The Meeting.
The eyes followed me as I walked into the midnight bar. Everyone around didn't rest until I sat down at the front counter and put down my bag.
"What would you like?" the bartender asked me, with no sense of emotion in his voice. His eyes were closed and his wavey, jet, black hair hanged over his forehead on one side and curled out from behind his ears.
"One Lancers Rose, please." I answered. I know it is an inexpensive drink, but it's one of the most vibrant drinks I had came across.
"Lawerence?" he muttered, with a hint of suprise. I looked up and stared at him. I could feel a smile coming from the corner of my lips, his eyes were still closed. "Can't believe I didn't notice it sooner. You've changed. How long has it been?"
"Nice to see you too Jake."
"So what are you doing here?" he asked while pouring my drink. "It's rare to see you in this area."
"I can't believe I fooled your senses. Man, I've used to try like crazy, it's about time." I laughed in sense of relief and hoping to dodge the question. He laughed too, longer then I did. His face lightened up and the Jake I once knew stood before me. I took the cup of Rose he set down infront of me and took a sip, it tasted refreshing.
The bar bell rang signaling a new custumor has come. Once again everyone turned in unison and the air suddenly got dense. It was a bit different from when I walked in, so I looked up at Jake, his face unreadable. I turned back to take a look since I was the only one who didn't bother with such trival things as looking everytime the door opens. I started thinking maybe the custumor was a total outcast or something of the sort. But yet there stood the most vulgar yet handsome guy with the most starliging eyes of all--round, dark eyes, with gold flecks. Deep, narrow eyes that look like they've caught a glimpse behind the gates of hell. High cheekbones, classical straight nose.. a guy any girl would fall for instantly.
His eyes met mine in an instant as he stood there perfectly still like a statue, I frooze. It was as if he was focusing on me leaving everyone to drop their heads, realived. Taking advantage of the low rate of intensity I dropped the eye contact and focus back on Jake for safety support. Jake then smiled for some apparent reason and then turned back to look at me casually. My thoughts started to wonder.. everyone in the room feels nervous expect Jake? He really hasn't changed all these years, care free as always..
My thoughts froze as I now sensed him pass by right behind me heading for what I now noticed was a staircase, hidden in the far right side of the bar. He moved swiftly without a sound and was taller then I expected.
"That's Jaidon." Jake said, catching me as I took a quick look before he was out of sight. I glanced up at him as he continued, "How about it, are you intrested?" I just sat there now staring at him with a blank expression. He ignored me completely and leaned over the bar with his elbow on the counter and hand under his chin, "He's not very social though. He's a tough one to crack, Jaidon I mean.." His tone softened and his face started to lose its sense of amusement. His eyes started to glitter as if lost in thoughts, leaving me feeling out of place. I went back to my drink and finished it all as I tryed to clear out thoughts of my own.
Jake ended up going to serve the other customers after he poured me my second cup. "Don't drink to much." he warned, putting the bottle out of my reach. What am I, a little kid? Jeez..
I started to debate whether or not I could sneak around by him and snatch the bottle without him noticing. I doubt it though, fooling him once was suprising enough. Instead I grabbed another bottle that I only had to strech to get. Jake was an old friend whom I parted ways with to go our seperate ways. I never thought he would open up his own bar with being blind and all. Well, he may be blind but his other senses are beyond average. I used to never be able to get away or escape from him unless he let me slip on by. He's also able to read and catch the discomfort of others so easily. Let's just say you don't have to worry so much has long as you don't touch him.
"Hey you, wake up!" screamed Jake, waking me up. I looked at him and let out a ywan.
"Most have fallen alseep." I thought to myself outloud. "What time is it?"
"Everyone's gone now, I closed the place up already. You know, you can rent a room here too it's not only a bar, you know." he said, showing off and looking proud.
"Rent? That's how you treat an old friend!"
"Hey, a brother gotta stay in business ye hear."
"What's up with the slangs? Jeez Jake man." I put my head down again, trying to get comfortable.
