Now for another Music Video.
On Your Mark is another music video but unlike Clamp in Wonderland it has a plot.
The video follows two police officers as they attempt to free an angel from a religious cult, the video deliberately makes each moment as cryptic as possible as it frequently attempts to make the viewer guess the outcome of each moment of peril eventually leading up to an ending where the angel flies away. Apparently Miyazaki made this to cure his writers block during the production of Princess Mononoke.
Studio Ghibli I still have an odd history with, to really categorise this video I'd put it under one of their better projects that could easily be it's own film.
Final Verdict: A decent music video that really grabs the audience making pay attention to every scene.
This was certainly an experience.
Dash Yonkuro tells the story of the Dash Warriors and their rise to the top of the Mini 4WD championship facing all sorts of colourful rivals along the way.
Our team consist of the following.
Yonkuro is the passionate leader, takes things really seriously with the charisma to back it up often dashing into battle without thinking, also voiced by Son Goku.
Tankuro is the large support often the one to back up the others.
Shinkuro is the rich kid with all the tools you could possible get and a bit full of himself.
Punkuro is a hapless nerd who dons rock makeup to increase his confidence.
Rinko is the lone female of the team and acts as the heart as well as the moral support.
Kaidanji is Rinko's older brother, an ex Formula one engineer who was supporting Yonkuro's father in the Hell Rally before injury forced him home and does his best to keep Yonkuro and his team going out of respect for Yonkuro's father.
Among toy anime this is the only anime to remember that it's a toy anime. While there are exaggerated actions at times it doesn't take away the fact that these Mini 4WD cars function the same as in real life, there's no realistic Holograms, Mystical Beasts or Robots with enough power to level a skyscraper, these cars run and break as if they do in reality and it's properly explained so any kid watching can actually do this in real life and not be let down by your marbles not turning into dragons or not summoning a real Dark Magician Girl.
Even the Dash Warriors function as a proper team and their rivals are more than just the evil team, they have morals and beliefs as well and it's not uncommon to see good sportsmanship between them. These types of anime can easily be dragged down by the need for the protagonist to pull the plot forward but Yonkuro does actually manage to step back and let his team help and even accept proper guidance from their coach even if he does look like a grizzled retired robot pilot from Getter Robo.
Think the only dub is in Malaysian and Indonesian so don't expect it in English.
Fun fact, this was Hiroyuki Takei of Shaman King fame's first job as assistant to the mangaka Zaurus Tokuda and would later continue the manga after Zaurus' death. Although Zaurus had very little restraint in putting himself in the manga and anime.
Final Verdict: This is the best toy anime ever created, it remembers it's a toy first and showcases all the functions of the Mini 4WD without fabulous secret powers and very minor exaggerated actions. At the end of the day the cars are to quote Woody "A Child's Plaything" and it succeeds well before the likes of Beyblade, Bakugan and Yu-Gi-Oh existed.
After over a week of releasing all of my hate, let's return to our regular reviews starting with a quick one.
Clamp in Wonderland is a music video showcasing the history of Clamp works from their early days along with a sequel that brings in the first half of the 00s, as it is a music video I cannot talk about voice acting or actual plot as there is none. The best I can compare this to are the openings to Project X Zone another well known crossover, there really isn't much to criticise but it proves how good Clamp are at design and visuals, both music videos look gorgeous.
Final Verdict: it shows what Clamp are good at without any story to drag it down.
Okay let's bring this home so I can talk about normal anime again.
10. Psychic Force
I was angry at the lack of effort that went into making this, it's not that hard to make a fighting game anime.
9. The Super Milk-Chan Show
Imagine the worst elements of Ren and Stimpy in anime form. That's what this show is, I have actively tried to forget this show existed.
8. Rumbling Hearts
The most bull shit romance plot ever put to anime.
7. Kill Me Baby
Worst comedy ever, you know you screwed up when the dub voices give up caring.
6. Diabolik Lovers
Congratulations, you managed to be worst than Twilight, that's not an achievement, I'm just saying it out of pity.
5. X/1999 and Movie
This is Clamp at it's worst. It's one of the most poorly structured stories I've ever sat through and the bigger insult is that they still haven't finished it!
4. Idol Densetsu Eriko
Someone watched Jem and the Holograms and thought, "this isn't depressing enough" and made this.
3. Skelter Heaven
This is the only anime I've ever watched in which I don't know what's going on. It's also got abysmal animation.
2. De:Vadasy
Someone tried to rip off Evangelion and did it so poorly that Evangelion looks even better.
1. Bludgeoning Angel Dokuro-Chan
This wasn't easy to arrange, the top 3 kept changing places but the deciding factor was effort. No effort went in Skelter Heaven and De:Vadasy was a rip off of a superior anime. Dokuro-Chan had effort put into it and that's very depressing. Why?
An angel goes back in time to kill the inventor of a drug that makes every woman 12 years old, that's right, effort was made in an anime about a guy making the ultimate paedo world and the punchline is that Dokuro is terrible at her job. This is the truest definition of a garbage fire that still needs more gas to burn.
If you haven't heard a title yet then they made the top ten.
20. Idolm@ster
There isn't a single character I remember from this anime. That's not how Idol shows work.
19. Maze the Megaburst Space
Has everything terrible about 90s anime, creepy romance, creepy fan service and horribly incompetent character design.
18. Cutey Honey Universe
The worst reboot ever!
17. Virgin Fleet
I've never seen an anime have so much hatred for both genders.
16. Princess Nine
You had one job! Build a girls team to beat the boys and you failed! Don't care if it's a spoiler I've just saved you from a terrible series.
15. Jungle De Ikou
Wash your hands in alcohol hand gel now light them on fire, it's the only way your hands will be clean after watching this.
14. Spiral Suiri no Kizuna
What I consider the worst anime of the 00s, a very incompetent mystery plot that pulls the most insulting of plot twists.
13. Junk Boy
A series with very poor taste in sex jokes, avoid like the STD you might get watching this.
12. Sister Princess
Patient zero of the creepy sister fetish.
11. Pupa
This didn't come from a normal place, this can only come from a mental asylum from the depths of the darkest corners of hell.
