The Geyser

Civilization always enjoyed one substance. It was a wonderful thing. What was this wonderful substance you may ask? It was water. This liquid had been given to the Beings of the Earth (more commonly referred to as humans) by the Lords of the Skies, one of the many things that governed their society. Water had given them many things. It gave them something to drink, something to bathe in, and something to cool their bodies. However, their were some, who never enjoyed this wonderful luxury known as water.

The Disciples of Hades, more commonly known as Hadalians by the Beings of the Earth, were beings who lived inside of the earth. These beings had never seen the crystal waters of the world above. They had their own version of water. However this water was murky, and foul tasting. They had heard rumors of the beautiful water of the surface, and the wanted that wondrous substance. And there were no Hadalians who wanted this water more than the royal family.

Unlike the Beings of the Earth, the Hadalian civilization was one ruled by a royal family, instead of gods. And the royal family’s word was law. Should you not follow their decrees, your fate would not be a pleasant one. The royal family was headed by the king and queen, King Luciano and Queen Hellita. They were cold, but fair rulers of the Hadalians, who were never opposed, as far as the rest of the beings of the world knew.

One day, Queen Hellita made a startling demand. “I want the water from the humans above us!” she commanded. Not wanting to end up with horrible fates, her servants obeyed her. They tried to take the water from above, but they could not make it to the surface. Every attempt that was made had been foiled. Queen Hellita became angry with the Beings of the Earth. She too tried to gain entrance to the surface world. But even she, the Queen of the Hadalians, had been denied entrance to the surface.

In a fit of rage she went to King Luciano and roared, “Bring me the water from the surface!” Looking to appease his wife’s anger, King Luciano, and his great power, dragged some of the surface water into their earthen world. Queen Hellita, finally pleased, was calm once again, and enjoyed her crystal water. But, as the Hadalians would soon learn, taking things that don’t belong to you has a terrible consequence.

The Humans, angry with the Hadalians, pleaded to the Lords of the Sky for help. The Lords of the Sky, now also angry with the Hadalians, shook the very earth in which the Hadalians lived. This earthquake formed holes in the earth leading into the stone encased civilization of the Hadalians. The Humans charged in and began fighting with the Hadalians. The battle lasted centuries. After the Hadalians had almost completely been wiped out, the King and Queen were defeated. After much time, the Hadalian royal family agreed to send the water back to the surface.

On the appointed day the Hadalians said they would return the water, many Humans waited outside the very caves they used to enter and battle the Hadalians. They heard the sounds of a rushing river. Their water was returning to them! Oh yes! After so long, water was returning to them! But, it was no where near what they expected.

The water that came up, was not the clean, cool water they had lost oh so long ago. This water was dingy and dirty. This water was also much hotter than it was when it was lost. This was the Hadalian Royal Family’s revenge on the Beings of the Earth. For slaughtering the Hadalians for so long, they Hadalians would now slaughter the Humans with the very thing they coveted. This happened in several of the holes in the world. Water shot out in steaming, hot, dirty cannons. These boiling water spouts became known as geysers. This word stemmed from the Hadalian words geyden, killer, and ser, what Hadalians called humans. The new word meaning “human killer”, was made by the Hadalians to punish the Beings of the Earth by using the very thing the humans wanted back.

Whether the Hadalians died out or not is unknown. All that is known is that the spirits of King Luciano and Queen Hellita still reside in the earth causing the geysers everywhere to erupt, still hoping to exact their revenge on the Beings of the Earth for what the they did to Disciples of Hades all those generations ago.