"Okay fine! I'll give you a room free just for today. Let's go hurry up, I have work to do tomorrow." He dragged me up stairs, carrying my bag along with him. He lead me to a room that wasn't half bad. I slept like a baby.
"Jake?" I called out opening the door, head pounding. I looked up to see Jaidon standing before me with a blank expression. His hair, wet and towel in hand. I looked down, he wasn't wearing a shirt realiving his tonned yet muscular body. I tryed to keep the reddness back away from my face, luckly he was wearing pants.
"Jake's downstairs." he said, his voice surprising me. He closed the door behind him and walked down the hall, drying his hair with his towel. I stepped back inside, closed the door shut and leaned back against the wall. I ran my fingers threw my hair to make sure I didn't just make a total fool out of myself. I grabbed my bag from the corner of the room and made my way downstairs.
"Finally awake huh." said Jake. As I reached the bottom of the stairs I noticed him sitting down.
"A bed to sleep in eh. How about some breakfeast to top it off?" I asked teasing yet hoping for some food.
"Do you even know what time it is? You've been sleeping for a while, I already ate. Go make your own."
"I'm not the only one." I argued. He looked at me and then remembered,
"Oh so Jaidon's still up there. I thought he left already." he glanced out the window. Jake wasn't the type to speak about others so I didn't bother asking about him. I took out an egg and started cooking. "Aren't you going to make him some too?"
"Do I have too?"
"I'm not hungry." a voice called out. I looked back to see Jaidon sitting down across from Jake. They started whispering about something but I couldn't make out what they were saying. Where did he come from? I finished up my plate, took out and opened my laptop that I kept safe in my bag.
"Hey Lawerence, where's Taylor?" asked Jake, still sitting down. I stopped typing,
"I don't know, you have his number don't you." I started typing agian, "Go call him."
"Nah, I'll pass. How's Jasper doing?" Man what's up with the questions all of a sudden. I turned around,
"He's coming by later." From the corner of my eye I could see Jaidon sitting down. It looked like he wasn't paying much attention.
"Don't tell me he's going to steal a room for free too." complained Jake. I turned back around, hidding a smile.
"Your the one that offered the room, remember?"
"Sure, sure." he stood up, "I'm going next door, I'll be back." Jake left and then Jaidon headed for the bar. He passed by my table and started looking through the cabniets as if looking for something.
"Jaidon, right?" I asked. He paused,
"Yeah." He didn't even bother looking up as he answered.
"Can you get me a cup of water, please?" I asked, regreting it later on.
"Can't you get it yourself?" he said, staring me right in the eye.
"It's right beside you." He looked to his left and after a short pause, he picked up a cup. After filling it with water he put it down next to me.
"Thanks." I picked up the cup and took an advil, my head was still pounding.
"What are you writing?" he asked, standing behind me with one hand on the back of my chair. He bent down to look and I quickly closed the laptop.
"I just did you a favor and now your hidding something from me?" He streched out his arms around me and opened the laptop, I froze. He typed quite fast and brought the up the last file I had been on. He not only had his arms around me, but he was also acting as if it's casual.
"Oh I see." he whispered, his lips right next to my ear. I could feel the reddness on my cheeks. "Sooo?" he asked, sounding amused as he turned to look at me.
"Jaidon, don't!" Jake said loudier then needed. Jaidon stood back up as Jake entered the room. That was quick I thought to myself.
"Sure, sure." Jaidon obeyed, repeating Jake's words right back at him. So he was listening after all.. I quickly put my laptop back in my bag and stood up. Jake and Jaidon were both staring back at eachother saying nothing, as if communicating without words.
"Jake do you know anywhere near by where I can get a disky flop?" I interupted, breaking their connect. Jake looked at me,
"Huh, oh. There is one actually. Hey Jaidon take her to Rafeal." Wasn't Jake just mad because Jaidon got so.. well close? Jaidon ran his fingers through his hair.
"Sure, why not." he gave in.
The walk to the store was suprisely quiet. We didn't talk much and he didn't even ask what the disk was for. The store was pretty small but I could tell the owner knew a lot of about technolgy. On the way back to the bar we took a shortcut, an alleyway.
