Welcome to the Puzzle Room, a world for fans of all things Yu-Gi-Oh!

This is a world where I’ll be posting various things about the Yu-Gi-Oh! Franchise. But unlike my previous Yu-Gi-Oh themed worlds, this world is going to include more than just posts about the card game. Because as I realized not long ago, what makes a Yu-Gi-Oh series isn’t just the card game, it’s its cast of characters. So in addition to posts about the card game, I’ll also talk about some of the characters in each series, perhaps favorite episode from the anime, and probably much more.

About Me

I’ve been a fan of the Yu-Gi-Oh! Franchise since almost the beginning. I wasn’t really into it at first, but after I had seen more of the original anime and got my first Starter Deck it became a favorite series of mine. Though I don’t think I really got into Yu-Gi-Oh! until I read the very first volume of the original manga. Since that time I’ve stuck with the franchise all the way through 5D’s. And in that time I got my hands on all of the original manga series and amassed a large collection of cards. Plus I’ve built several decks over the years.

Guest Posters

Sort of like with Pokemon, my interest in Yu-Gi-Oh wanes every now and then. So to keep this world from dying like my last two Yu-Gi-Oh themed worlds, I’ve decided to open this world up to guest posters, thus allowing other Yu-Gi-Oh fans here on TheO to post things here. So like me you could post things about your favorite Yu-Gi-Oh characters or episodes, or talk about the card game. But there are many other options too.

  • If you are a player of the card game and are currently working on your deck, you can post a log to document the deck’s creation. This could be a good way to get tips on how to make the deck better or simply just show off your victories.
  • If you have any Yu-Gi-Oh fanfics you want to share here on TheO, this world could be a good place to post them. Or you could simply post the profiles of any Yu-Gi-Oh OCs you might have.
  • Maybe you have some big Yu-Gi-Oh related art project you want to share (like a drawing or a wallpaper). You could use this world to chronicle its creation.

You could do all that and much, much more. As long as it has to do with Yu-Gi-Oh, the sky’s the limit. So if you’re interested in becoming a guest poster, or maybe just have a few questions, please contact me via comment or PM and I’ll get back to you as soon as I can.

Dragons of Legend Revealed

Though the U.S. release of the Dragons of Legend booster set is still a week away, the full spoiler for each card in the set has been revealed.

There are a few surprises in this set. The biggest surprise is that it does not contain The Fang of Critias or The Claw of Hermos, or their Legendary Knight counterparts. But I have a pretty good feeling that those cards are going to be released in future sets. My theory at the moment is that the next set will contain only Critias and the set after that will contain Hermos. Hopefully there won't be too much of a wait between sets if that's the case.

The Dragon Lives!

I just found out about this earlier in the afternoon while browsing the Yu-Gi-Oh! Wiki. What has before been only speculation has now been confirmed. The Eye of Timaeus is going to be made into a real card in the upcoming Dragons of Legend set. A picture of the card had been revealed, though it's pretty grainy.

So from what we can tell, the actual card is going to be a normal Spell card. It also seems that it can only be used with Dark Magician monsters. In other word, only with Dark Magician and Dark Magician Girl. This kind of makes sense considering that Yugi only used The Eye of Timaeus on those two monster (well, he used it on that moth Weevil summoned to his field too, but that didn't work out). Anyway, from what little I can tell, The Eye of Timaeus seems to work in a way similar the Spell, Mask Change and summons a certain Fusion monster using a single monster as material. Too early to tell how the real card will work with summoning Legendary Knight Timaeus though. But I'm sure we'll find out in April.

End of the Fourth Era

Well, the final episode of the Yu-Gi-Oh! ZEXAL anime aired in Japan today. I have to admit, ZEXAL was not my favorite series in the franchise. I mean it seemed like they recycled to many things from the previous shows. Plus the hero of ZEXAL was kind of dense. But there were somethings that I liked about ZEXAL. For one thing, Xyz monsters known as the Numbers were an interesting plot device. And I liked the main villains of the second half of the series, the Seven Barain Emperors. All in all though, to me ZEXAL was just not as good as its predecessors.

Anyway, when one era ends another begins. Soon the Yu-Gi-Oh! Arc-V anime will be starting up in Japan. And with it is going to come some fairly interesting changes to the card game. Let's just hope that Arc-V ends up being a better series that ZEXAL was.

Surprising Rule Changes

I just found out from one of the Yu-Gi-Oh! news blogs that there are some interesting rule changes coming to the card game in Japan. Here's what the two changes are.

  • The player who goes first doesn't perform their Normal Draw on their first turn.
  • Both players can have an active Field Spell Card on the field at the same time.

These rule changes will go into effect in the OCG on March 21st. And I have a feeling that it's only a matter of time before they're put into effect in the TCG as well. My best guess is that it'll happen probably in May sometime. I have to say, I rather like that both players will be able to have a Field Spell on the field. But I'm not sure how I feel about the first turn player not being able to draw.

Dragons of Legend

I've actually known about this story for a couple days now, but have only had the time to post about it now. Ever since the time of the original series, there have been cards that have appeared in the anime that for whatever reason were never mad...
