Titles are Overrated

Birthday has come and gone yet again. Every year it sort of surprises me that I've gotten a year older (although why, I have no idea). That means the summer vacation is half over.

Looking at fan art here on theO today made me really want to draw. Too bad I really SUCK at it right now. -_- It's a little depressing, actually. But it's okay because I'm almost done with the final design for my comission! I'm super excited about it. It was driving me crazy for a long time because there are so many people in the picture (like ten). I don't think I've ever done something with more than three. I'm actually really pleased with it and all that needs to be done is transfering to a new sheet and coloring. I wonder if after I'm done with all this work if my employer will let me put some stuff up here....

Dead Fantasy III and IV are online. Has anyone seen them? Honestly, I have to say that they're almost a little disappointing. Maybe I just like choatic fighting with larger groups rather than one-on-one battles. But there are still some really great fights and interesting tid-bits. Man, I love fight scenes. And if you don't know what Dead Fantasy is...just go watch it.

Went to an art festival today. That was fun. It's really hot right now, so I didn't like the heat much but it's always good to go see art venders.

Been working on cosplay for myself and serenitytsu. I'm trying to get serenitytsu's costume done and out of the way first. It's very complicated (I really hope you appreciated this costume, S-chan, 'cause it's annoyingly difficult. But at least you know how to give me a challenge). I'm hoping to get at least one piece finished by the end of this week, so we'll see.

Watched Coraline in 3-D last night (or this morning because it was like 1 am). Kind of a creepy movie but I really liked it. Apparently it's based on a book but I've never heard of the book before. By the way, the 3-D was not that impressive. I think I'll add it to the ever-growing list of movies that I like and can't afford. Ha ha.

Catch up

These last couple of days have been pretty crazy and I've had a hard time trying to catch up with things. Just now getting around to it. Let's see, where to start?

I had a job interview on Thursday. It seemed to go well enough and I should know next week whether I go the job or not. Please wish me luck!

Thusday I also went to a symphonic concert for Final Fantasy music. It was really amazing. If you want to read my full review, it's on my Musings WORLD. I took a friend with me and realized he's my only friend who plays videogames. I need more gamer friends.

Today there was a memorial service for my friend's grandfather, who passed away on the first. Out of all the memorial services I've been to for his family, this was the most light-hearted. But it really didn't detract from the reality that he's lost his entire family in two and a half years. But I know he'll be alright.

I suppose that that's about all for now. I hope everyone is doing well. Til next time.

Things I Forgot

So I was going through my sketch book the other night and found this picture that I did a while back based on an experience I had at the con I went to in April. I got carried away with the shading, so I have no plans of putting it up but the story is still worth sharing.

So at the con I saw this guy, who had to be at least 70, maybe 75, in a walker cosplaying as Mario. It was the most hardcore thing I'd ever seen.

Another thing that I forgot to mention about the con was that Yaya Han was there, selling accessories. If you don't know who Yaya Han is, she's a pretty well-known cosplayer. She's probably know best for her gigantic wing props. She's actually a lot smaller in person than she looks in her pictures. But yeah, I saw her and my eyes almost popped out of my head. "Holy crap, it's Yaya Han!" She's practically a celebrity. You know, one of those moments.

Cons give me great material to use in my manuscript. Maybe I should start collecting stories. Anyone got any cosplay stories they'd like to share?

Looong Weekend

Got back from my brother's baseball tournament today. It was an all weekend affair. They played at their usual. They're not a great team but they tried, and I guess that's really all you can realistically ask for. The tournament was in my grandma's town, so we took her home at the same time. It worked out well.

I've been moving all of my stuff from the old computer (that can't connect to internet and has no USB port) onto my laptop. Lots of hours of typing. I recently copied "For the Love of Cosplay" onto my laptop. It was one of those things where you think, "Did I actually write this?" That was written really badly. So I've been brain-storming like crazy on how to redo it. But I took a hiatus on writing for the summer. Hopefully things were ferment enough that I can write decently come fall. Ha ha.

Beat FFXII. The ending was REALLY easy. And really, the ending was the only part that I liked. The plot for that game just didn't grab me. So I started playing Shadow Hearts of the New World. Weird game. Let me give an example. There's this one character, named Frank, who I think is European guessing by his accent. But he's a ninja. His master is a giant cat named Mao (a Chinese ninja?). And guess where the school is based in? South America. Like I said, weird.

In other news, I'm applying for two jobs. Wish me luck!

Hope you all are well.

Update

My grandma is out of the hospital and is living with my aunt for a week. She seems to be doing alright. Yet I always feel a little strange approaching her. It actually feels a lot like approaching my other grandma who has Alzheimer's. Like I'm afraid of breaking her. If she knew that's how I felt, she'd get all indignant.

My parents are nagging me for a second job. That's the first thing that my mom says to me when she comes home. All I can think of is, "You've been gone all day and that's all you can say to me?" I guess I can't really complain. There could be worse things in my life. And I suppose that I can't blame them or anything, since my mom is losing her job. And I don't really mind working. I actually get bored really easily, so a job might be nice. It's just interviewing that I really hate. It just seems to be a vomit of self-serving lies. Maybe that's putting it too harshly. Oh well.

Hope you aren't melting away in the heat, everyone. Stay cool.