"Are you sure this is a shortcut?" I asked, letting him take the lead.
"Yup." he paused, "Why are you scared?" I continued to walk, attempting to ignore him. "Here" he reached for the bag containing the things I had bought. His cold hand touched mine and didn't let go, "Lawerence right?"
"Huh?" What's this all of a sudden, a replay of what happened in the bar?
"Your name, I mean." he laughed. It took a minute to digest what just happened, his beauty was too much.
"Clarissa."
"Hmm. Clarissa eh." He tilted his head a bit to the side as he took a good long look at me. I just stood there feeling awkward and cold at his touch. "What's the gun for, Clarrissa?" he asked slowly, sliding his hands back into his pocket. I stared at him bewildered until he added, "The one on your wraist, that is." It shouldn't be visable, it shouldn't be.. It's tucked in behind me, how'd he..
Mission Failed.
She's so cute that it's so freakn' funny. I know that might not make much sense because if she was cute it wouldn't actually be funny but.. Well, actually it's hilerious. Each minute that goes by I get to see a new expression of hers. Her habits makes it so hard for me to keep on a blank expression. And her eyes.. They keep trying to avoid mine. Begging for a momment of freedom. She doesn't even stop to think and realize that they more you run the better the chase.
I debated whether or not to reveal one of my secrets. If I do, I would be breaking Rule # 1. But does that really matter? I mean rules are meant to be broken, are they not?
It was like one of those annoying debate shows going on inside my head. Well, Jake did say she's different. If anything happens, then hey I'll just go and blame it on him. Ha, like that'll work.
But I wonder, how will she respond, move, flicker, look like, smell like.. Would she run?
I flashed up infront of her using a bit of my charm. Her eyes flickered wide open. Ehh, not one blink. I lower my head hidding a smile, trying to focus, and let out a hiss. A shiver went down her spine as her heart stopped for 1,2,3 full seconds. Her blood glushed around rapidly, in desperate need for escape. She let out a whisper that no mortal could grasp,
"Wait, your--" I pressed my lips down against the side of her neck, remembering a pathetic horror film based on legends.
"And so what if I am?" I laughed, feeling amused, "Why don't you just use your gun?" She flinched as if remembering she contained one. "How about it vampire hunter?" She looked me straight in the eyes like she knew she wouldn't be fast enough. That she didn't stand a chance, and yet didn't care.
It pissed me off. So I tilted my head down again and kissed down gently once more. I allowed my heart to beat normally, letting my breath against her skin irriate her. It didn't work.
"It's not mine." she answered, clearly. No cracks, no hesitations. I clenched my fist and looked up at her. Her eyes told me what her voice bravy protected. I let out one of my best smile and rested the palm of my hand on her cheek. All she did was shiver, I tried to contain my unsatified anger. "Then who's is it?" I tried to act causal.
"Taylor's." she answered weakly. The smile always works. I pushed her lightly back against the wall, aware of how fragile she is.
"A boy huh." I pointed out before I let my lips expore her neck. She didn't resist. Why?!
"Hmm.. this is unusal." I let out in a whisper, wanting a definate answer for my loss.
"What is?" she whispered back, regreting that our eyes met, and locked.
"Your not resisting." I cupped my hand under her chin and lifted it up, allowing myself to stand up straight.
"Just bite me already." she said, looking away. I clenched my teeth and then released.
"You're a strange one--" I paused remember what Jake had told me. "So that is why he said." I chuckled. She tried to pull away, but I didn't let her. "What's this, changed your mind?"
"Who told you what?!" she demanded. She never fails me.
"Ohhh, now your angry, so cute." I said, smiling. She looked away and I decided to let her in on a little joke.
"Okay, I'll tell you." I leaned in and bit her ear softly. "Jake dared me to." I whispered. She froze but I continued wanting to chase more. "Didn't you wonder why he was acting so weird. You actually think a guy like him wouldn't realize what I really am." My body went still as I remembered the first time I met him. "Out of all things I let him touch me." I paused regreting the seriousness in my tone.
