Cruddy Weekend

Hello again everyone. I trust everybody is having a good leap day. To be honest, I guess I don't care all that much for leap days. I mean the more optimistic way to look at a leap day is that it's an extra day that we all get, but in reality that extra day seems like nothing more than an illusion. None of us know exactly how long we're going to be around on this planet, so adding a single day to an unknown number of days seems pointless to me. I guess I see a leap day as being more like a pointless delay on the calendar. I'm ready for it to be March, and it would be March were it not for this one extra day. It's a little bit like when an anime series does a recap episode (a.k.a. a clipshow) half way through it's run. Instead of doing an episode that moves the plot of the series forward, they spend the half hour running clips from all the previous episodes for those who missed the entire first half of the show for whatever unfortunate reason.

Anyway, I mainly wanted to do a post to share how the past weekend went for me. As some of you reading have probably deduced from the title, my weekend did not go all that great. It wasn't a total disaster. For instance, the weather where I live that Saturday afternoon was in the mid-sixties, so I got to go for a long walk. Still, there were some things about the weekend that totally sucked. I won't say what two of those things were, as they're a little too much on the personal side. The other two things have to do what happened that Saturday night.

It all began half an hour before the Toonami lineup on Cartoon Network/Adult Swim. There was nothing on T.V. during that half hour, so I decided to just put my television on mute until Toonami came on. At that point there were probably a lot of other things that I should've done, like read a book or play a round of Dungeon Dice Monsters on my old Gameboy Advance (yeah, I still have one). Instead I did the last thing that I should've done, which was close my eyes and relax. I dozed off for two hours. Thankfully I had recorded that night's episodes of Parasyte and Dragon Ball Z Kai, but I completely missed the first episode of that new Dimension W series that Toonami started running to replace Akame ga Kill. I'm kind of mad at myself for letting that happen.

Of course sleeping through most of the Toonami lineup was only just the beginning of my horrible Saturday night. When I really did try going to bed, I couldn't get to sleep until around 4:00 AM. In short, I really screwed up my sleep cycle. Needless to say I wound up with a killer migraine the next morning. What's even worse though is that the events of that unfortunate Saturday night have really thrown me off my game where my writing is concerned. I just can't seem to get back to work on any of my various fan fiction projects. It's a bit like my brain was a Pokemon game cartridge and someone forgot to save the game before turning me off. I know not that much time has passed, but I just can't seem to get into the right state of mind to write any of the stories I've been working on.

As I said though, the weekend wasn't entirely bad. I spent much of Sunday afternoon binge watching that new Gundam series, Iron-Blooded Orphans on Crunchyroll. I have to admit that the show has kind of grown on me. There are some aspects of Iron-Blooded Orphans that I find… "questionable", but it's been doing a pretty solid job with character development. Those reviews about the series on the Anime News Network were not wrong. I still like Gundam SEED better though.

I think that'll about do it for this post. Until next time, I'd like to close with this cool image of Alexis from GX wearing an Obelisk Force uniform from ARC-V that I just found.
