Hey everyone. Just a few moments ago, I read another edition of the Anime News Network's Answerman column that talked about why American cartoons done in an anime style don't really feel like anime. That's something I've often wondered about myself when watching an anime-style show like Avatar: The Last Airbender. Just what is that indefinable quality that Western attempts to make an anime-esqu series seem to be missing. This latest article has finally answered that question for me, so I've decided to post a link to the article so that anyone else who's wondered about this can read it.

I guess I'v never really thought about the animation techniques used by Japanese animators being that quality that Western attempts at replicating anime are lacking. It is pretty easy for a skilled artist to replicate anime character designs, but I guess that the actual animation techniques are really something else all together.