For Jake to touch someone means he sees everything about them. Their past, their present and their thoughts get all transfered to him in just one touch. To be born with such a gift and end up touching a vampire of all creatures. A vampire who does all sorts of awful things, heh poor Jake .
"I gived him quite a shock though." I added, feeling amused.
"Your kidding, he touched you?" she asked as if talking to her bestfriend. My eyes flashed back on her, she knows?
I nodded, smiled and then started kissing her again but this time on her lips. Once again she didn't resist. It felt like she was long in thought, I shouldn't have told her.
"Let's go then?" I asked softly, letting my hands slip down her arms and stopping at her hands, stepping back.
"What are you talking about!" she asked irriated. Now she knows how I feel. I smile and step back in to kiss her softly and passionately. I stop mid way and put my hand innocently on my mouth.
"You should really kiss back once in a while, it's like I'm doing all the work." I smirked.
"It's not like I have any choice in this, now do I!" she exploded. I leaned in and kissed her once more, curious if she would now kiss back. She didn't.
I leaned back.
"Of course you have a choice." I laughed, knowing fully well she didn't. I picked up the bag of goods and pulled her against me as we walked back to the bar.
--
"Hey, Jaidon?" I asked before we entered the bar. He turned to look at me, "Your a vampire, but yet you didn't do anything. How did--"
"I'm full, that's why. I guess I ate too much already." he confessed, smiling so he could show off his teeth. My mouth dropped but something about him made me smile.
By the time Jasper arrived, I was upstairs changing clothes. I put on a skirt, some boots and a jacket over my shirt. It was about eight o'clock, already dark outside. I packed up my bag and walked down the stairs. Jasper was at the bottom of the stairs waiting for me. He looked the same as usual-- pale golden hair, creamy skin; eyes darker than a sky blue, richer than a jewel. He wore his black and white uniform and was smiling. All eyes were on me once again but this time Jake's customers were all whistling.
Maybe I should have wore something different.. Jasper got down on his knees and kissed my hand,
"Long time no see, your majesty." he said, playing along with everyone. From the corner of my eye I saw Jaidon sitting down looking my way. His look unreadable, so I turned to look at him trying to get a better view. But he turned away, taking a sip of his cup. Could that really be wine, or is that..
"Here Jake." I said handing him an envolope. He opened it and took a peak. "You didn't really think I would take advantage of you like that." I smiled. The envolope contained the payment for the room I rented. He accepted it in laughter.
"Let's go then." Jasper interupted. I nodded and followed him out. He slipped into his black BMW and unlocked the door for me.
"Where you going?" said a voice behind me. I turned around to see Jaidon, staring at me. The car window rolled down,
"You coming or not?" Jasper asked unpatiently. He's probably wondering what a vampire like Jaidon would want with me. I nodded and was about to go inside the car but Jaidon stopped me. He grabbed me by my arm.
"To think that you should be cautious around vampires by now. But yet your about to get into a car all alone with one." Jaidon accused. Before I could answer Jasper did for me,
"Then why don't you come too?" he proposed, grinning. Jaidon ignored him and pulled me close to him and kissed me. He smells like wine, I felt realived.
By the time he let go I could swear his eyes sparkled indifferently, but it only lasted for a few seconds.
"Hey vampire, get in." called Jasper, now serious. I tried going in on shotgun but Jaidon pulled me back with him to sit at the back. After a few minutes I asked,
"Are you taking him to night class?" I felt suprised at the seriousness in the tone of my own voice.
"After what I just saw.." Jasper voice drifted off and started again, "Who is he really?" he asked, taking a glance back. I could tell what he really wanted to know was whether or not Jaidon was on a diet.
"He's a friend of Jake's." I answered, not sure of the answer myself.
"Then I have no choice." Jasper answered, quickly.
"I'm sitting right here you know." said Jaidon, pulling me against him.
"Touch her and see what happens." warned Jasper.
"That's enough!" I yelled. I pulled away from Jaidon and he let me go, looking suprised. If I was really myself today, I would regret doing so but today..
