Face Down by: Red Jumpsuit Apparatus
Hey girl you know you drive me crazy
One look puts the rhythm in my hand
Still I'll never understand why you hang around
I see what's going down.
Cover up with make up in the mirror
Tell yourself it's never gonna happen again
You cry alone and then he swears he loves you.
Do you feel like a man
When you push her around?
Do you feel better now, as she falls to the ground?
Well I'll tell you my friend, one day this world's going to end
As your lies crumble down, a new life she has found.
A pebble in the water makes a ripple effect
Every action in this world will bear a consequence
If you wait around forever you will surely drown
I see what's going down.
I see the way you go and say you're right again,
Say you're right again,
Heed my lecture.
Do you feel like a man
When you push her around?
Do you feel better now, as she falls to the ground?
Well I'll tell you my friend, one day this world's going to end
As your lies crumble down, a new life she has found.
Face down in the dirt
She said "This doesn't hurt!"
She said "I finally had enough!" [2x]
Face down in the dirt
She said "This doesn't hurt!"
She said "I finally had enough!"
(Screaming)
One day she will tell you that she has had enough
It's coming round again
Do you feel like a man
When you push her around?
Do you feel better now, as she falls to the ground?
Well I'll tell you my friend, one day this world's going to end
As your lies crumble down, a new life she has found.
Do you feel like a man
When you push her around?
Do you feel better now, as she falls to the ground?
Well I'll tell you my friend, one day this world's going to end
As your lies crumble down, a new life she has found.
Face down in the dirt
She said "This doesn't hurt!"
She said "I finally had enough!"
This song is about an abusive boyfriend how beats up his girlfriend, and she tells eveyone that she is alright, she says things like "ohh I triped and fell" just different excuses. And she wears a lot of make up so hopefully people won't see the brusies and other things that is caused by her boyfriend.
And that is pretty much what this book is about. Well, kinda. This book is told from two different things. At the beginning of this book, Nick is in court with Caitlin and her parents. And he is supposed to take anger managment classes and keep a diary. And this book is told from what is currently going on and from his diary. Which is what happened and why everything is the way it is.
The reason is that One day Nick and Caitlin started going out. And they got REALLY close. Then one day Nick and Caitlin and a bunch of other friends went on this trip thing were they went on a boat and went diving and things like that. Then when they were on their wasy back, Nick was pretending not to have his hands on the wheel as they were going over a really small bridge, and Caitlin got really freaked out and was trying to grab the wheel so they would stay on the bridge. Then all of a sudden Nick reached across and slapped her really hard. She started crying and then the next day at school she wore extra makeup and when anyone asked about the bruise she told them she fell. And that is basically what the beginning of the song is like.
But of course, the song is from someone elses point of view. Like it is her friend and they figure out what is going on, that she is getting beat up by her boyfriend. But in the book it is from the abusive boyfriend's point of view.
Then, in the end of the song, it says how the girlfriend finally says she has enough and just walks out on him. Cause she is tired of getting beat up. That is what happens at the end of this book (well in the end of the diary part were he tells what happened) Nick got really madat Caitlin because she sang at this talent show contest and he didn't want her to. Then when they were on their way to the car, he got really mad and started punching her and totally beating her up. Then, his friends come by and see this happening and pull him off of her. That is when she basically says that she has had enough. Then they go to court. And tjat os wjem Nick's point of view comes in.
The song and the book are both about a girl getting beat up by their boyfriend. And many lines in the song are exactly what happened in the book. That is why everytime I hear this song, I think of this book, cause they are so much alike.
