So I just got an invite from Adam to join the alpha test for something called Chatwich. It seems like this might be a site to replace TheOtaku (sort of like how TheO replaced MyOtaku), but I ghope that's not the case. I signed up impulsively, but I sort of wish I hadn't. Something about this feels off to me. The site wanted by name, but there was very little to the site itself, and the address did not seem to be private like, say, Gmail (though now that I went back and checked, TheO isn't private either, so maybe I'm just paranoid). I'm certainly not saying Adam would try to steal people's credentials online, but a Igain, I get paranoid about this stuff. Anyway, I'm sure it's all fine, and I'm intrigued to see where this project goes, but I'm sort of frustrated. I sort of wish instead of building whole new websites, we could get some of the issues with this website fixed. It's incredibly buggy and the interface is extremely outdated. Frankly, before anyone goes setting up amazing new websites, this one here needs a complete overhaul. I'm sure that it's more complicated than that, but the guy could at least keep in touch with us users! The breakdown in communication is one of the most aggravating things about TheO's decline lately, and before I'm going to switch over to Adam's new project I want some answers about what the hell's been going on back here on TheO.

So if you go to MyOtaku.com, it says that you can register for an account there and that TheOtaku is going to be updated in the near future. Ho-lee shit. Is this the big comeback I just said would never happen? Is TheO gonna make a comeback??

So as we all know, TheO was down for a few days. I'm told it was down for maintenance, but after two years or so of problems with the site and declining activity, this last issue makes it seem like TheO really is on it's way out.
If you'll pardon my French, it's fucking heartbreaking. I don't want to lose this community, I really don't. It was a place where I felt like I belonged when I didn't belong anywhere else. It's been such a huge part of my life as an artist, and I've made so many friends that I never would have met without this site.
If the mods aren't going to do anything about the community falling apart, then it's up to us. Let's face it, the website itself might not be around for much longer. I know most people have contact info in their headers and we all put up emergency contact posts a few months ago, but I'd like to take it a step further.
Maybe this is a dumb idea, but I'd like to set up a world that everyone could post to that would be sort of a directory for TheO, so we could have everybody's contact info in one place.
The other thing I was thinking about was maybe setting up a Tumblr that we could all post to to act as sort of a hub for TheO users. I know not everyone is on Tumblr, but a lot of us are, and if you don't have an account I'd urge you to start one. If you do have a tumblr, please follow me, I'm kabukigirl1977.
Anyway, I really can't tell if I'm making sense, these are just some things I've been thinking about. Thoughts?

Geesh, it's been a while since I posted anything, hasn't it? Sorry about that, i'm going to try to remember to upload my art here.
