This next post contains some spoilers from the most recent episode of Yu-Gi-Oh! ARC-V. So if you haven't seen that series yet, you might want to stop reading now.
Group shot of the Bracelet Girls
So I'm rather thrilled to report that as of this week's episode of Yu-Gi-Oh! ARC-V, the Bracelet Girls are no longer being controlled by parasitic insects that had latched onto their brains. What happened was that the evil doctor who had implanted the parasites in Yuzu and her three counterparts ended up getting "killed off" by the show's main villain, Leo Akaba; and as a result, the parasites died along with him. Of course now the Bracelet Girls are all trapped in these tanks linked to a machine designed to essentially kill them and use them to reconstitute the Alpha Bracelet Girl, Ray. Still, they've finally regained their free will, which is kind of a step up.
Of course while I'm thrilled about how all this turned out, I also find that I'm a little annoyed as well. I mean after the way they dragged this whole storyline with the parasites out for weeks - interrupting it a few times for things like that Survival Duel and that episode where Yuri "killed off" the ARC-V version of Alexis from GX - it seems kind of anticlimactic to have it end so simply and abruptly. In fact, it almost seems like the whole parasite thing had absolutely no point except to serve as a way to tick off the audience.
On the other hand, it's probably better that this whole parasite storyline was ended this way. By my calculations, there are approximately just twenty-one episodes of the ARC-V anime left, give or take a couple of episodes. So eliminating this aggravating little storyline does help to simplify things when it comes to getting all this crap resolved. My hope right now is that we get to see all of the Bracelet Girls in at least one more duel before the series finally ends.
Anyway, sorry if this seemed like something of a rant. I just wanted to get these observations out of my system.
