within, without

Absolutely terrifying. Absolutely... beautiful. Gabriel knew the demon's name without it ever being said aloud: Lier.

Every dark impurity, every wicked desire the priest had stifled now towered before him. Power thrummed through every lean muscle of the demon's body. Eyes ablaze like the sunlight through the stained glass windows of Gabriel's beloved church. Gabriel knew the venom flowing through the dark being's veins was the very same as his own blood.

Soft whispers from disembodied voices turned to deafening chants. Repeating words and curses from the Devil himself. Unseen chaotic forces whipped wind around the priest, dizzying him until he screamed, covering his ears with pale, ice cold hands. He tried to steady himself when his voice gave out. He took deep, deep breaths as he stared at the certain floor beneath him.

This is only a nightmare. Just a nightmare, that's all.

"You don't scare me." But Gabriel's voice trembled when he reopened his eyes. Lier was standing before him. A clawed finger tilted Gabriel's chin up to look the demon right in his wicked eyes.

"Of course I do. I'm everything you've ever wanted." The demon's voice was silk. With just the one finger, he brought Gabriel's lips to his own. Hopelessness overtook him. His body went limp, control fading. All he could do was watch himself die in the eyes of Satan. His mouth would not form protests, nor words of prayer.

I deserve this. I deserve to drown in my sin.

Their mouths dissolved into hungry bites and bleeding tongues. Bruised lips.

The kiss was everything Gabriel feared... It was everything he ever wanted.
