Chapter 9: Surprising!
It has been a little over two months now and the days were starting to become colder and the leaves started changing colors and falling off the trees. It was almost November now and every morning that I got up early was getting colder and colder. I knew my class schedule pretty well and I was able to get through my homework just fine. Katara, Hiro and I all had the same lunch so it was nice being able to spend sometime with them. It lessened the tensions on the day’s classes. Now that it was getting colder instead of being outside we had to be inside the dining hall with all the other kids. It wasn’t the older kids that were bad it was all the freshmen.
“Thanksgiving break can’t come soon enough.” Hiro sighed rubbing his temples as the freshmen were being loud and annoying once again.
“What do you expect, I’m sure that most parents sent their kids that got kicked out of school here to get them out in the country.” Katara. Stated taking a bite of her sandwich.
“Doc’s t-told me that…h-he’s already had to expel s-some kids.” I answered pushing my food around on my tray.
“Wow what did they do?” Katara asked,
“B-broke school rules…d-drinking, smoking, cheating on tests for the third time in a row.” I replied.
“Oh okay.” Hiro nodded.
‘Doc hasn’t done anything to the students though so he may be thinking of something to do soon.’ I thought to myself.
“Hei…” I looked up at Katara and smiled.
Before I could get anything out the bell rang for lunch to be over. We cleaned up and went our separate ways to the rest of our classes. I was at the top of my classes and a lot of people didn’t like me for that. They thought it was because Doc was the headmaster and that we were related that I was able to get easier questions on tests. As much as my teacher’s proved my classmates wrong they still didn’t like me. I was glad that I at least had some friends. But today was Friday and I just wanted to get done with my classes so I could go and talk to Doc about something that I’ve wanted to do for a few weeks now.
The bell for classes to be done finally rang and I collected all of my books and tossed them in my bag then went to Doc’s office. I knocked then walked in. there was no one in his office, so I decided to go into the lab to find him.
“Doc, you in here?” I asked.
“I am.” He answered walking from his cupboards with something in his hands.
“I know I’m going to regret this but what are you doing?” I asked.
“I’m making…something.” He said.
“So you don’t even know what you’re making.” I smirked a bit.
“I do, I think.” He mentioned.
“So what is it?” I asked curious now.
Before he could answer there was a huge explosion and there was a bright light that engulfed both of us. When everything went back to normal I looked around and I had no idea where we were.
“Where are we?” I asked.
“I think I accidently made a Time potion and I think that we were sent back in time.” He answered.
I looked at him in shock. “So how do we get back?” I asked a bit panicked.
He ran his fingers through his graying black hair and stood there in frustration, “I’m thinking that we need to just find a portal to get back.” He answered.
“You’re not joking, we seriously have to go and find this portal to get back to our time?” I sighed.
“Come on it will be fun. We’ll actually be able to spend time together.” Doc smiled and grabbed my wrist and pulled me away with him.
“Do you even know where you’re going?” I asked him as we walked along the woodland path.
“I think so, it just feels like I’m being drawn in this direction.” He answered picking up his pace a little more.
“What’s the hurry?” I questioned pulling my arm away from his hand.
“I-I just want to get back before…” He trailed off.
“Doc…before what?” I asked concerned.
He didn’t say anything to me.
“Come on Doc, when ever something has been on my mind or has been bothering me you always tell me that I need to talk about it. So why don’t you want to talk to me about it?” I asked.
“I’ll tell you later.” He told me.
“Doc…we’re alone here, why don’t you tell me know?” I offered getting in front of him and putting my hand up making myself get in his way.
“How about this…if you accept anything I give you, I will let you go wherever you want for Christmas break.” He said to me.
“Doc that’s not solving anything.” I stated.
“If you do that then I’ll tell you everything when you get back from the Christmas break.” He offered.
“Doc please…” I said.
He sighed and looked me right in the eye. “Tomorrow morning come to my office and I’ll talk.” He gave up.
I put my arms down, “Thank you.”
“Let’s get out of here.” Doc stated and we continued the rest of our journey in silence.
“There it is.” I said pointing to the rip and space I saw.
We ran over to it and nodded at each other and then went through the portal and landed back in Doc’s office unharmed.
“Let’s not do that again.” He laughed.
“Agreed.” I smiled at him. “Oh right what I originally came in here to ask you was if I could take my bike out for a ride?” I asked.
“As long as your back before dark.” He answered.
“Yes, thank you!” I jumped and then ran out of his office and ran back to my room and dropped my bag off.
“What are you in a hurry for?” Hiro asked confused on why I looked so happy.
“I’ll b-be back later.” I told him and then ran out of the room with my keys to the room. “B-be back before dinner.”
I ran out to my shed that was behind the school and opened up the doors and uncovered my motorcycle. I grabbed the handles tight and pulled it out of the shed. My motorcycle started up easily and I put my helmet on and rode it to the gates of the school. The gates opened and I revved it down the road. It was nice to be able to get out of the school again. I didn’t ride long as much as I wanted to I didn’t want to make Hiro and Katara worry about me.
