[fanfic: flashback 31]
[ok let's flashback in this flashback to the moment ren first came to Homeless Heaven]
homeless haven resident 1 [hhr]: huh. we have a new one?
hhr2: poor thing she's just a child...... but where are her parents?
hhr1: let me ask, young lady where are your parents?
ren: .................................. -continues on her way-
hhr1: hmph where are your manners?
[however word quickly spreads and the things they wanted to know but were denied answer for had been answered]
[her name is renjifangirl18 she's 10 years old and her parents abandoned her, she will not speak to anyone.]
[so ren slowly became accustomed to life there though she still refused to talk to anyone nevertheless she built many useful things]
hhr3: wow having this windmill helps a lot!
hhr4: yeah!
hhr1: we now have electricity
hhr2: and renjifangirl18 has done many things to greatly improve life here in the 3 years she's lived here. even so she still won't talk to
us......
[ren left when she was 13 to protect the residents from assassins hired by jealous entreprenuers]
[a life of silence was only further justified with threat of death]
[at some point two young women came when the residents refered them to renjifangirl18 while she was visiting things changed]
[ren was 18 when she came back to Homeless Haven and was recommended for help for years prior assassins were after her constantly
there were new faces some residents became very successful in solid well paying jobs and still visited funded projects and helped new
residents adjust]
[but change wouldn't come easy after months of trying one was close to giving up]
Bonez: Da daaaaaa! i can't keep doing this she simply will not change!
Dada: i'm not giving up
Bonez yeah? well i kept at it and look what happened to me!
[Bonez's right arm was bandaged from her shoulder to her elbow]
[ren didn't fall asleep easily thus forged from the will to live so when she finally did]
Bonez: wait! what are you doing!? -whispered-
Dada: if THIS doesn't work we'll give up.
[her bellybutton was peeking out; prime place to be....]
Dada: tickle attack!
[surprisingly (or perhaps not) ren instead of getting mad bolted upright and quietly laughed and ended with a shy smile]
[upon immediately realizing what she just did ren stormed off]
[now to get her talking]
ren -working- -thinking- ........... i'm getting hungry.......
[ren continues work]
[ren groans in pain]
Bonez: is something wrong?
Dada: is it a fever? -puts hand on her forehead- no...
[the sudden attention made ren nervous]
[an abruptly growling stomach answered all questions]
[Bonez and Dada shook their heads no and who it came from was clear]
[then a deep gurgle]
Bonez: ah!
Dada: your growling tummy talks more then you! -laughs-
Bonez: ah ha ha your face is as red as your shirt!
[after that ren began immediately talking]
ren: stop laughing....
Dada: huh?
Bonez: whoa you have quite a low voice!
Dada: totally unexpected Bonez...
Bonez: wellll... since she's been silent for almost a decade perhaps that's not so unexpected.
ren: stop talki--
Dada: yeah i guess you're right
Bonez: so how do we fix that?
Dada: hmm well we can't reverse time....
ren: stop talk---
Bonez: we can't have her sounding like that though. she sounds awful like that!
ren: ╬
Dada: voice training!
Bonez: yeah! so ren when do you want to start?
ren: sayonara -walks off-
Dada: huh? wait! where are you going?
ren: -points to stomach which rumbled one more time-
Bonez: ah i see.
ren: both of you too? -continues walking-
Bonez: huh? no....
Dada: we're not...
~growl~
Dada: .......staying here let's go
Bonez: how'd she know before us?
-from far off-
ren: sensitive senses......
Bonez & Dada: what? we can't hear you!
ren: SENSITIVE SENSES!
Dada: whoa! what a shout!
Bonez: we heard her that time! GREAT SHOUT REN!
Dada: YEAH THAT WAS AWESOME!
ren: Σ -runs off-
[when they asked if there was anything ren really liked the one consistant answer was animals]
hhr1: if you're really quiet and careful about it you might be lucky enough to see her interact with animals, noone has ever recorded such
an event and few have ever seen it.
hhr2: ususally she slips off to secluded quiet places
[but after careful search ren wasn't found in any 'secluded and quiet place']
[until they noticed a dog was going somewhere different then where they'd checked]
Bonez: -whispers- let's follow it!
Dada: ok.
dog: -looks at them briefly and continues to walk down an unknown path-
[almost a hour passed and they were still following he dog]
[just as Dada was going to give up a isolated clearing slowly appeared from the mist]
Dada:-whispers- shhh i see her....
Bonez: -watching intently-
[all around ren, cats dogs birds deer a scene of tranquility, ren was fully at ease; content there was a real smile on her face one that was
rarely seen by human eyes]
ren -with a bird perched on her finger- hmm? time for you to return to your nest? ok then till tommorow.
[the bird flies home]
[a white cat with black stripes jumped onto her shoulder and brushed its whiskers against her face]
ren- chuckles- well here you are white tigress.
cat: meow!
ren: yes yes i have your bow....
cat: meow! -tickles ren's face with her tail-
ren: -laughs genuinely- yes i know on your tail!
[the dog Bonez and Dada followed suddenly barked]
ren: really they have been? yes i sensed them enter... very well you all can return home.
[the dogs and cats and deer all ran off home]
ren: -thoughfully thinking- -white tigress looked at ren and nodded her head-
ren: homeward bound...
Bonez: wait!
Dada: we'll get lost here!
[white tigress appeared and led them back to Homeless Haven]

[not long after that ren was given her voice training and with months of socialization learned to be at ease in public]
