Finished! Writing in Spanish took a lot more out of me than expected. I will really benefit from this class. I find it kinda embarrassing that I have such difficulty writing in Spanish, so I'm glad I'm getting the chance to improve it.

Now to read the 70+ pages for Latin American history! (it's actually not that bad, very interesting material)

I hate Antro

Ups and downs

Way too many ups and downs in one day.

First, I got up at 6am to get ready for my 8am class. Once I get there, I'm all set to take notes, a bit sleepy, but ready nonetheless. Class ends 5 minutes later -___- I could have skipped lecture and gotten up later!

Well, because it ended so fast, I had 2 hours to spare. Too long to stay on campus for, but too little time to head back to my room (would have to head back once I got there). I read a chapter in the Italian textbook, played some Persona, stared off into space, etc until it was time for Italian.

Italian was nice and uneventful.

Then, Spanish. I was dreading this class because I had read the syllabus the night before...but, it seems I was in luck. There was a last minute professor change, so now I have a slightly less strict professor. I knew most of the material being covered, I was a bit unfamiliar with some grammatical terms though. I asked the professor for help, and ended up getting lectured about the term, even though I understood after the first two examples he gave.

This being Santa Barbara and all, the weather just had to get all weird. It was starting to get sunny, and then, with the sun shining brightly, it started raining...this ruled out biking, so I decided to have lunch on campus and wait until Global 2. (by the time I got to the commons, it stopped raining, only to pick up again when I left; afterwards, the temperature went from slightly cold to blazing in a few minutes and changed about three times before it was time for class)

There were so many people crashing Global OTL I really hope I get a spot. I loved the professor's lecture style. He was hilarious and best of all, made everyone close their computers because, as he put it, "I know you're not taking notes. I'm sorry if you are, but if that's the case, using good old pen and paper won't kill you." We don't need to take notes anyway, since he apparently has already outlined the information in the reader we're supposed to get. He uses lecture to give examples, make connections and test our global knowledge/awareness.

Disneyland!!!

Disneyland never ceases to amaze and entertain me. My 100th trip might as well be the first, just with more experience and a planned strategy to get the most out of the day.

I'll update about the trip later...when I'm back in my dorm >__> I really don't want to go back, I had too much fun.

My newest discovery was the Dole Whip Float. I seriously can't believe I hadn't tried it before!! Well, at least now I know to take a slight detour to Adventureland for refreshments when it's hot next time.

*update*

That's the delicious Dole Whip Float, filled with pineapple goodness. Smooth, creamy soft serve, sweet and tart juice in perfect balance. Plus, the little umbrella was cute!

We got there late, so the park was pretty full, but we still managed to see all we wanted and more.

My sister rode Splash Mountain with me! (she was terrified the first time she rode it and always avoided it afterwards)

Matterhorn Bobsleds. Yeah, fun ride, but not the one I expected to be splashed with water in. Especially considering since I didn't get the slightest bit wet on Splash Mountain.

We rode Autopia three times!! I can now drive the cars without losing control xD
Oh, we also went for a spin in the Mad Tea Party 3 times!

I think me and my family know the park a little too well, lol. No map needed...and we, well at least me and my sister, know the way to all the rides...and restaurants...and bathrooms...xD

Contradicting message...

My RA's just sent out a message saying they're proud of us if we earned high grades this past quarter, but if we didn't, then it's fine because the grades mean nothing anyway...

I don't particularly see the point in congratulating those of us that did well, only to belittle our achievements to console those that didn't. I know they're our RA's and they have to please everyone, but this is precisely what I find to be the problem in education, in my opinion. No, the grades aren't useless and yes, they reflect how much effort you have inputted. Too much consideration is given to those that don't do well, and those that do well are pretty much cast aside. Yes, those struggling should be helped, efforts must be made to improve their performance, but in no way should they be led to believe that it's fine and that what those over-achievers over there earned is worthless.

I feel stricter hand to enforce discipline is due here. I remember that a low mark earned me a reprimand from my teachers and my parents, and it usually wasn't a very low mark. As I went from one grade to the next, it seemed to matter less, and, yes, it was probably because they took into consideration the relative difficulty, but I found I could get away with an average score without worrying about the previous consequences I faced. I think that played a part in my low performance in math and sciences later in high school, I didn't have that pressure to do exceptionally well in *all* my subjects, so I didn't actively seek help to master the subject I didn't understand as much as I should have. That little reprimand and slight disappointment expressed because of that "low" grade pushed me to improve and seek to impress come the next test, assignment, etc.

I just had to rant when I read the message...I'll get back to my second play-through in Persona 4...

Winter Quarter Grades!

I worried too much about my finals for Global and Greek Myth, in the end, all my grades were great!

A+ in Italian
and A- in both Global and Greek Myth ^-^
