These things are everywhere, I swear. A friend showed them to me a couple of days ago. And then this morning, it was on the cover of the Daily Flyer. And then just now, Maiden of Life posted about it. So I am too. You have to admit though, they are pretty cool.

As for myself, I'm floundering in homework and might be coming down with a cold....I'll do a decent update sometime soon.
Spirited Cinderella
Has anyone ever read a version of Cinderella that isn't the Disney version? It's much different, more different than Sleeping Beauty was (which isn't much different at all). You should read it, if you get the chance.
When Spirited Away first came out, I read a review of it that said it was a Cinderella story and then after I saw it, I thought, "It's nothing like Cinderella!" After learning a little about Cinderella, I take that back. Spirited Away is definitely a Cinderella story.
-Chihiro is seperated from her parents (Cinderella's mother dies and her father is always gone)
-She is forced to "work among the ashes"
-During this hard work, she is able to see her own value
-Haku is able to see her for who she truly is even though she can't remember who she is(like the Prince is able to recognize Cinderella)
I'm using the Grimm version of Cinerella, by the way. So, so far there hasn't been any ruining by Fairy tales and Fantasy. I really like learning about these interpretations. It's like when I found out that the Wizard of Oz was about the Guilded Age....I guess I'm kind of a dork like that.
Anyway. Our first anime club meeting was last night. We had about a third of the people who signed up come. Didn't get a lot of response out of them but it was our first meeting so I suppose I shouldn't have been so expectant. I'm hoping it will get better from here.
In other things, my cousin, thinkanti, might be coming down to see me this weekend and I'm very excited.
But right now I've got a lot of homework to do....I hope you all enjoy your weekends. Till next time.
First Week
The first week of school has finally ended. Sigh. My schedule is a whirlwind of class and work but it's managable, I think. Speaking of work, I didn't take on that second job that I was offered because they didn't want to hire me for one three hour shift. Which is fine. Now that I'm into my routine for the most part, I don't think I'd be able to handle that second job.
In other school-related news, the Anime Club booth at the Involvement Fair at school was a big hit. Or at least I consider it a hit. We had 27 people sign up! Compare that with the six or seven people who came last year. I'm so excited for it. Now if only we could keep them all....
My classes aren't as exciting as I was expecting them to be but they're still relatively interesting. I think my Fairytales and Fantasy lit class will ruin some things for me though. The first day of class I found out that Cinderella is or rather was, originally a story about father/daughter incest and the daughter makes herself ugly to escape. AWKWARD.
Other than that, not much has been going on. Or rather, there isn't enough time for things to happen. I'm pretty much busy from 6am-5pm every day. We'll see how this semester goes. I hope everyone is doing well and adjusting accordingly. Till next time.
Recovery
Teeth being taken out isn't so bad. Not like I was expecting it to be. But I'm for the most part healed. Still can't eat solid foods very well. Back at work and everything. Funny how just doing paperwork can really get me exhausted...
Ponyo was excellent by the way. Having a theater full of little kids and their parents makes it ten times better.
Cram
Got a part-time job for the rest of the summer. Nothing fancy, just another office job. It's kind of pointless, really. I'm only working for about two weeks. However, my employer said that I could continue to work in the fall, if I wanted. Don't know if I'll be able to handle two jobs and school at the same time....
I get my wisdom teeth taken out tomorrow. That should be...fun. I'm not worried though. I've had oral surgery before.
Sunday some friends and I are going to go see Ponyo, Miyazaki's new movie. I'm really looking forward to that. I've heard mixed reviews about it, so we'll see how that goes.
