It's been a while, review time.
On the colonised planet of Terra 2, only men exist, only six men survived the original landing and cloning tech has allowed the men to exist for 300 years, in Japoness, we join Otaru, an odd jobs guy who during a routine run in with unwanted boyfriend Hanagata, unlocks a female android called Lime known as a marionette, but unlike other marionettes, Lime has human emotions which arrives just in time to deal with an invasion from Gartland, joined by Cherry and Bloodberry, Otaru sets off to defeat Gartland preventing the invasion of Japoness, all the while learning the secrets behind the last remaining woman Lorelei and the secrets behind the maiden system that are also in the enemy marionettes.
True fact, this is the first manga I ever finished and it would take twenty years to finally watch the tv series, the show is an under rated under appreciated gem, it has quite an interesting lore and really begs the question of what really happens in an all male society and when you introduce the female gender in it's purest form and not the fakes the original marionettes were, it helps that we got the music of Megumi Hayashibara and the character designs are my favourite in all of anime for it's vibrant colours and pleasant aura, even the dub turned out reasonably good.
Unfortunately the further you go into the sequel series, the weaker it gets, so the first and maybe second season J to X should be plenty, all I'll say is, don't look up Saber Marionette Z.
Final Verdict: this should've been included in the essential 90s anime experience right up there with Slayers, Saint Tail, Wedding Peach and Outlaw Star, it's worth your time.
I think this anime wants you to have sex.
Osai Academy goes co-ed allowing boys in for the first time, Tsuda on his first day gets scouted for the student council, Tsuda plays the straight man for the all girl trio of Shino the class president with a keen interest in sex jokes, Aria the rich girl who enables it and Suzu the genius who seems the only sane girl but has a severe height complex.
The bingo card of jokes including.
1. Reference to Japan's declining birthrate.
2. Teacher being thirsty for school boys.
3. A tampon joke.
4. Being caught off guard by the school press.
5. Phallic objects.
6. Height references for Suzu.
7. Aria's maid being creepy.
8. Aria's misunderstanding for basic life.
9. The judo student being the only wholesome one.
10. Tsuda's sister always going for the sex joke.
11. One girl with a fear of men.
And 12. A fake school rule to start the episode.
It's hard to binge watch only worth doing in small doses, alot of classic engrish jokes come from this anime.
If today's dubbers weren't so afraid to return to the jokes of old, this would be the best dub ever.
Final Verdict: You won't find much difference between episodes as most of them follow the same routines, but it's still hilarious.
I now wander how this succeeded.
A young Japanese man is isekai'd into another world having been crushed by a vending machine, he ends becoming a vending machine in the next life, something he is not only an expert in but introduces this dungeon like world to the conveniences of vending machines having been found by strong huntress Lammis.
Named Boxxo by the people, Boxxo becomes an essential magic tool for all matter of dungeon crawling only limited by automated speech.
This by all means should've failed, it should've been the final nail in the Isekai genre but it's writing and world building is so tightly knit that it cannot be considered poorly made, I kinda feel robbed that this isn't the crazy crap fest the initial premise promised us but a competent fantasy story that has no business being given this kind of well built story.
Even the dub was given it's best offering.
Final Verdict: So well written you'll be disappointed that it's not as crazy as the premise made it sound.
Be prepared for a few isekai.
Japanese Handyman Saitou is isekai'd to another world joining an adventure group consisting of a warrior woman Raelza, a fairy lafanpan and a powerful yet memory hazed wizard Morlock, Saitou acting as a support by unlocking treasure chests, constructing armour, building useful items and helping Morlock remembering spells; along with Saitou's group, short vignettes of other adventuring groups building a bigger narrative that brings them together, there are many stories going on throughout.
It's an interesting world build and equally interesting story build, it's slight adult edge gives more gravity to the magic system as we find out why Morlock is forgetful and how death is treated, while there are silly moments, it can really remind you of the consequences if you forget that this is quite a serious fantasy show.
Dub is good and really takes advantage of the adult humour.
Final Verdict: A strong, balanced isekai with a good mixture of adult jokes and mature scenes.
Based on an actual Hawaiian Themed Resort in Japan.
Hiwa is a young girl with a desire to follow her late older sister's footsteps into the world of Hula Dancing at a well known Hawaiian Resort, joined by a stuck up pro, a laid back Sumo lady, a shy girl and a Hawaiian native, Hiwa and her new found friends compete in contests and grow to become splendid hula dancers over the years of intense training.
You can instantly tell this was made by the Love Live crew with how the idol tropes manage to slip in, thankfully with the pacing, it doesn't become a nuisance and much of the charm of the film comes from the fact that this is based on an actual Hawaiian resort, my only real complaint is the talking doll, I won't spoil it but adding a supernatural element to an otherwise grounded in reality film does take you out of the immersion.
Not seen a dub should be decent though.
Final Verdict: A pleasant film obviously taking as many tropes from Love Live as possible but not stuffing your brain with the melodrama that usually comes with it, certainly worth your time.
