Another Day

Raine
I fell on my butt as I was practically shoved from the vehicle. Axel got out behind me and helped me to my feet, handing me my backpack. I heard the car door slam as the butler yelled some profanity before speeding away.

"Gosh, what a jerk," I yelled after him, sticking out my tongue.

"Stop it, Raine, that doesn't solve anything. You just look childish. From now on we are on our own. Mother and Father want nothing to do with us, so we are going to have to prove that we don't need them. And to do that, we are going to have to work together," Axel told me as he led us into the school building, which we had been going to for about three days now.

Mother and Father couldn't take our abilities and decided to dump us here, hoping it would help control our abilities better. But after three days, they gave up on the notion and sent us packing our things; they had disowned us from the family name, which was fine with us.

Axel and I never had gotten along with anyone in our family, and we had always fended for ourselves as no one was ever home. Mother was a doctor, on call all the time, and father ran a very important company day and night.

Walking into the school, I looked around. I still hadn't made any friends, but that was because I hadn't tried. Today, however, I would. I couldn't wait to see what powers people had. This was going to be an interesting day!
