Work
Last week was my first week of work. It's the same job that I had last summer so I sort of know what I'm doing (what I can remember). I can't stand the job and money is no motivating factor for me so mustering the motivation is difficult. I prefer school over a job hands down. Sigh. I'm not allowed to quit until I find another job and I have to work full time. >< I'm so spoiled. So if I'm MIA for a few days, or weeks, you'll know why....
June
May is over (and I'm not dead (bonus))! That's a relief. Life is still pretty hectic though. It's my last full week of school so I have finals and things like that. I don't think it's completely sunk in yet.
Speaking of finals, for one of them, we're performing "Comedy of Errors" by Shakespear--Mario style (see what happens when you bring great minds (geeks) together?). It's gonna rock. I get to be a Koopa. My costume consists of green clothing and a backpack (for a shell). And a giant cardboard hammer. I'm excited. But...we're being graded on our acting performance and that really isn't my department....I should be okay though.
If anyone remembers (or has stuck with theO or myself for so long) that story/manga thing I was writing AGES ago, I thought I should say that it's close to being finished. I'm on the last two chapters, which I already know what they're about, so it's basically finished. Did you know I put you guys in my dedication? You'd probably only get it if you remembered the plot at all because I didn't name you all specifically. A lot of those people have left the site now anyways. I'm really set on getting it published once I finish it. I might hold off until I finish the manga first, since they sort of go together as a package. I don't know. Just know that I appreciate all your help, you guys.
I hope you all are well and keeping focused as summer gets closer. Hang in there!
Go, Speed Racer, Go!
Okay, no joke, kids, YOU HAVE TO GO SEE SPEED RACER. It's amazing and surprisingly artistic. No matter what you think about it from the trailers...there's no way that any movie that is made from any kind of show or comic book is going to be disappointing.
A friend and I went and saw it today after school as a Yay-Exams-Are-Over celebration. I swear we were the only people within 100 miles that were excited to go see it. And we were totally justified. I only stopped shaking a little while ago (from adrenalin and excitement, you know).
There's a certain K-pop singer in it too. I kept staring at the screen saying, "I know you." Turns out I was right. He speaks surprisingly well.
Anyway, if you've got any respect for the old school, you've got to go see it. You won't be disappointed.
Month of Hell
That's the subtitle I've given May. I'm pretty sure that I'll die somewhere in the next three weeks. At least the first hurdle is over and done with and I can focus more on my impending doom.
What kind of impending doom, you ask? Let's just say three exams in the span of four days and a presentation that I MUST pass. I'm really not stressing out about it as much as I should. After that, I can relax a little (I hope) and it'll all be fine. Until June.
But enough about that. I've just come upon the opportunity of a lifetime. I've been asked by an acquaintance to do character design for a video game! It's a text-based game so my designs won't be actually in the game (that's what it sounds like) but they'll be up on the game's website. I can't believe that this actually happened. Most people go out looking for this sort of thing (I myself have never because it wasn't a huge interest of mine) and yet it found me. I'm really looking forward to start working on it!
Oh, in case you haven't noticed (I don't know how you couldn't have, if you go to your backroom all the time), I have new fan art up too! It's for the fan comic "Legend of Zelda: Waste of Time" here on theO. I really am in love with that comic and I'm very proud of the fan art I did for it. I plan on getting the sketch up and also another piece up hopefully this week. So check back in soon!
I hope you all are well!
Report
It's been a while since the con, and for some reason I feel I should give some kind of report (why? You're not a journalist anymore, remember?). I guess it's just out of habit.
We ended up having a half day the day the con started because it was the end of quarter so a friend and I (along with my mom and aunt) drove up. We got there later than expected so I missed out on a few things but it was okay. I felt really bad because my family and friend were just sitting out in the lobby watching people. They said that they enjoyed it (except my cousin, who is rather frightened and distrubed by the crazy otaku) but I still felt guilty.
Saturday was the day that my friend had a pass so we stuck together for the entire day (I was the chaperone anyway). I really enjoyed theO meet-up (I bet you can guess which con I went to), since it was my first time, and look forward to seeing everyone again next year.
Sunday was most liberating. I didn't have anyone to really worry about so I got to do whatever I wanted. I really got to strike out on my own this year (last year we were only there for five hours) and experience a lot. It was great fun.
Spring Break started right after that and I'm sure that it was the most boring time of my life. I had absolutely NOTHING to do. I even contemplated not even bothering to get out of bed. Usually I'd play video games or something but our VCR ports (you know, where you plug in your game console) doesn't pick up video feed anymore. My dad has refused to pay to fix it because money is tight and the economy isn't that great right now. So for the majority of break I sat and watched my cats sunbathe.
Towards the end of the weekend, I got started on a cosplay. When you have something to do, you really gain some focus in your life. Or at least, that's what I think (my life is pathetic). So I'm very slowly working on that. I've been deliberately drawing it out so that I have something to do when I get home other than sleep.
However, exams are less than a month away and if I was smart I'd be cramming. Of course, I'm not. Maybe I will after I run out of distractions....which shouldn't be far off. Yay, exams.
I hope you all are well and are occupied (in a good way). Till next time!
