Ladies and gentlemen, Queen and David Bowie.
Hello once again, everyone. This isn't going to be a ranting post. I'm just going to share how my day went. Anyway, there's an episode from Star Trek the Next Generation that if memory serves is called Up the Long Ladder. I won't go into the plot of the episode, but there's a line in there that goes, "for every moment of pleasure, there must come an equal moment of pain." That line has always kind of stuck with me, because there is something to it. Actions have consequences, and in a cosmic way bad things happen to balance out the good. As I mentioned in my last post, I ended up having a pretty awesome day yesterday. So perhaps I should've known that today was going to totally blow.
My day didn't start out being too bad. The old people at the archive I go to four mornings out of the week were a little more irritating than usual and I spent most of the morning typing labels for books, but nothing too bad. It was in the afternoon though when things really started to go south. I should start by mentioning that I've started taking some online classes to earn a certificate in library science. And today I was having a pretty hard time with one of the assignments I had to do for my current class. I'm not going to say what the assignment was about because I really, really don't want to talk about it. But it certainly didn't help matters that while trying to get that wretched assignment done, my internet suddenly went down for about two hours.
Apparently, my internet provider was having some issues today. I tried calling the company to see if they could fix the problem, but their automated service put me on hold for about five minutes before telling me that someone would call back. My internet came back online around 5:30. A few minutes later someone from my service finally called to find out what my problem was. That, my friends, is an example of closing the barn door after the horse had left the stable (or however the heck that expression goes). So the good news is that I was finally able to get my assignment done. Though I'm pretty sure that I may have screwed it up.
So that's pretty much how my day went today. I spent the rest of the evening working on the first chapter of a Digimon fanfic I've been developing while watching a Phil Collins concert on DVD. Hopefully tomorrow will be better for me. Though in my experience I've found that while Mondays can be pretty bad, Tuesdays can sometimes be worse. Anyway, that wraps it up for this post. I hope everyone else has had a better day than I did.