I stared out the window and silence filled the car. Then I felt a cold fingers slid between mine. It was Jaidon's, I didn't even have to look this time to know who it was. I leaned my head back on the seat and closed my eyes, letting him do what he wished.
I was suppose to go to Jasper's school and wear a uniform similar to his. I was suppose to go back to school and hang out with my own kind and still get to see Jasper, a vampire. But somehow Jaidon got stuck in middle of this. Jaidon who I didn't know anything about. Him whom I just met, him who kissed me more then once and him who could take my life away on a whim. But for some reason he sits beside me, holding my hand, looking as if he wasn't planing to do so.
When we arrived at his school Jasper told Jaidon that I was enrolling to this school and it's dorm. He walked me to the one in charge and then disappeared along with Jaidon.
After and After.
A guy in his mid forties who appeared to be the principle showed me to my room and told me not to worry about the two of them. My room was already prepared and my new school uniform was already layed out for me. I was told I was going to start attending tomorrow. When the principle left I collapsed on the bed. Despite being so tired after all that happened, I couldn't stop thinking about Jaidon, why would a vampire do such things.
I regreted not asking Jake about him.
At school I could have made friends easily, but for some reason I felt out of place. At lunch time I was asked to join a girl group but I declined. Instead I went up to the roof after buying a sandwich and a pop.
Afterschool a boy went up to me and started talking to be about something but I left before he noticed it. I couldn't stop wondering what happened to Jaidon and Jasper.
Around 5 o'clock I asked the principle if I could see Jasper, who belonged to Night Class. He told me that I could see him tomorrow and that I should rest for now. Jasper told me Night Class was a group of vampires that was admired by all the other students, who weren't aware of their true identity. I didn't know you had to wait to just see them.
The next day during lunch time one of the girls who invited me the day before showed up on the roof. "Everyone's talking about you." she told me. It's funny how us humans are so curious about everything left undentified. They had to know every little single detail to be satified. It reminded me of how I was acting, at least that's what she made me realize.
"I don't mean to be rude but you shouldn't act like that or else Abigail will grow to hate you."
"Abigail?" I asked.
"Yeah. The one who asked you to have lunch with us yesthreday. She's used to getting everything she wants, well expect getting Night class's attention."
"Night Class?" I asked, quietly.
"That's right, your new around here. Their a special class that study in a different buliding. Everyone admires them, their all so pretty."
"Night Class huh." I laughed, as I pictured Abigial discovering what she's really in for.
"What are you laughing at?" I looked up to remember that the girl was still there, now looking confused. She'll be laughing too if she knew, well not exactly laughing.
"What's your name?" I asked, changing the subject.
"Huh oh me, Julie." she said, smiling.
After that we talked for a while and I walked her back to her dorm and headed for Night Class.
I knocked on the door but nobody answered. I tried opening the door to find out it wasn't locked, so I entered. It was very bright and very open, not quite what I had expected. It was remendously massive with nobody in sight. I walked in a bit farther to see Jasper and Taylor sitting across from eachother on opposite sofas.
"Taylor?" I asked. I couldn't believe it, Taylor's here in a.. in a buliding full of vampires.
"Clarissa." he responded, standing up to walk towards me. I could tell he wanted to embrace me and hug me, but he knew better not to. "So you were serious after all." he whispered. He dropped his head down leaving his dark bown hair hang down from both sides. He was wearing a black leather jacket and a pair of jeans. He looked up at me again but I didn't move. How long as it been, months?--I thought to myself. "Are you sure about this?" he begged.
"Jasper I thought you said mortals aren't allowed inside." said Jaidon walking down the staircase, dominated on the center far side. It felt like I hadn't seen him in years.
"He's the one I told you about. As soon as we're done with the contract he's leaving." Jasper reassured. Jaidon passed right by me and went to examaniate him. Taylor's moved his hand to touch and show off his gun, as if warning Jaidon.
"Oh aren't you confident." Jaidon teased, not afraid. At least he's in a good mood.
"I have no business with you vampire." Taylor defended himself.
"Jaidon I told you to stay upstairs." Jasper said, disappointed.
