The life of a human is a short one. One rarely reaches the age of 65. Humans are so fragile, and life is not easy for them. The life of a mage, however is extremely long. Most mages live well into their 300th year and age much slower than a normal human. The more a mage uses their magic, the longer they will live, basically making them immortal. The life of a mage is an easy one filled with magic to complete everyday mundane tasks. This is a story about these two worlds colliding. Mages are not allowed to interact with humans and the existence of mages is one of the best kept secrets in the world. One exists on the planet earth, the other another dimension that can only be reached by magic called Magia.
At one point in time in history Magia was apart of our planet. It was a town in North Italy, filled with magic and joy. Everything changed when the witch hunters appeared. They would hunt down and kill mages ruthlessly. So, the mage council decided to separate Magia from the rest of the world, taking with it all the magic left in our world. Contact with our world is limited to small missions to retrieve rogue magical beings, until today...
Felix Cristiano Barone lived a peaceful live in Venice, Italy. He loved nothing more than to drive his gondola, earning money along the way. He would sing to his tourist customers and every night go home to his little sister and help her with her homework. On the weekends he attended school, trying to finish his high school diploma.
Today was like any other day. He took his gondola out and looked around for potential customers. He was of average height and lightly tan from spending too much time in the sun. His redish brown hair was neatly cut slightly past his ears. His bangs slicked back and placed under a gondolier's hat.
Yes. Things were normal, until a girl suddenly appeared out of nowhere in his boat.
Chero Letezia Aoyama was a short young lady. She had chestnut curls that sat slightly past her shoulders and brown eyes that sparkled with mischief. She was a mage of seventeen years of age, who was running away from her teacher.
“Teleportation spell, don’t fail me now!” she said, snapping her fingers.
She made a terrible mistake.
Chero’s eyes met a pair of wide bluish grey eyes. Her whole body wobbled unsteadily as she took in her surroundings. A boat. A boy staring at her. She just appeared out of nowhere.
“Don’t freak out!” she said.
“Don’t freak out? Don’t freak out?!” the young man cried, “YOU APPEARED OUT OF NOWHERE!”
