Here's our thirteenth card from the advent calendar. Today's card was extremely unexpected and also quite inspiring.
This is a card that I’m very familiar with, and it’s also one that I was not expecting at all to find in this calendar. Nephthys here first came out during the time of the original saga as the cover card for one of the main booster sets (for the life of me, I can’t remember the name of it). Much more recently though Nephthys has gained its own archetype in the Hidden Summoners booster set that focuses on Ritual Monsters. I have no idea why this card was included in the advent calendar other than perhaps the simple fact that the calendar came out right around the time that Hidden Summoners was released in the TCG, but pulling this card from the calendar has inspired me to build my own deck based on the Nephthys archetype. I’ve already ordered most of the cards I’ll need to put this deck together. As a side note, Nephthys is also the name of a goddess from Egyptian mythology. That would technically make the Sacred Phoenix of Nephthys a God Card, or at least a Demi-God Card.
