Hello there. Welcome to my world of Random Thoughts. In this world I’ll be posting stuff about anime and manga. Not to mention various other topics. I may post the occasional music video every now and than. And from time to time, I’ll just talk about my life in general. But first, here are a few things about me.

I was born an only child, for one thing. Originally I was planning to go into art professionally, but recently I’ve been more inclined towards writing. I still do the occasional wallpaper every now and then though, and I also still draw a little. But much of my energy these days goes into writing fan fiction. I’ve also recently become interested in archive and library work, which is something I’ve discovered I’m good at. Finally, like most people on the Internet, I like cats.

That’s pretty much all you need to know about me. I'm not sure how often I'll post something here, but I'll try to as often as I can. In the meantime, I hope you all enjoy visiting.

Exceed Is Xyz

This post is for all the players of the Yu-Gi-Oh! card game. I've just learned of a change in terminology, which I have yet to fully confirm. The new Exceed monsters that have appeared in the Yu-Gi-Oh! ZEXAL anime (which is hard to find on Youtube for some reason) will be called Xyz monsters in the North American card game. I don't know the reason for this name change, although I have just found out how the new name is pronounced (ik-seez). I do know that if this new info is acurate, I may have to update a few of the posts in my Yu-Gi-Oh! Workshop world. Anyway, I just though I should let everyone interested know.

Release Update

This post is for all the Yu-Gi-Oh! fans out there. Especially those of you who play the card game. The release date for the 2011 Starter Deck, which is going to be called Dawn of the Xyz in North America, has been moved from May 31st to July 12th. The reason for this is unknown, but it might have something to do with a possible delay of the ZEXAL anime dub. 4kids has been having a licensing dispute with two Japanese companies. So it's unknown when the series will officially air in North America. The bottom line is that those of us who play the card game will have to wait a couple more months to try out the new Exceed monsters.

A Friendly Reminder

For those of you who might be interested and maybe forgot, I have a wallpaper challenge going on right now. It's called Duelist Villains. Basically you just make a wallpaper of your favorite villain(s) from the Yu-Gi-Oh! franchise. The challenge ends on May 2nd, which is next week. So if anyone else wants to enter, you should probably do it soon. There are only four people currently entered, so it's still anyone's game. Thought you should all know.

Skip the Virtual World

I've got this morning's second episode of the original Yu-Gi-Oh! on right now. It's actually almost over. Anyway, I was a little surprised to see that 4kids decided to skip over the Virtual World arc. I actually have mixed feelings about that. The worst part of the Virtual World arc was that it delayed the climax of Battle City. That was a serious error on the part of the writers. Right when the show was going to get to the final duels of the Battle City Tournament, which everyone had been waiting to see, the writers just decided to interrupt everything with a completely different story. If the writers really wanted to do that arc, then they should have written it as taking place after Battle City. It still would have worked.

Picture this, Yugi and the gang are traveling home on Kaiba's blimp. The ordeal of the Battle City Tournament is behind them. Suddenly, Noah's automated sub rises out of the water and forces the blimp to land. Then the Virtual World adventure begins. The writers actually missed a cool opportunity here, because the version of Virtual World I'm suggesting, Marik's evil persona would have already been destroyed, so we could have seen Marik help Yugi and his friends instead of trying to destroy them. It could have been Yugi and Marik against the Big Five instead of Yugi and Joey.

Alternate realities and wishful thinking aside though, there are a few things about the Virtual World arc that I like, such as the following duels.

  • Yugi vs. Gansley/Deepsea Warrior
  • Tea vs. Crump/Nightmare Penguin
  • Tristan, Serenity, and Duke Devlin vs. Nesbit/Robotic Knight/Perfect Machine King
  • Yugi and Joey vs. The Big Five
  • Kaiba/Yugi vs. Noah

Aside from the duels, the Virtual World arc revealed the more of the backstory of the Kaiba brothers, which would have otherwise left out. I also liked the part where Tristan was turned into a robot monkey. That was funny.

Oh well, I guess I'd rather see the end of Battle City sooner instead of later anyway.

Another Song That Would Work

Here's a song that I wish someone would put anime clips or pics to.

One anime series that would probably work with this song is Code Geass. I also think of Kannazuki no Miko when I hear this song for some reason.