"And miss my chance of seeing Clarissa again." he said turning around to smile at me. And here I thought I was being completely ignored. Wait, Jaidon's still here. Does this mean Jaidon joined Night Class?
"Do you see what you're dealing with here, Claire." Taylor pointed out with a flash of hope in his eyes. I stared at him for a few seconds, I could feel Jaidon's eyes on me and his curiousity in the relationship between me and Taylor. I closed my eyes and headed for the door. I thought I went through this already. As I closed the door shut I heard Jasper telling Jaidon to go with me. I skipped down the stairs debating on running away, but I stopped once I reached the bottom.
"Oh C-lai-re." Jaidon sang as he wrapped his arms around me from behind. Great now Taylor got him to call me Claire now. I hated that nickname, I thought I left that behind already. The idea of Jaidon calling me that hurt me.
"It's Clarissa." I said in a low tone. He rested his chin on my shoulder, why does he always act like this when he's around me?
"You don't look so good today." he whispered. "Well psychically you look great but--" he stopped to laugh at himself. He raised his head and turned my head gently towards him.
"You sure you should be doing this?" I asked, feeling out of breath.
"I took a lot of tablets before heading downstairs." he answered.
"Tablets?" I asked.
"Night Class Tablets." he explained, "Jasper introduced it to me. We drop the tablet in water, wait for it to disolve and then drink it. I don't like it at all though, but I guess it works. The contract that" he stopped as if choosing his words carefully, "that guy had was to renew the deal about us taking tablets and leaving the other students out of harm." I stopped looking at him and looked straight ahead. Jasper never explained to me what was so special about Night Class.
Jaidon made his way around me so he stood infront of me. I looked up at him and then dropped my head regreting it. He took my hand and kissed it, "Can you tell me or do I have to beg?" he asked and then kissed my hand again. My mouth dropped as I remembered him seeing Jasper doing the same thing to me before.
"Nice uniform." he changed the subject, smiling and still holding my hand. I blushed at his effort, remembering what I was wearing but still didn't respond. He pulled me close again not sure what to do and to my surprise he put my hand where his heart is suppose to be. "Feel anything?" he whispered. I looked up slowly and noticed that his shirt was half way unbuttoned the whole time. The sun was out, his hair was messy and his eyes were a honey brown. I tried to focus,
"It's faint but it's still there." I answered finally. He smiled and looked realived not at my answer but for the fact that I did answer. He put his palm on my cheek like he did the last time we were alone. This time his hands weren't so cold, partly because of the sun.
He was smiling and looked more like an angel then a vampire.
I put my head against his chest breaking the eye contact. What is he thinking..
The door suddenly opened and I turned around to see Taylor, all suprised. Jasper stood behind him, his face casual but not suprised at all. Jaidon didn't move but I turned fully around with his hands still on my waist. Taylor's face suddenly looked furious and his eyes avoided mine as he walked right by and left.
"You two can come in now." Jasper said normally. Jaidon looked at me,
"Let's go?" he asked. I nodded and walked up the stairs inside. We all sat down together, me beside Jaidon and Jasper across from us. Jaidon stared into space and Jasper remained quiet.
"So where's everyone?" I asked. When I came I thought I was going to have to endure a whole room full of vampires, but right now, nothing.
"Their sleeping." Jasper responded, pouring me some tea. He then took out what looked like a pill and dropped it in a cup filled with water. I watched as it slowly turned red.
"Tablet." I muttered.
"So you heard about it."
"Yeah, Jaidon told me about it." I said, turning to look at him. He stood there like statue, staring off to space. What is he thinking about? Is something bothering him? He always seemed so causal around me.. well expect for the first time he saw me..
"You okay?" asked Jasper.
"Yeah. I'm fine."
"How's school?"
"Normal." I said, feeling strange has I pronounced the word. Jasper's laughter broke the silence.
"Normal." he repeated, "After all you've been through it's 'normal', that's rich." he laughed. At this Jaidon responded to, his head swung to look at Jasper. Jasper smiled at him, as if teasing "I know something you don't." I felt like I was in a room with two little kids. I took a sip of my tea, how am I going to explain this Jaidon, better yet what's going through his head right now? What am I saying, it's not like I have an obligation to tell him.
