dig into walls and locate items. Studying it, I went up to a wall and knocked on it. With the echo that came back, I decided there was something there.
Pulling out the pick and hammer, I started on the wall. Eventually, a small blue jem fell into my hand.
"An Orb!" noted Adilvice. "It's said they grow bigger if your bury them."
Sticking it in my pocket, I got a great idea. "The Explorer kit came with a drill!" I exclaimed, "Let's go make our secret bases!" Without waiting, I ran off with all seven Eevees trailing behind me. "Meet you back here in 5 minutes!" I called back.