"How about we go to the amusement park this saturday?" suggested Jasper, "I would rather go to the pool but that'll be kind of hard if you know what I mean." he laughed. Personally I didn't find anything funny in that matter, but being the only girl in a swimsuit bothered me.
"You're in a good mood." I pointed out. Jasper nodded, smiling.
"How about you set me up with one of your pretty little girlfriends?" he joked. "How about it, it's a date?" he asked looking at Jaidon. Jaidon just stared at him. "Great. Amusement park it is!" decided Jasper on his own.
"I think you're the one not feeling good." said Jaidon, revealing that is was listening afterall.
"I've known him for years and I still don't get him." I added. Jasper didn't object just smiled.
"Well, it's almost 6 o'clock better go wake them up." Jasper said, standing up. "Go show her out, it'll get dark soon." I watched as Jasper jogged up the stairs. Unpredictable as always. Nor him or Jake has changed.
--
"I'll walk you back." I told her as I finished drinking the desolved tablet. I held the door for her keeping the distance I failed to keep from her from the start. I led the way down the stairs in pure quiet.
"I picked vampires over Taylor." she said finally, as we followed down the path. I kept my eyes down locked on the floor counting stones. I could feel her eyes on me but didn't answer. I felt stupid, like a little kid arguing with his mother. "Since he's a vampire hunter and hater and all, I couldn't stand it." she continued.
"Why vampires?" I asked, giving up the silent treatment a little too soon. Her phone rang and she opened it,
"Message." she explained. I looked away feeling once again irriated, pissed off, like a little kid once again. I glanced beyond the trees seeing things she would never be able to see. I tried to smile at that fact but failed misbearly. I wrapped my arms around her from behind closing the distance between us. She closed her phone.
"Continue." I told her, my voice as hard as the stones beneath us.
"Continue what?" she asked. I can't believe this..
"Don't play stupid." I hissed, tightening my grip around her unconciously, and then loosing it.
"The message or what I was saying before?" she asked, defencesly. She turned to looked at me and I leaned in kissing her, hard.
"What's wrong with me?" I muttered outloud to himself. She tried to answer but I kissed her again, lighter this time. The next thing I knew, her fingers brushed through my hair letting her tongue meet mine. I could smell the fresh scent of shampoo coming from her even clearer now. My heart which I had normally kept beating while with mortals, picked up speed and stopped as I failed to continue the slow beats. I pulled back and stared at her, amazed.
She dropped her head not sure what to say, what just happened..
"Let's go?" she suggested looking back up, embrassed. I took her by her hands quietly, as if comforting her.
"Why pick danger over Taylor?" I asked, trying to forget what just happened. She dropped her head again and I fought the urge inside me.
"Why pick family over Taylor?" she rephrased.
"Family? I'm pretty sure you're a human." The hell..
"My brother is a vampire." she said, as if she didn't believe it herself. "He got turned into one by a pureblood instead of me."
"Instead of you?" I muttered, So that's what Jasper meant back then when..
"Yeah, Jasper."
"Wait, Jasper's your brother?" No. Can't be. Impossible. They don't look anything alike..
"That's why I came to this school. But by then you appeared-" I lifted her head up to make her look at me, not wanting her to finish the sentence.
"Okay. So your brother, Jasper got turned into a vampire 'instead of you' and invited you over to this school. I feel like I'm missing something."
"Subtract all the details and that's what you get." She tried to smile but it didn't meet her eyes.
"How's it like being human?" I asked, letting her keep her secrets.
"It's okay, but you tend to feel insecere, a lot." she joked.
"Oh real-ly?" I smiled, man she can change the mood so easily, so accurently.. "I always wanted to ask a human that. But you know, I never found the right opportunity to do so." She laughed and I wondered if she was picturing me going around asking random people, like I was.
After that I walked her half way to her dorm, and watched her walk the rest of the way alone until she entered her dorm, unaware that I was could still see her. All I wanted was a simple chase.
Dawn.
